Succession: Tern Haven (Season 2 Episode 5 Clip) | HBO
The scene where nan carries out the dinner her maid cooked and receives applause while the maid stands in the shadows actually makes me sick
At least the Roy’s don’t pretend that they’re “nice people”. The pieces try to be all “cultured” and whatever. Logan didn’t come from money, one of those who became a billionaire from a middle class background.
The maid doesn't work for applause lol. How holy of you to be offended for her.
@@scottrosstv3654 okay, how does that justify someone else taking credit for her work though
@@QFl7098 She bought the materials, she hired the cooks. Your maid didn't descend from heaven to provide a meal out of the goodness of her heart. That credit won't add any dollars to her bank account, so what does it even matter. Guilty white liberal inventing something out of thin air to be offended about.
@@ee-mv3es so you commission an artist for a painting and then go around saying you did it?
Everyone is AWFUL and I love it.
Connor at least attempted to make it work. Roman and Shiv were sarcastic from the start, until Logan straightened them out.
The Pierce family are insufferable though.
@@solidoperative they really are, more insufferable than the roys. holier than thou arseholes
At first i was mad and shiv and roman but then i realized the pierces r hypocrites and horrid and suddenly it all makes sense now. Not that shiv and rom r nice people but in this case it was all well deserved
@@EughhBrothereughhwhy are they hypocrites?
@@icarovdlthey're not nice to their staff as they pretend. They just cloak all their horrible under pretensions because "old money" = "classy" y'know
An episode about what happens when you mix old money and new money together.
100% So well done! That consultant they have is eerily accurate on class differences
@@catneedham4913which consumtant?
@@236_muhammadfadlirakananda2 The show had a “wealth consultant” who advised the stylistic aspects of the billionaire class and the difference between old and new money mores
@@236_muhammadfadlirakananda2 The consultant the show creators hired for the show.
God the Pierces are insufferable, how can you be so stuck up that you make the Roy’s look down to Earth and relatable
by voting Democrat lol
Get over yourself
Eh... some academia are more pompous than the Pierces.
They’re not stuck up. People who spent years in school, studying very specific topics are just proud and passionate about there pursuits.
Oh stop it, Both sides entitled brats, you just happens to like the Roy’s better, but the beauty of this episode is that it embarrasses and pokes fun at both sides of the 1 percent.
Logan's face at 0:53 🤣🤣🤣
I love how close Connor ends up being with maxim
this show makes fun of the 1% of both sides... equally make them look insuffarable and i love this show to pieces
The 1% only has one side
@@TheBonchampion That's not true.
@@ethanshusband2945 yeah it is. the liberals and conservatives make their money the same way. exploitation
@@MatauReviews My husband's family are part of the 1%, they've donated millions of dollars to charitable causes. You CAN'T paint all people with money with one broad brush, that's very ignorant.
@@ethanshusband2945 charities solve nothing and most of them just funnel money back into the hands of the wealthy. the problem is intrinsically within who benefits from accumulation and production. the owning classes serve themselves and a liberal and a conservative are still dedicated to upholding that. you cannot become a billionaire or even a millionaire without exploiting others. it is inherent to the economic and social class of the bourgeoisie.
Naomi is just awesome
The look on Logan's face 😆 luv it
You see all those faces and you can clearly see that no one wants to be there in that room but they have in order to keep getting richer and richer.
Still one of the best episodes ever 😂
I like that in the next season, Connor and Max Pierce become friends and work together on his campaign
Been rooting for Con for awhile now
i just realized connor is the only character in this show that actually makes friends with someone he initially disagrees with
I love the leather jacket Naomi wears.
I love how people think this is the “1%”. No my dude, this is like the 0,001%😂
Both sides of the same coin. One's evil, the other's insufferable.
Both evil
This was to Relatable to life’s society now lol
When Nan says “from the wallet of Teddy Roosevelt’s valet” why does Logan give that expression? Is he just cringing?
He can't stand the old money pretension
she's bragging about how connected the Pierce family is to American history. They are a prestigious family and an institute in themselves. Logan came to the country in the 60s (?) with none of these connections or American prestige. He's new money.
Yup. Logan - being new money - despises these old money families and their Shakespearean facade
No one appreciates how well Connor did at this one
Roman is bliss 😂
the break bumper!
the pierce family seems like an overly fake woke family company, that ends up making the most tone deaf decision for their company/image
Better woke than nouveau riche trash.
@@freedomm you can't actually be 'woke' if you're a billionaire anyway it's all fake
I just realized Maxim Pierce is Cousin Larry from Perfect Strangers lol
People and their PHDs
People with PhDs usually arent very rich lol. Its a lot of student debt with few options but to be a teacher or researcher, which doesnt pay well
@@headphonic8 He's getting a PhD in black studies not a real field like computer science or physics. Colleges should be sued into oblivion for putting young kids into such financially irresponsible positions.
@@robrick9361
that was the dumbest comment I've read this summer 😳😳😳
@@omg9261 I agree 100% with what he said, but I do sense some good ol' white resentment the way he said black studies
Maxim Pierce is Cousin Larry from “Perfect Strangers.”
And Mark Linn-Baker has two degrees from Yale. His cameo in "The Leftovers" was excellent. I also like how coincidentally "Diff'rent Strokes" ended the same month that "Perfect Strangers" started airing.
All the kids were a disappointment to Logan and still they think they deserved the crown. They wouldn't last a year in the real world against the sharks.
Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the show. Everyone is AWFUL and for some reason, you just can't stop cheering for them. However, that is the problem today. Even though the PHD crowd is pompous and obnoxious, they have merit cause they put in the work, and yes, I've met that type of people and they are so full of themselves, that you cannot help wanting to beat the ever-loving shit, out of them. But the way the show puts it, it doesn't matter if you appreciate learning, as long as you make so much money, that knowledge is for "suckers". Knowledge and reason are now used as punchlines. The person that is the loudest or richest, is the one that is right, and to make it worse, has more value for society. That's just my opinion. And yet, I LOVE the show!
Man you're just lying to yourself if you think the PHD crowd put in more work than the guys who made their money hustling news day by day.
The Roy’s are what the streets call “ get it how you live” they or better yet the joke wasn’t against education or hardwork, but the superficial degrees was a stab at most of society and not understanding or grasping the concept of “work smarter not harder”
The resources to be able to do a SECOND phd lol. Its just so in your face
Having put in work is no guarantee of quality. I don't think the hardest worker is necessarily the best steward.
honestly if your PHD doesn't help you contribute to the society in some meaningful way - make people's lives easier - then I don't think it's a valuable PHD to have, you can do these stuff as hobbies, but your time is better spent elsewhere, but you have convinced yourselves that this is some how a good way to show other people that you have a direction in life.
0:48 his face.
I know so good
0:55 Logan's not impressed. 🤣
Pierce are more insufferable than roys
"truth love it - its the best right?" love roman
"why dont you take a break" - nan pierce
- the way only a rich liberal could have the luxury to - study for 20 years - to have two phds - and write about their interests obscurely.
this show is so sharp
0:34 I wish she had said, "taken from Ted Kennedy's valet..."
And Kendall could say, "You know, l can relate to Ted Kennedy...".
Was it just me who found the Pierce's even more pretentious and obnoxious.
Succession is just a take off of the Borgias.
Romans v Greeks
the banalities in a gathering... abhorrent
Ken & Naomi ftw!
Yea lowlifes deserve each other
1:01
lol
I'm beginning to think this Connor becoming President spiel is not necessarily a joke but an idea Logan hasn't ruled out. Connor clearly is the obedient son that requires no leverage unlike Kendall. Logan could basically use his larger media empire of newspapers, ATN and soon Pierce to turn Connor into President while calling all the shots behind the scenes. The fact is only Shiv and Roman are making jokes about Connor running for President. When Lawrence the Vaulter CEO asked Kendall about Connor he gave the look of I can't comment on his affairs implying where there is smoke there maybe fire. Add to that Logan who pulled the plug from Kendall becoming his successor in Season 1 could easily do the same to Connor's Presidential campaign unless he sees it as a tool for some other plan similar to this Pierce Acquisition to block Sandy's takeover. Logan calls Roman and Kendall a fucking moron and idiot multiple times throughout the show and didn't even blink an eye when Marsha called Shiv a spoiled slut on her wedding weekend. Connor despite dating a call girl (who he did not bring to this Pierce retreat unlike Shiv's wedding) has never had his intelligence questioned or ridiculed by Logan who seems to think if this kid wants something and I give him the resources to achieve it unlike the other ones he follows through. Connor owns some Sanctuary, does Philanthropic work and in season 1 was in charge of the Waystar charity event and clearly executed it to be a success despite having his father's tendency to yell at the help/workers if they don't meet his expectations.
Very good analysis, prediction, and conclusion. I believe the rest of the show lies in exactly what you said.
As much as I enjoyed reading this deep analysis and prediction. I doubt Connor is going to be the next president. Can you imagine a guy that delusional and naive as president? Yeah, no offense but I don't see this happening. What is Logan possibly gonna gain by making Connor president? All he cares about is the company.
@@sebastianjoseph6728 wow. Have you watched the Politics on the world right now? Connor remains of Donald Trump. Like everybody laughed at his campaign like he was just a rich man dreaming of being president and then bum! He became president and I think that's exactly what would happen with Connor on the show.
@@JustMe-ic1zg I knew somebody was gonna say that Connor is somehow a representation of Connor. But unlike Trump, Connor needs a former prostitute to write his speeches (like the ridiculously hilarious speech he gave at Mo's funeral) and unlike Trump, Connor hasn't actually accomplished anything on his own other than leech on daddy. Sure, he might be a repesentation of Trump but I doubt he's gonna be president. Then the show would be more about politics rather than business.
@@sebastianjoseph6728 Have you not seen Donald Trump? Lmfao Connor is more competent than him and I am pretty sure all the Roy children have Ivy league educations and it is easy to fake their work history by saying they have tons of private sector experience in the family firm and philanthropic initiatives
Anyone watch The Devil you Know in Vice? That one junkie looks a lot like Roman! Twins!
0:44 ew
It's the Brookings Institution not Institute. Embarrassing error.
