    I tried them both, we went with the 2022 GC L and have no regrets. It feels so premium and is so comfortable to drive city or highway. The infotainment system is absolutely top notch and looks better integrated into the dash instead of the tablet style slapped on top. Apple car play works flawlessly and is wireless in the GC. All 3 rows are comfortable and spacious, I’m over 6’1” and I can fit comfortably in the 3rd row which isn’t the case for a lot of 3 rows we test drove before making our purchase. V6 is powerful, transmission is smooth and it always seems to be in the right gear. It won’t blow your socks off with speed but off the the line it is quite peppy for the size and was quicker than I’d expected. I’d buy this vehicle again tomorrow in a heartbeat.

      My wife and I went with the Jeep GCL Limited. Our Luxury Tech II package included ventilated seats, upgraded cameras, wireless charging, rear sunshades etc. a little over 55k out the door. We also tried the Wagoneer out for a few days it was nice but did not fit in the garage, & in Texas heat that’s a non-negotiable.
      Coming from an Audi SQ5 and Porsche Macan this meets our desires/must haves out of a 3-row vehicle, particularly for a growing family. I just couldn’t see us driving a Kia for a few years after the hype dies down. This was also her push gift, I still have the Porsche Macan S. We’re confident we made the right decision and my wife who always wanted this truck loves it. FamCam is the new wave for toddlers/newborn ❤️‍🔥😮‍💨

    The GC Summit Reserve is such a nice vehicle. For long trips the driver assist that steers and controls the speed for you is really amazing. Closest thing to a Tesla type experience I've seen. Massage seats, night vision camera that alerts you to something like a deer, 21" wheels, 19 McIntosh speakers and just an insanely nice interior front to back. It's worth the money. And as all Jeeps, it will HOLD IT'S VALUE.

    As a former owner of three Hyundai products (same as Kia) I’d like to address the warranty difference. Quality issues and failures plagued both my Sonata and Santa Fe. When going to the dealership to address issues, the dealer did not actually have the authority to do repairs. They had to get authorization from a higher authority. This process sometimes took days. Sometimes our dealership had to argue on our behalf when the answer came back “no”. We had a phantom electrical problem which only showed up when it rained. This problem never got fixed. The drivers seat leather is paper thin and split within 3 years. Hyundai only fixed it after we threatened a lawsuit. We ended up selling the Sante Fe back to them and buying a Honda. We had several issues - way way more problems than our Honda CRV and we always seemed to be arguing with Hyundai. Be aware, the long warranty is not without its baggage. You will feel like you have to beg to get warranty repairs or argue against the “normal wear and tear” excuse. I also had a Genesis which IS a high quality car, but that too let me down. It was a great car until I bought it into the dealership for a recall and they reprogrammed the motor which took much of the power out of the motor. It was no longer the powerful luxury car i purchased. Hyundai said nothing about it and when I questioned them, they just said it was a reliability update. No more Korean made vehicles for me. I ended up leaving the Genesis right there. I’m tired of fighting that fight.

      It has everything for long travels, but wish the tank were at least 30 gallons. Mine got 550 miles per tank, 23 mpg at 75 miles.

    I bought my 2011 GC with 63k. Now it has 104k. No issues in my time of owning it. It has the Pentastar V6. I would choose the Jeep just because the Pentastar is a fantastic engine and the 8 speed is a very solid transmission, but it also does the most and rides the best with the Quadra lift air suspension. I just wish they made the V8 available on all trims.

But I quickly fell out of love with it and ultimately traded it in for the new GMC 1500 Sierra X31... I would definitely recommend the Telluride for families with small children... I love the telluride but I went with the Jeep as the telluride wait was over 4 months and it has this horribly annoying and uncomfortable dead pedal next to the brake. I’m 6’4 so comfort is really important to me. The Jeep fit me like a glove. I was even able to get $3500 off with an employee discount. I went with the old one because I was able to get the 5.7 at a 50k price point. The new L is only offering the 5.7 on higher trim levels. I also heard that the new L is 50lbs lighter than the old GC. Sometimes in design, increase in weight results in increase performance/durability. So where did engineering make the weight vs strength trades, I would love to know.

At my 3rd dealership (that I almost didn't go to), I found the EX in the color I wanted . I wanted an SX in white and no one had any and wouldn't trade another dealer nor order me a new one from the factory. They had one SX in Wolf Gray and nothing else. After I bought the car, the dealer said he only had 5 Kia's left on the lot. He was effectively going to be selling used cars (any brand) by November. I hope they all suffer for taking advantage and charging exorbitant prices . I have NEVER (until now) paid MSRP. The dealer probably made $15000 in profit including my trade in. The car absolutely is a great car, especially if you can get one under MSRP.

I’d like to know how these two compare if one was actually to use them as SUVs (ie light off-roading if going camping, or performance in the snow if going skiing, etc).

      RIGHT, there is a video where someone took their Telluride off road into the snow with the 20/21 inch all season tires and once the tires started continually spinning the KIA shut down probably due to drivetrain temp. as a lockout to prohibit damage which is a good idea in a way. There is no use tackling heavy snow and ice with 20 inch all season tires, most reviewers admit the 20's are for looks but 18 is MUCH better for trail/offroad. NOT a good idea to constantly spin with the wrong tires but i doubt the Telluride would come close to the GC. I had a 1996 Grand Cherokee 5.2 for 12 years and always used AT tires but manufacturers realize most wont be taken offroad so they equip with all season, 2021 GC comes with 265/18 tires, i have been looking at a few Laredo models for about 35K with rebates.

    Great comparo Brothers! Nobody can deny the Telluride's value. It literally mixes luxury and mainstream with a surgical precision. Yes, the wood is "plood" and there is a "aluma-look" trim, BUT it is how they put it all together. Factoring in the standard driver assistance suite, heads up display, and other luxuries for "$50k"(more like $60k in my neck of the woods right now), it is an outstanding value. Yes, on paper, the GC is inferior. It is missing a few of the luxuries and other items this SX has, but Jeep has to do something that Kia does not: Also incorporate a real 4WD system into the vehicle. That cost has to come from somewhere, and Jeep takes it from some of the interior features. With the current pricing of the Telluride, this SX should've been measured against the Summit(not Reserve), which offers all of the features and more that this Kia has, in addition to air suspension, opt V8, etc. These two all come down to what it is important: the Kia is certainly worth a look, but at 20-30% over MSRP right now, absolutely not, whereas the GC can be purchases at MSRP or less and not be upside down severely.

It’s design has been around for ages and is a nod to how well it will age over time. Kia on the other hand has a design which will be overhauled as soon as new iteration hits. Cadillac has used vertical lights for ages but now has moved away. Interior design is where GCL leaves Telluride in the dust. Tablet screen design is about 12 years old and most premium automakers (Porsche Audi etc.) are moving away from it. I think Jeep nailed it. Not sure which lots you are looking at or at all but you’re not going to find a 4x4 GC L Summit configured for less than $65K. A few months ago I heavily favored the Grand Cherokee L until I drove one. The engine lunges like crazy on the L with the 3.6. By the way Chrysler is the one playing the markup addendum game at a lot of the dealers not Kia. This publisher is a little out of touch with the Grand Cherokee L. A fully loaded limited trim will run you close to $56K just on sticker with the Luxury Tech Group that gives you ventilated front seats and some other stuff. I would never do business with a dealer that charges markup on a KIA vehicle for crying out loud. I just ordered my 22’ Telluride SX Prestige AWD with nappa leather for right around $48,5K. There are plenty of Kia dealers around without markup. Given the $7K price difference between loaded Telluride and low trim Limited GC L I’ll take the Telluride any day. You have to go up over $60K Overland to get all the off road features that aren’t even available on Limited trim at all.

    Good details and comparison , but there are some things left out. For instance the Telluride is no way comparable to the Jeep in off road, or towing capacity. American Cars dont always match feature for feature at similar trim levels, but they are getting better. The Jeep aims for towing and true off road market, not just elevated all wheel. I looked at the telluride but it can only tow 5000 lbs, meaning I can't tow my own trailer. My Jeep (third one I've owned) can tow 7200 lbs, and hit off road areas the Telluride couldnt touch. Not trying to poopoo the Kia but for many jeep owners they buy them for more than electronics and features. Hello gentlemen Drew and Mason. That's good that in addition to doing vehicle review videos you guys do vehicle comparison videos as well. Not a lot of them, but only a select few of You Tube vehicle reviewers do a vehicle comparison video. When I saw the title of this video w/o starting to watch it yet, I had a general idea that the Kia Telluride would receive more points over the Jeep Grand Cherokee L based on what you guys said in a prior video about favorite SUV. Sure enough after watching the video the Telluride received more points. This comparison video between the Jeep Grand Cherokee L and Kia Telluride was based on price points. However, myself and others think the comparison should've been based on trim level tier ranking. If it was done like that maybe the Jeep Grand Cherokee L would've gotten more points for the win or it would've been a tie between the two vehicles. The SX trim in this video for the Kia Telluride is the fourth tier trim which is also the high tier trim. As for the Jeep Grand Cherokee L the trim level used in this video for the comparison was the Limited trim which is the third tier trim. That's the third tier trim out of the six tier trims available. Since the SX trim for the Telluride is the top of the line trim which is also the fourth tier trim, that trim level should've been used to compare the fourth tier Overland trim for the Jeep Grand Cherokee L. If not that, then the third tier EX trim for the Telluride in comparison to the third tier Limited trim for the Jeep Grand Cherokee L. So, the comparison should've been trim level tier ranking order to trim level tier ranking order. As for the Jeep Grand Cherokee L in the Limited trim it's good to note some advantages for it over the Telluride in the SX trim. The Jeep has active grille shutters, has a sensor to alert the driver if the hood is open while driving, more USB ports (6 USB ports, 6 USB-C ports), has a larger fuel tank at 23 gallons while the Kia Telluride has 18.8 gallons and greater towing capacity at 6,200 pounds with the V6 engine while the Telluride has towing capacity at 5,000 pounds with its V6 engine. Due to the fact that both of these vehicles are SUVs, the one thing they must do w/o hesitation is off roading. The Jeep Grand Cherokee L would do a better job maneuvering through the off roading courses with more ground clearance and a more advanced four wheel drive system. I know you guys are in preparation on making a comparison video between the new generation Toyota Highlander and new generation Nissan Pathfinder. Between those two vehicles I think the advantage goes to the Pathfinder. More third row seating space and more space behind the third row. Also, it would do a better job off roading. Should be an interesting matchup between those two vehicles when the time comes for the comparison video.

      Different manufacturers assign different features at different levels. A loaded limited is fairly on point with a loaded SX prestige so why would you expand the goal post per se and use different trims where price is way out of whack and are no longer looking at apples to apples.

    • @jefferybaxter1225
      @jefferybaxter1225 3 роки тому

      @@lukejones5870 I already know manufacturers assign different features to other trim levels. We all know that. Everybody knows that. That wasn't the purpose for my message post. The goal post wasn't expanded. All I said was to keep the trim levels in line with each other. Simple as that. So, in comparison if a third tier trim level from one vehicle is used that means a third tier trim level from another vehicle should be used when competing with each other. In reference to overall fairness that would be the way for comparison. Why choose a lower trim with one vehicle and choose a higher trim with another vehicle? Why do that? In general the Jeep Grand Cherokee L has six trim levels and the Kia Telluride has four trim levels. The SX trim for the Telluride is the "top of the line" trim while for the Jeep Grand Cherokee L the Limited trim is not the top of the line. Not the top of the line due to being the third tier in order. In the trim level lineup for the Jeep the trim level that's fourth in line is the Overland trim. Just like how the SX trim is fourth in line which is also the top of the line trim for the Telluride, the Overland trim which is also fourth in line for the Jeep Grand Cherokee L should've been used for comparison. Should've been used because for the Overland trim level that still wouldn't be their highest trim level or "top of the line" trim because there are two other trims after that. As I mentioned in my initial post the Limited trim for the Jeep Grand Cherokee L has the advantage over the SX trim for the Kia Telluride because it has active grille shutters, a larger fuel tank, a tighter turning radius, front facing camera, interior camera, would do a way better job maneuvering off roading courses and other stuff I said which should've gotten mentioned in the video.

      Yes, they took off many features from the Palisade including the 12.3 inch instrument cluster that you get even in a 18K Hyundai Elantra. It's only there in the top-trim Sorento. But the Telluride handles better while the Palisade has softer springs tuned for comfort.

    I went to the dealer here in NYC, and they was marking up the Telluride for 10k. Meaning the SX is about 60k, same with Palisade calligraphy about 60k. For that price is better to get yourself a Grand Cherokee L Overland which is about the same price Telluride and Palisade are selling right now in NYC. This video does the Limited because is in price competition with the Telluride, but with the mark up of 10k here in NYC it is competing with Overland. And at that price I will buy the Overland.

      I ran into the same issue. Was checking out the palisade and the Telluride top trim packages and they had a $10,000 MSRP mark up on them. I ended up with a grand Cherokee L Overland and couldn’t be more happy.

      @@luey53 Be truthful what you really paid. If you get the Pro Tech and Luxury Tech packages and the off road badge on the Overland you’re looking at $65K and it’s hardly an overland without getting those packages. $68K if you want to get the overland spec’ed with V8. Kia’s Genesis GV80 is of better value and luxury at that price point.

    I'll take the Kia Telluride! The new Jeep GCL interior is nice with some luxury components. However, the styling is not youthful to me compare to the Telluride. Telluride these days is getting a lot of attention by turning heads with their Range Rover-like design. If I'm not mistaken, I gotta pay $70k to get rear ventilated seats on the Jeep GCL. While the Kia Telluride offers it for nearly $20k less. And Kia has the best powertain warranty in the market. And let this be clear, Kia is now a brand that deserve recognition. They are Korean cars that is designed and built by Germans who had worked with Audi/VW, BMW, Porsche, just to name a few. So save me with the who-ha comments about their reliability for those who are stuck in a 90s time warp.

    Given that the scores are very close.I have to go with Kia given the very generous warranty as well as 360 camera, headsup display,turn signal cameras,power folding mirrors and lower price tag.The Cherokee held its own however it couldn’t take the barrage of punches that the telluride threw at it ,so the Kia gets the technical knockout.

      @soumikcom 3 роки тому +1

      @@setdwoo That's what you get for the same price. If you want to price match a $80k car, you have the Genesis GV80 if you want to compare features. The top trim of the Cherokee L is in the BMW X7 territory, not to mention Jeep's unreliability and lower warranty. I had FCA (now Sellantis) cars in the past and they always had some problem or the other.

    • @setdwoo
      @setdwoo 3 роки тому +1

      @@soumikcom not sure what reliability issues you had but the v6 and v8 versions are well proven. I have had 2 JGC now. The first has an unlimited mile unlimited year bumper to bumper warranty from FCA. 275k miles and still running strong. My second has an unlimited mile 8 year b2b warranty. I feel like it is disingenuous to compare vastly different trim levels. The GV80 is a very good comparison. The kia not so much.

    Love the Telluride , family members owned a pair GC limiteds and they were always in the shop for water pumps, transfer cases this that or something. This review was great and maybe the past Jeep issues have been addressed . Hyundai/Kia appears to have had the same prior Jeep issues and corrected them along with a very impressive warranty. The Jeep is always impressive and hopefully the Italians let what made an American icon remain a icon. I would still purchase the Kia , for the past few years nothing has toppled it as the best 3rd row SUV not even Jeep so far.

    You say they have the same driver seat controls, however you did not point out the Telluride does have one more important one which is the extended leg support adjust. You even see the button when you are comparing them.

    In my opinion the Kia is a mini van that can power the rear wheels in a slippery situation. I've driven both vehicles, and for me the clear choice was the GC L. I pull a boat and need the higher tow rating, I will do some minor off road driving at times, and I still want a luxury vehicle to take my customers out in. The Kia really rolled/leaned a lot in turns, and I found the interior to be nice, but just not as nice as the GC. I've reserved the GC L Overland with the technology package, and it should be here in a couple of weeks.

    Check out the Overland model of the Jeep Grand Cherokee. More expensive? Yes! But 10x better interior and features than the Grand Cherokee Limited OR the Kia Telluride. Massage seats? Yep! Digital mirror? Yep! Heads up display? Yep! Plus you get that 360 degree camera view that was missing in the Limited when doing this review. Hope that helps!
