Same thing here, when I hit play nothing was happening. I finally got it to work after adding more points to the curve using the Match Knots button (rebuilding curve didn't work for me like it worked in tutorials from older Maya versions, so I suspect they changed the functionality).
@@alanvolpe36 i just saw a cmmt form Autodesk community, said u need to tweak the "dropoff distance" in the wire deformer to see its effect, hope this helps others since ur cmmt was 2 yrs ago from mine, worked for me btw
I tried 3 different versions of maya and can't make this work. The nHair curve works fine but the geo does not move with it after attaching the wire deformer... any other trick to this?
Does your geometry not move at all or get distorted? If it is not affected at all, there’s a chance that wire deformer is not applied properly. Try applying wire deformer in order since it is quite an out-dated solution which makes it quite tricky to apply.
This method worked perfectly for what my project required!! Thanks so so much!
Super helpful! Although my constraint wont interact with the wire
It doesn't work at all . I hit ''enter '' after I selected the curve just like in this video and nothing happened

@@nikkiii_burrito where's that button plz ? Maya's telling me "Cycle may not evaluated as expected" help
Make sure you match "start frame" to your timeline framerange. It will always start on frame 1. Could be a solution for some

I tried to make this work with a custom mesh (helix, coiled wire), but as soon as the hair bends, the mesh stretches unnaturally. Any idea why?
Solved. In the wire deformer, increase the drop-off distance value.
Thanks for the video!
nice tutorial.
just what i wanted
Very informative tutorial. Thank you :)
Is it exportable in FBX?
