    What an interesting setup! I dig it, feel you on keeping the IC coolant just for the IC and not the turbo as well. Lots of high end pieces there man thats dope! I’m curious if the a2w ic setup cools it enough to compensate for the added weight vs just a regular IC but warmer air/less power 🤔

    • @FAZEDTom
      @FAZEDTom  4 роки тому +1

      Hmmm yeah I haven't thought about the added weight of the air to water IC but that's a good point. The other benefit of this IC is the direct plumbing to the intake manifold, which will increase responsiveness and reduce how much boost is dropped between the turbo and IM (making for a more efficient use of the turbo). Honestly, the increased difficulty (caused by this IC) of working on this engine is making me want to ditch it. I can't even access my shifter without taking the entire IC off 😭 and pulling the engine now involves uninstalling the IC/draining more fluids

    POG 1k subs! Thoughts on switching over to an air to air intercooler, a nice big FMIC? less complicated for a street car and will get rid of all those hoses. it will clean up the engine bay as well you can route the pipes to accommodate them in the manner you want them to. Plus you can place the intake in a similar location as oem away from the turbo.

      Woo! What's up Ray, I've actually given that idea a lot of thought. I love the simplicity of an air-to-air IC and it would make this engine way more easy to work on. I did take a look at the back side of the block and saw that I could probably route boost piping between the DP and block, but it would be tight. Ideally, I'd switch the turbo around so that the intake is on the left and DP on the right, but then I'll need a new custom DP and wg pipe to match 💸 both of those items would be required when upgrading the exhaust manifold which is on my eventual wish list, so I'll probably to wait to do IC, manifold, wg, dp, and exhaust all around the same time 😅🤑 haha

      FAZED Yeah I know man it’s been a whole 3 months process. Good thing I started at the beginning of this summer. I plan on uploading a video of it all to UA-cam once done. But as far as tuning I’m going with United Motorsport.

    this thing looks like a bear to work on. Super cool though - will be following.
    edit: 8:14 - you could potentially run that battery somewhere else if you're not afraid to run some length of cable. Would free up space.

    How do you do this swap, is there any form which lists how you do it, a swap kit?

    • @FAZEDTom
      @FAZEDTom  3 роки тому

      Hey there aren't any kits so you have to piece everything together yourself. There's a great 2.5 community with a lot of helpful guys willing to assist you if you decide to 2.5 swap your car. It's a fairly simple swap if you have a modern vw. DM me on IG @fazed.yt if you have any specific questions

      @@FAZEDTom you getting a better one or going air to air?

    • @FAZEDTom
      @FAZEDTom  4 роки тому

      I'm going air to air. I love the air to water but it makes working on the car a lot more difficult. I'm probably going to have the engine in and out of the car a few more times and it adds a lot of work. I can't even access the right side of the engine or the shifter without taking the IC out lol.
