no one should have to feel shame or guilt after sex. and that's easier said than done but imo the best way to avoid those feelings and actually feel secure and confident about the whole thing is to do aftercare. usually that refers to planning ahead of time how you both will want to come back to earth immediately after sex, and it can also be something more spontaneous. you can also check in about it a few days or a week after sex, bc sometimes things come up in the moment that you might not process until later. aftercare can serve many specific purposes and it can describe many different activities. i think a lot of people do cuddling as aftercare without necessarily calling it that. as someone with sexual trauma, i really benefit a lot from my partner(s) holding me and reassuring me that they had a good time - mentioning specific things they particularly enjoyed - and reassuring me that they still like me just as much as before. but you don't need to have trauma in order to benefit from something like that. there is a lot of guilt and shame surrounding sex built into our society (where we live), and i think it's fairly common to suddenly feel insecure about the overall relationship (romantic or otherwise), specific actions you did, and/or about yourself, whether externally or internally. i really wish more people talked about this kind of stuff bc it can be so beneficial to all parties involved. and if you have sexual trauma, it can be such a game-changer. i think everyone should have conversations with their partner(s) about each person's needs, from the agreement/discussion about having sex stage all the way to the putting clothes back on and transitioning into a different activity.

Yeah ikr. I'm not a fan of hand holding or public affection, but my love language is Acts of Service and Words of Affirmation. So when we're out together I shout them lunch or tease them about how cute they look. We can sit for hours in the library just SITTING and enjoying each other's company. Yeah it's cool.

Oh my God you just reminded me when I was in high school I was dating this guy and he literally made me stay up with him on the phone till 3 AM knowing I had school in the morning. to top it off I was already feeling sick and every time I would start to fall asleep he would start talking to wake me up. I was 17 at the time so I didn’t really know too much about toxic behaviors or what red flags to look for, but looking back, oh my god.
The way they make these women act like children makes me so uncomfortable. It's really damaging to people in their teens to act like and be treated like children in this romantic context. I was groomed by a pedophile in my teens and a lot of that was him trying to regress me mentally to act more like a child and question him less. People being like that after intimacy or doing it alone can also be related to unaddressed trauma and repulsion that they keep pushing down (which can also come from the trauma), and many guys never address the potential trauma and negative ways its been modeled for them because of how mental health is treated as weak to address. I understand where you're coming from, but "Just get over it" accidentally feeds into it, instead of trying to push the feelings down, they should express with their partner the guilt or shame they've been feeling and figure out how to communicate to reduce those feelings, maybe seek therapy or bring it up to their therapist if they already have one, etc. Many patterns like that exist for women too, only the trauma and causes are usually a little more talked about by comparison.

Yeah I’m in my first relationship right now (at 20 ancient years). It’s really not all it’s cracked up to be; I feel no different from when I was single. People are just different. I got in my first relationship at 21, after having dreamed about it for so long. I never got in any relationships because no one felt like the right person for it. But when I met my current partner, a lot in my life changed, and it made a huge difference for me. He brought so much new to my life, and finally feeling like I am with the person I want to be with for the rest of my life makes me feel more complete. All that most likely ties into what my ideal future is, which is simply to have a loving family of my own, and being with the person I love more than anything is a big step in that direction. Oh my God you just reminded me when I was in high school I was dating this guy and he literally made me stay up with him on the phone till 3 AM knowing I had school in the morning.

I was 17 at the time so I didn’t really know too much about toxic behaviors or what red flags to look for, but looking back, oh my god.
The way they make these women act like children makes me so uncomfortable. It's really damaging to people in their teens to act like and be treated like children in this romantic context. I was groomed by a pedophile in my teens and a lot of that was him trying to regress me mentally to act more like a child and question him less. This shit is so dangerous and manipulative and I need people to talk about it more

People being like that after intimacy or doing it alone can also be related to unaddressed trauma and repulsion that they keep pushing down (which can also come from the trauma), and many guys never address the potential trauma and negative ways its been modeled for them because of how mental health is treated as weak to address.
I understand where you're coming from, but "Just get over it" accidentally feeds into it, instead of trying to push the feelings down, they should express with their partner the guilt or shame they've been feeling and figure out how to communicate to reduce those feelings, maybe seek therapy or bring it up to their therapist if they already have one, etc.
Many patterns like that exist for women too, only the trauma and causes are usually a little more talked about by comparison.

Yeah I’m in my first relationship right now (at 20 ancient years). It’s really not all it’s cracked up to be; I feel no different from when I was single. I don’t understand why people are _so desperate_ for a relationship to the point of making entire FAN ACCOUNTS dedicated to some sort of vague quasi-fictional self-insert romance.
I’m not the type of person to use the word “cringe”, but people who are _that_ down bad for the very concept of a relationship are cringe. Romantic equivalent of being Horny On Main.
People are just different.
I got in my first relationship at 21, after having dreamed about it for so long.
I never got in any relationships because no one felt like the right person for it.
But when I met my current partner, a lot in my life changed, and it made a huge difference for me. He brought so much new to my life, and finally feeling like I am with the person I want to be with for the rest of my life makes me feel more complete.
All that most likely ties into what my ideal future is, which is simply to have a loving family of my own, and being with the person I love more than anything is a big step in that direction.
But yeah, people experience different things differently 🤷🏼♀️
