Hi Tom,
It was a great day out with you and thank you for your support.
I haven’t had time to put out a video for a long time so apologies to those who have subscribed to me or commented and had no reply. I really will try and make more time. I do have videos partially edited so bare with me.
Once again thank you - James
Hi James,
I'm glad you enjoyed the day too; hope you didn't suffer much from the nettle stings.
No worries about the videos... only work on them when you have the time, and actually want to work on them.
🙂
Your videos bring a peace to me and to many thank you for letting us join you on your walk once again!
Thank you, I'm very glad that my videos can do that for you and others. 🙂
"I guess sometimes people just want to make a model of a big, blue cat.....and why not?".....love it!
So nice to see an upload from you Tom, and hear the guitar, listen to your soothing narrative as you search, and of course, the river.. Lovely, relaxing wander with your guest
Thanks Petri Chor, it's nice to have finally finished and uploaded this one. 🙂
After years of videos of you with others, I've learned that you are the shy and retiring type. So be it. I don't like cameras either! I never took a good picture. So I just don't! Oh the fun you will have with the kayak! So enjoy!
Thanks Mary 🙂 . It's an impediment in the way sometimes, but I've got around it and have some great fun adventures regardless. I've got a few places I want to take the kayak locally, plus there's a lovely lake in the highlands of Scotland with a castle ruin on an island in the middle. Going to go there this Summer 🙂
@@tom_burleigh would not change you for the world.
Tom, we love you the way you are and it is always a treat when you do videos with other people, even though you aren't on camera.
After a troubled day, how perfect to check your youtube channel find adventure, nature, friendship "in a bottle.".... thank you.
Thanks Artie, I'm sorry your day was troubled... hope things are easier tomorrow. 🙂
Thanks for another very, very enjoyable walk Tom. Those bottle finds were beauties. Your commentary is so descriptive and interesting; you touch on topics close to our hearts, particularly those about nature. Sue and Ian, Australia
Your appreciation of wildlife is a nice bonus
Great video as always! The copper spoon was probably silver plated when it was new.
This was a great video. I appreciate how you appreciate kingfishers and nature in general. The fact you get to see them is awesome. Thank you for sharing your talents and efforts.
Hello from California Tom… love to hear your soft spoken voice and your snarky humor…. I love to relax and wander through the waterways of the UK with you….metaphorically speaking of course…❤️
Woooo Hoooo ..... we love TB!!!
Aw, thanks Ninfa 🙂
Wonderful adventure!! Thanks for taking us along!!💕😺😺😺
Hi Tom. Just wanted to say, I really enjoy the calm and peace your videos bring. Thank you for sharing your adventures.
It's wonderful to see you Tom. Even the nettles were beautiful. Thank you for taking us along with you. I'm so happy for you both that kind people bought you both an inflatable canoe. I can't wait to see some of the videos that you plan on making while traveling on it. Please stay safe and thanks again!
I love the view from your window spring and lambing .
Very interesting lark lots of choice to take what your interested in.
As for craft ideas I have no idea make what you like that way you will finish what you start
So much loved this video walking through the nettles, and deciding what's good to collect and maybe possibly definitely not! Maybe you'll catch that kingfisher, or some kingfisher one day. Love your shots of the damselfly and bee. Thank you for sharing your mudlarking adventure!
Hello 👋 from New York USA you found some amazing finds my favorite definitely was the Decorative Japanese jug Thank you for bringing me along with you I can't wait to see what you find next 😀 😊
Oh my TWO Kingfishers? What a day!!!!
A wonderful site to dig and mudlark. Another calming and attractive video. Thanks for the video. Cheers Tom.
Hi Tom, another truly lovely walk in the brilliant green woods! You always pass on such wonderful knowledge, nettles are an anti-inflammatory, I never knew. A just spectacular view out your window Tom so happy you have that to look out upon. The large bottle with the embossed design turned out very well, you could cut it off and make a lovely vase! Best wishes from California!
I enjoy your videos, your voice is calm and relaxing.
Your commentary is interesting and informative. Thanks so much 👍
I get exactly what you mean about being an introvert I’m exactly the same I have no profile picture and hate cameras to. Your soothing voice is enough to keep me coming back along with your knowledge and great adventures just be you Xx
Great video! Thanks for taking us !😊😊😊
Introverts, guardians of silence and distance. Appreciative of the smallest pebble, distant and near birdsong, dancing leaves and determined streams.
What a lovely and peaceful video along with your delightful musings. I see the flowered bottle was not a keeper, so I hope it was for someone else as it is beautiful.
you are much much braver about the stinging nettles than i would be, anti-inflammatory or not. i always enjoy your reasoning for picking up or leaving what you decide to keep. i would keep the blue NOT because ... how perfect
You need to go back there. It was a peaceful and beautiful.
Ye it's great to see James after so long. Hope he will post new video's soon. But your video's are just so relaxing. I enjoy every single one.
Oh my goodness Tom it's Great to see a video from You 😁 I Love nature too. Thanks
!Love from the old lady in Texas USA God bless you always and forever
Some lovely finds love the aqua bottles aswell
Thanks Mary 🙂
thank you Tom from Hawaii, love your energy and expression... relaxing and interesting.
Fantastic video Tom. Sone pretty good finds too. Love the giant horseshoe, definitely from one of the heavy horses. One of my old school friends breeds and shows Shires and Clydesdales and is an international judge. Such magnificent creatures. Thanks again Tom.
Hooray! So happy to see a wonderful video from you Tom!
Thanks so much Nancy, it's been a tough one to get finished... lost motivation and it's a few weeks late, but better late than never, and I can get working on the next one now. I hope you enjoy it. 🙂
I admit I’ve been a bit impatiently waiting for a video. So I am very happy today! I have bided my time by catching up on all your old videos and a few reruns.
Thanks Kathy, and sorry for the delay; life does have a habit of getting in the way of things sometimes. 🙂
I also enjoy the jungle feel.It lets my mind wander and relax.the amount of items in these dumps amazes me,i can only imagin what lies beneath the surface. The kayak looks like it is going to be great fun.i would have to bring a fishing pole just to see what kinds of fish are in there. Thanks again and stay safe.
Enjoyable video nice to see you back very relaxing watch 🤗
22:30 "Going on a Bear Hunt"? How lovely! My Aunt read/acted that out to me as a child. I haven't heard that referenced in years!
I love your stories and history. Love from Canada 🇨🇦
Star Wars bag cute!
Morning for me here while I watch and drink coffee... thnx for the video tom..luv the nettle walk ☺️. C u nxt time
Nice haul! Keep on finding cool bits of history!!
Thank you for the video, Tom. I enjoyed it as always. I totally understand and respect your shyness. All is good.. smiles from Washington State..
Thank you for another calming video
Thanks Juliane, I'm glad you enjoyed it. 🙂
Going around with a kayak would be a great adventure. MB.
Brilliant video Tom, great to see a familiar location, which as you said has yielded a few treasures for a number of UA-camrs. The nature shots were great too, both the bee and the damsel fly... But I think your excuse for taking home too many bottles was worthy of top marks 😄 "will power waned by nettle stings" 😂 Brilliant! Take care 🙂😎🐼
That orange lense just after James arrived. I used to have the road lamp it belonged too in my bedroom when I was a young teen. That’s a good idea to use the pointer stick for pieces of metals. I actually learnt to knit through lockdown and made a teddy haha. Vintage coffee grinder looked nice. I have to be honest Tom, Collette is a huge fan of yours and your videos have often been on the tv that I have heard in the background. Tonight I have watched from the start and I can see why she enjoyed yours channel, For me, I find your content very relaxing to watch, You have good quality camera, nice music and a very good production of your finds. Very well put together. I am still very new to this and watching different videos really helps with my knowledge of learning the Mudlarking world. Like the old watch you picked up, I would of just walked right past that. Awww I just missed out on filming a kingfisher a couple weeks back. They are so fast. At least you got a good shot of the damsel fly. I always think the same when I see the telegraph poles if the workmen did a little bottle digging at the same time.
Tom, You could make a mosaic from the fragments of poison bottles by lining them up to read as, "To be, or not to be...taken." 😀
13:45 You have a knack for creating fantastic creatures, so you could make them out of glass shards, similar to Nicola White's fish sculptures. :)
Ooh... that would be quite a challenge. I'm used to clay, and carving wood; currently trying to sculpt in metal too... glass would be something well outside of my comfort zone. Might have to try it, thanks Noralee. 🙂
Another really great video Tom, thoroughly enjoyed it.
Hi Tom. Glad to see you safe an sound.
Thanks Pat. 🙂
That was a lovely park with James!
It’s mid November here in Ontario Canada so seeing the green is a warm reminder of what I look forward to.
The bottle you are keeping and the one next to it are very attractive.
Your anonymous kayak patrons were very kind indeed.
I look forward to seeing your next video.
Your Videos are Fantastic ❤️❤️
Tom, I think it's great that you hide your identity, it adds mystery as to what you might look like, especially with your amazing voice💚💙🖤
Thanks Marie. I'm going to keep on hiding from the camera 🙂
Always lovely :)
Thanks Kathryn 🙂
I understand not wanting your image public.....it's what makes you unique
thank you for taking me with you on your romp through the nettles! did you happen to see if Toad had his motorcar with him?
i think from what you said about the nettles that i should prefer them to whatever bit me this week; either a black widow spider or perhaps a scorpion! ow ow ow, getting better now. you be careful out there! i was afraid you would fall into the river! thanks again!
Another great video! I looked online and found out that nettles do grow in northern New Mexico, but they need lots of water, which is hard to find in most of the state. A good portion of the state has large wildfires at the moment, and we were under a possible evacuation order last week, which has now been cancelled. The alert status is now called "Ready, Set, Go!", and we were under the "Set" stage last week. But people who left during the set stage are back, and my husband's boss caught covid, which hasn't gone away yet. A round about way to say that your videos give me a chance to see another part of the world, and I appreciate it.
I enjoy your storytelling so much. Just came back to Germany from my visit to London and the Thames foreshore. Lots of mudlarking and some tiny finds. Kevin Dyer made a video when we met, if you want to see me in action on the foreshore. Have a great weekend!
good to have you back
Thank you, good to be back. 🙂
Thank you. I enjoy your videos very much!
Thanks Maureen. 🙂
I am one who understands not wanting to be on camera. It is also nice to see all the ways people film and share their videos, if they were all the same it wouldn't be any fun to watch everyone. I personally think my voice is terrible, although I can be heard talking to some of the animals in my videos with a high pitched child like voice instead of the one I normally use. The best part of being human is all our differences along with our similarities coming together to become individuals. I really enjoy your videos, and am glad to have found your channel. All my best.
Thank you for the usual lovely tube.you area very interesting man.enjoy you're videos very much.
Thank you Sioned 🙂
Another fantastic meandering. I just love all your finds. I could see me taking a lot of your finds and discards.. lol … thank you for taking us along.
Nice, thanks.
Lovely video Tom! So good to see you out with James. Looking forward to the next one 😁💗 x
Hi Tom I have collected 3 bottles of broken trail glass, cobalt, light blue and emerald green. I tumble them with quartz rock and dish soap to clean and remove sharp edges. I will be using the nice ones for jewelry projects, larger pieces I might make a wind chime or stained glass window out of..
Thanks Tom, I'm hoping to get a tumbler sometime... though will have to look into the possibility of building a soundproof cabinet for it to live in first. 🙂
@@tom_burleigh Well the plastic one I had did make alot of noise, but the heavier duty one with rubber cup is very quiet.
Lovely video thanks Tom
Thanks Linda, I'm glad you enjoyed it. 🙂
Well hello Tom was wondering where you were. Love the search in the dump.
Thanks Sherry, just been flailing ineffectively at all the disparate things I want to be doing, and somehow this video eventually arrived. Two weeks later than intended, but hopefully I'll be successful in getting myself better organised. 🙂
What you said about letting your subconscious guide you (approximately 17:28) really resonated with me. I do tend to let my subconscious guide me, and I am seldom disappointed.
Thanks for another visual treat, the vegetation with all the gorgeous shades of green is so lovely.
Thanks Erin. Glad that it's not just me that let's my subconscious guide me around. I'm glad too that you enjoyed the vegetation, it was a lovely day of greens. 🙂
Another wonderful video Tom.
Thank you
Thanks David, I'm glad to have finally finished it and uploaded, only a few weeks later than intended. 🙂
05:44 Oh Tom - that makes me so sad. You are not only NOT the worst, but your introversion & camera shyness are endearing. They adds a wonderful, genteel cache to your collaborative videos. Please do try not to pillory yourself quite so much.
Ah, please don't feel sad about it Noralee, it was something of a message to other channels who want to film with me. I'm getting quite a few offers from people who need to be gently told the reality of what such a meet-up would entail. I hope you had a wonderful 70th Birthday, and thank you for all your kind words. 🙂
I laughed out loud with your story of baby slugs= drugs it reminded me of my daughter when aged 5 who needed an EEG done whilst sleeping with with small electrodes glued to her scalp, bostick, it took days to get off. They told her that the ‘liquid’ drink they were to give her would put her to sleep for the test. She point blank refused to drink it because our cat Marmalade had recently had to be ‘put to sleep’ as he was very unwell. Great way kids relate things.
👍
Pozdrawiam serdecznie 🇵🇱
Dziękuję. 🙂
UA-cam stopped telling me when you have a new video out, very annoying but now I have a good few videos to binge 🥳
Some beautiful pieces of blue and white Tom I know that James will definitely find a use for them like he did previously for making floor tiles for his small cloakroom. I've been picking up pieces of plastic coated copper wire from the Thames foreshore and am going to use it to wrap around some pottery/china pieces for pendants, I'm also currently working on a Thames foreshore copper pipe and cutlery windchime which I hope to finish soon.
I think James made use of the blue and white, making a splash back behind the kitchen sink, and tiles that clad the risers on the stairs of his UK home. His projects really are inspirational... and I may copy some of them if I ever have my own non-rented house. Both of your projects sound great... I'll certainly be using copper wire like that too if I ever get around to making some jewellery. I did make a wire spiderweb today (video out in time for halloween), and I'm planning on making a bouquet of flowers out of copper pipe. 🙂
@@tom_burleigh Your wire spiderweb is going to be brilliant for Halloween! Your bouquet of flowers idea sounds very interesting -I'd never of thought of that, I have so many projects at various stages at the moment with the windchime in copper pipe and cutlery and another made with clay pipe stems, a couple of blue and white mosaic hearts that will be going to the west country when they are finished, a colbalt blue glass fish (the Thames has been very generous with blue glass pieces for me of late) I wanted to make a fish to hang alongside one that I have from Nicola White of Tideline Art. There is always something different to find and be inspired by whilst mudlarking or even just walking in countryside or along a beach the opportunities are endless.
Missing your videos and your calming voice......we can hope
Lovely walk with wonderful finds
Thanks Angela, I'm glad you enjoyed it. 🙂
The aqua/blue tinged bottles are gorgeous! I may hit some antique stores and if the price is nominal I may buy them! I have the perfect ledges and fairy lights inside would be so pretty! Great idea Tom!
Nettles, glorious nettles! They say they grow here but I've not found them! I did however buy a packet of seed, but so far nuttin'! I'll try a little later in summer. They are packed with nutrients, and it only takes a quick boil to disable the stingers...or pick the young tips for salads.
They like wood ash, so if you have some of that it might make the difference. They certainly are packed with nutrients, I've made pesto with them (not as nice as wild garlic, but still quite good in the right foods), and had the tips fresh picked from the plants. I hope you have success, both in growing some, and finding some nice bottles for your fairy lights. 🙂
@@tom_burleigh I will definitely try the wood ash. I have a feeling there was too much compost/old manure mixed in with this dirt and it's quite acidic. Thank you!😊
PS I'm in touch with paypal and will resolve today!
Thanks so much Spicencens, you've been very generous and kind. I'm very grateful. 🙂
I love your videos...I always watch them. They make me want to come to the UK just to check out those places!! We don't have those kind of dig sites in the U.S.
I have an idea for you Tom for the clear colored glass pieces. Buy some 3/16" copper foil with an adhesive backing and wrap it around the pieces, then solder them together. Much cheaper than buying sheets of stained glass and you will get a Folk Art look and still be beautiful to put into a shed window, etc...
don't have to be as neat when it isn't being used to sell or to fit perfectly into a window opening. You can also put your finished product into a picture frame and then hang in your home in front of a window to catch the light. The stained glass world calls them "suncatchers." Have fun if you do decide to try this.
Thank you, I'll order some copper foil and give that a try. 🙂
@@tom_burleigh Your friend that does stained glass might give you some tips. It's fairly straight forward, you just need patience.
I love that flower bottle you found!! Looking forward to all the queued videos :)
I so Enjoy your calming video content, Tom.
Thank you, I'm glad 🙂
Hello Tom. Good to see you out and about. As always, I enjoyed your video. Thank you.
Thanks Janice. It was a nice day, I'm glad you enjoyed watching along. 🙂
I was just thinking I remember Tom told me he had a dump site video coming out a few weeks ago. I look and hear you are! Wonderful thank you
Thanks Stefanie, a few weeks later than I'd intended; life does so get in the way sometimes. 🙂
Stay safe Tom. Thanks for your video, I always enjoy them.
Thanks Mary, I hope you're keeping safe and well too. 🙂
Very nice lark in 2021. Playing catch-up on videos? Only drawback is hearing about virus, enuf of that. The dump is a lovely area and it's nice seeing nature taking it back. Appreciate your info on the horses and industry. Nice finds, do anything with it all in 2022?🤔👍 Always enjoy your narratives, hope your well. 🤗
Thank you for taking the time to edit and post. Even if it was filmed a while back, it is good to hear your voice. I watch it during the day and then as I relax to sleep visualize what you're talking about.
Hope you and yours stay well.
Oh! I watched a video of a girl mudlarking a beach today. She found 3 tiny ornate bottle stoppers. You of course came to mind.
Thanks Annie, I'm so glad my videos help relax people; mudlarking has always been quite relaxing for me, mentally, (whilst also being physically tiring). 🙂
Hi Tom, nice to hear you and wander with you. The kayak will be so useful a great tool to have, take care🙂
Thanks Charlotte. I agree, it's going to be great fun taking the Kayak out into some of the places I have in mind. 🙂
It’s such a nice surprise to find your video today! I hope to see more in the weeks to come. I appreciate your interest in dioramas. From grade four to six I did one each year as a class study. There were so many moss and lichen to crest with.
Go out in your canoe and employ what you find in yet another pleasant video.
You may have trouble with separating out nickel. I read about separating out cobalt from nickel, because I am allergic to cobalt, and the early people who did that work died from arsenic gas before they knew what they were doing.
The copper tableware I have come across is usually silver plated and you only know when the silver coating wears through.
I still love your music.
The broken pipe stem is missing the T. The mark for a Tennant pipe.
Yeah, I figured it was probably that, thanks for confirming.🙂
Don't know how I missed this video yesterday, but Sunday I was in bed early for a midnight shift. So very nice to wander around with you again Tom, seems like it has been a while, so you were missed. Hope this finds you well and enjoying yourself.
So much stinging nettle! You could dry it for tea!
What lovely woods! As a child, I roamed the woods around my house, we lived in a very rural area ( in Central Florida) and had lots of woods to explore. My friend and I ran into a few venomous snakes but, the worst we ran into was two men with guns. We were lucky not to have ever been harmed in all our ramblings. Needless to say I had a rather adventurous childhood! Happy wandering to you, too, Tom! ✌🏼❤️
Thanks Lisa, yours sounds like a great childhood 🙂. I roamed the woods too, but there were no snakes, and far fewer guns. I hope you're still able to get out for exploration and time in nature. 🙂
If you could find enough pieces, you could assemble a “deconstructed“ poison bottle in a frame.
Your videos are always enjoyable despite those nasty nettles. They are the bane of my gardening life, as they are taking over several of my beds.
Hope you find a nettle free area to lark during the summer.
Thanks Kathy... through the Summer I'll be mostly river walking... there are still nettles along the bank, but nothing like what was on that site. 🙂
