They said they found 6 chemical combinations that were successful at age reversal in their study. Here I share the specific supplements, medications or molecules used. And I save the most interesting one for last - Ca AKG.

      Hi. You feel 37. That's subjective. It does not mean any of these magic supplements reverse age. You can feel good just by eating better and exercising. Please with this. Since you feel 37, can you move, run, etc., like a 37-year-old?
      Anyone can feel anything. It does not make it a fact. How's that GIGANTIC PLACEBO AFFECT TREATING YOU!!!!
      Let me get this right. These Sinclair supplements reverse your biological age back to 40, eh? A 33-year difference? Unbelievable at the stuff you hear on UA-cam!
      So, I guess you don't work out or eat right, etc. The magic pills did that, eh??? And damn, you also hold the world record for the biggest increase in biological age. You need to contact the media about this. This is revolutionary in the longevity space.

    I took NMN and resveratrol for several years after Sinclair's book came out, but have since replaced them with caAKG, TMG, and NAC, in addition to my usual dose of D3 and K2. I'm 76 and active, working out everyday and maintaining a household. I can only compare myself to others my age that I'm acquainted with and I seem to have fewer physical ailments than they do. I can't really attribute it to the supplements or exercise, but I plan to continue with my regimen for the time being.

      be aware that Sinclair is not right about dosing of Resveratrol. One should take only 100mg every day, and every month for 2 days 1000 mg. One can combine with 50..100mg fisetin or quercetin.
      Sth which almost everybody is missing out is Vit. C in combination with green tea , 1000 mg Vit C, and 800..1000ml of green tea daily. (before 3pm), plus Olive Oil.
      About NMN: I am not convinced from my own experience. something is missing in the equation by just taking that. some are pointing out that it can exert the opposite effect due to respective feedback mechanisms, and be even detrimental regarding sirtx activation. I am just starting giving a new try by combining NA, or NR, together with Taurin, Quercetin, Rutin, caAKG, and adjusting the Gym routine (more zone 2 and more VO2max training)

      I have been taking NAD+, NAM (probably redundant to NAD+), NAC, TMG and Pterostilbene. I am going to look to add caAKG now; researched it over a year ago and forgot about it. FYI, pterostilbene is better and a substitute for resveratrol; more bioavailable (20 times) and stays in the system up to 7 times longer so you need less daily.

    I don't think taking just an individual supplement such as forskolin or even Ca-AKG would be able to trigger all of the necessary genes that are needed to work together for the four Yamanaka factors genes that do the epigenetic age reversal/reprogramming. Ca-AKG seems to work much better for females than males, but still is only a 10 to 15% effect on lifespan, though it does do some amazing things for physical rejuvenation as shown in the video, again probably mostly in the female mice. When I took Ca-AKG it gave me loose bowels which is unsustainable because of adverse health effects with gut malabsorption of vital nutrients and it has a possible pro-inflammatory effect on the gut (another person reported this too) I did a read a paper suggesting that some polyphenols have epigenetic reprogramming effects on methylation groups but was not too compelling about age reversal. I do think there may be a combination of natural bioactives out there that have yet to be tested that can do epigenetic age reversal. The U of Mississippi School of Natural Products did a bioactives screening program and found three plant extracts that are commonly available that can activate the Nanog gene related to the Yamanka factors that affects epigenetic reprogramming. Nanog was separately shown as to "demonstrate reprogramming of DNA methylation and histone modifications on regulatory regions of the developmentally regulated OCT4 and NANOG genes by exposure ". The botanicals in the UMISS study were glossy privet seed, and Chinese chives and Russian tarragon of all things!

  • @birage9885
    @birage9885 Рік тому +8

    AKG by itself is very acidic to the gut, so if you take it straight without being complexed with calcium, arginine, ornithine, etc., you may get some stomach stress, especially since they recommend taking it away from food. I found a way around that though. I put one tsp of baking soda in a few ounces of water in a glass, then in a separate glass I put in the AKG powder {either dump the capsule, or use the straight powder}. Then I start to add the baking soda water to the AKG by the teaspoon, and when it stops fizzing, you know it is neutralized, plus when you taste it, it will not taste acidic. I do this with AKG powder, because Ca-AKG is too expensive, and I don't know why since the only other ingredient is calcium, which is cheap as dirt.

    Thanks. On AKG, you might be interested in a presentation by Adam Antebi on the NUS Medicine (Brian Kennedy) UA-cam channel. Starts at 7 minutes in. My take away is the low insulin appears to increase AKG (and NMN) at least in model organisms. Would be interesting to test humans with to see if the relationship holds and what the threshold for insulin might be. Low insulin is already known to be important. Seems to me that fine tuning diet and exercise (and sleep and stress) to modulate the various aging pathways is first line of defense. Also need better and cheaper testing to assess our own status as we experiment, especially with supplements. Even though I take a number of supplements I am skeptical about dumping bolus amounts in the body without consideration for circadian effects etc.

    "You're getting a little bit older than me." Yes, that did not come out right. Folks that are older than you were always older than you. I think what you meant to indicate is that some of the audience is falling apart and that they better do something about it fast (perhaps with untested supplements) . These older people essentially already have one foot in the grave, so it's okay to throw a little caution into the wind.

    I would wait for more research with the cocktail of chemicals you first discuss. I suspect most of the work on that cocktail thus far has been in cell culture, not in living animals and definitely not in humans. The AKG should be pretty safe since it is a part of the glutamine/glutamate cycle that is involved in cellular energy metabolism, with the caveat that if you have cancer it may make the tumor or cancer cells grow faster, since glucose and glutamine are the two primary energy sources for most types of cancer cells (Warburg Effect). Taking AKG will boost that energy pathway.

    • @vasil.6842
      @vasil.6842 Рік тому

      Glutamine - yes, but the sugar being the fuel for cancer is a myth. Cancers thrives on fatty acids. The warburg effect is that the cell is unable to oxidize sugar properly (which causes the cells to turn cancerous) and the cells start to ferment sugar (many times less efficient than oxidizing), which causes the buildup of glucose and CT scans see massive amounts of sugar in cancer cells.

      @brienq Рік тому

      @@ianwallis3773 It's a lower amount of calcium that goes along with AKG, 190 mg compared to the 1000 mg AKG part. I think it takes large excesses of supplemental calcium of 500 mg to 1000 mg to be a health risk for vascular calcification and having a vitamin K2 deficiency (as you mentioned) and also a pro-inflammatory/ high blood glucose milieu at the same time. The Ca AKG Rejuvant product might be patented by Brian Kennedy's research group/company and it has a steep cost like $90 a month. Regular AKG is not patented and I think its possible to take a low dose calcium supplement of 190 mg such as from calcium carbonate (a weak base) with 1000 mg of AKG which is acidic to form a buffer pair that corresponds with the same ratio as used in the Ca AKG supplement. From the chemistry point of view AKG is a weak acid and Ca CO3 is a weak base so the reaction that occurs likely results in some Ca+2 ions in solution and some bound to the AKG molecule of which Kennedy suggests the Ca part is important for its absorption in the gut. Most Ca antacid tablets are about 400 mg of elemental calcium (as 1000 mg of Ca CO3) so I had cut them in half and then took it with the AKG at the same time to get the 200 mg of Ca.

I think many people have had a basic level of trust in studies. These studies can make companies an insane amount of money, so everything should be questioned. It's becoming harder and harder to find studies that were not funded by companies that are going to profit from the favorable results. The other thing to note is what I mentioned in the video, as some products that we may be taking as supplements have very little, or very weak research on them. I think it's just best to be aware of that and then you can decide on taking it or not. I wish someone could do a documentary on this.

    My issue with all of these mice studies is that it's becoming increasingly evident that, while we have a lot of similarities to mice and they're convenient test subjects due to their short lifespans, there are also substantial differences between us. A ton of supplements have emerged over the past decade that, in some cases, supposedly increase mice lifespans by around 50%.
    I believe it was Fisetin or Quercetin that was recently suggested to have increased mice lifespans by around 40%, and there are several other ones that had dramatic effects on mice and were advertised by people like, Dr. Sinclair as age reversing. However, the vast majority of these supplements have had little to no effect on actual human test subjects.
    And that's fair. It was always naïve to assume that we suddenly have access to so many substances that can extend our lifespans, but I do have an issue with how they're being advertised right from their testing on mice. It's likely to provide misleading expectations, and I think it's a dishonest practice by the people who are viewed as key figures on the subject of longevity. I'm not saying that these supplements don't have any effects at all, people have reported increased energy levels, lowered blood pressure and whatnot, but in most cases, the life extending effects are debatable at best.

    I really like your videos and how you present the different supplements in a fact based way. I am wondering with many of the cautionary tales of supplementing with calcium (especially if one doesn't have a bone disorder), if taking CaAKG is a wise move. Just my thoughts and question. I have been taking AKG for some time now. Since my health is good I have not noticed anything significant on a upward swing. But regarding the calcium, we get plenty in our diet, unless again there is a bone density issue, and excess calcium can easily end up in tissue, ie, on our artery walls. Taking K-2 can definitely help with the D-3 we get by placing the calcium in the bones where we all want it. Personally I do not supplement calcium. Does this make sense? Thanks again for your videos!

    • @IloveCamels335
      @IloveCamels335 Рік тому +2

      There is not much Calcium in Ca AKG supplements, I think less than 20 % somewhere around that percentage. So if you take the recommended dose you are at 200 mg of Calcium which should not cause any issues.

    • @LifeDIY
      @LifeDIY  Рік тому +3

      Thank you! This is a great point about the calcium in CaAKG. Thanks for mentioning that. Is your supplement AKG without the calcium? I personally stay away from any calcium supplementation. I just looked around on Google for products selling CaAKG and I found one and it stated more details about the ingredients - in a 1500mg serving, they said their product contained a minimum of 315mg of calcium (in the form of calcium hydroxide). Most products don't have those details listed and some of these products or sites do not look legit. Now I'm wondering if CaAKG is so much more bioavailable - what kind of difference in absorption is there? It's hard to find solid research on this. I have so many questions now!

    • @tom7471
      @tom7471 Рік тому +2

      @@IloveCamels335 Thanks for the comment. I think 200 mg is not too high, but I just error on the side of caution regarding calcium. I figure if I am taking a supplement that is maybe 75% making me anti-age (everyone is so different when it comes to how much supplements 'supplement') and the same percentage (or even much lesser of a percentage) that maybe the calcium is ending up in my arteries, then I'll take the AKG without the calcium, though I may be getting a lesser value of the AKG.

      @@LifeDIY Thank you for the response. According to the reviews and answered questions from the company I buy my AKG from it is not CaAKG. Which, of course, like you say, has to beg the question, 'Are we getting enough AKG in our systems?' from the none calcium form. There is definitely a problem with companies not showing the derivation of their supplements. One has to search and research sometimes to find it. I would say that the better companies do let it be known on their labels, even if they are the higher costing ones. But one can even be fooled by that. Sometimes the less expensive products are every bit as good. Of course I look for the GMP, and if it is third party tested. And I take a lot of supplements, but ones I feel safe taking, that are studied a great deal with pretty much great track records. AKG is one of the most iffy things I take, actually. Of course to eat good and clean, and exercise, both with autophagy in mind, is perhaps for most of us the ultimate way to have a wondrous health span, and to be kind and mindful (the latter being so 'unscientific' ha ha).

    Hospitals, doctors offices and schools should be places where good nutrition is taught and provided not places that contribute to disease and obesity. It is crazy the hospitals are feeding people the very food that caused the heart disease, high blood pressure or cancer that they are treating. Every person in the hospital should receive some nutrition education before being released. Every doctor visit should be an opportunity to educate patients about how food choices impacts their health outcomes. The fact that doctors do not get nutrition training as part of their training makes no sense. Medicare and Medicaid should require nutrition education as part of patient care. Focus should be on food choices. Fasting should be investigated as a treatment for disease.

      Thank you. I am really sorry to hear about the chronic Lyme. I know that is a nightmare and a daily struggle. I hope you continue to get better and better every day. I know some people who have had great health improvements with keto or carnivore.

      @@LifeDIY yes my first step was to address nutrition as medicine and God led me to things consecutively, he has healed me and now I'm able to help and direct others and give them support. Thank YOu for your reply. Keto is basically what I developed into before they called it keto. all illnesses is dealing with inflammation and we aren't even dealing with the same food now as before. Intermittent fasting is also a very good thing to help us heal

    ❤❤❤ Love your content and videos. And... The presenter is devine. 😉 Gratzi!
    PS: How are you fairing since your initial health dilemma? Did you ever find out what the cause was? Did you consider a polymicrobial cause, or do you think that it was (maybe still is) primarily immune system disregulation from environmental toxins such as mold, heavy metals, and/or chemicals?
    Take care.

      Thanks, Michael! Such a nice comment. I think you're referring to an array of health problems I had years ago. I talked about it in some past videos. I had carbon monoxide poisoning over 10 years ago and since then - during the poisoning and right after, I developed a slew of problems. I had been poisoned for close to 7 months. I'll share more details in a video someday. I am glad it wasn't my time to leave this Earth because that could have happened! I am happy to be alive and I am doing pretty well now, thank you. :))

    The timing on all this with Sinclair is interesting. As for me, I don't trust this guy one bit. What happened to the MNM debacle I wonder? He was exposed on that issue so now he's into something else? I just think it's odd.
