So my idea for keeping your tent roof from collapsing is to use a picnic table that has a hole in the center with an adjustable pole that would attach to the center point of the tent ceiling. Try it. I believe you will like it.
You should have shown the awning. Also to make it easier to get the tent back into the bag, purchase about four 2” wide Velcro strips so u can tightly bundle the tent. Makes it easier to get the tent into the bag.
It is a awesome tent! We have one and love it! I have seen people use a center pole that is similar to those olds tent poles that can adjust in height. Have not needed to worry about that high of wind yet but may look into getting something for that! Great video!
@@LivinMNOutdoors oh yeah you popping to top first wouldn’t end well lol. That i just how mine works lol. That is a sweet screen tent. I didn’t know they had those.
Thanks so much! This version with the rain fly and the panels all built in is perfect! I wish Clam would make more like this, it makes so much more sense!
Thank you for answering a question about the picnic table. I have watched 7,867,246 videos (joking, but it's been a lot) and nobody has said ANYTHING about a picnic table. lol
There is a an adjustable painting poll used for painting with rollers you could get that and use that as a center Pole to hold up the ceiling but just do not use the roller😊 Lowe's has them
I have never had that issue. Typically when it gets real windy like that, one or two sides will pop in. Thus taking it's "kite" like ability away. But, I could see how it could become a kite if the sides didn't pop in. Overall this is one of the best purchases I've made. If this one ever breaks, I will definitely buy another.
Just ordered one …. They make a support for hub hunting blinds that would work … basically an adjustable pole top has a bracket that fits around the hub … can put it on the picnic table
If I was looking for something to prop up the ceiling I would get one of those spring loaded shower curtain rods and then a length of PVC pipe to where you would have a two piece pole. I would check to see if the shower curtain rod would fit in an 1.5 inch PVC pipe. Measure the distance you need and cut the PVC pipe a foot or two longer than you need so the shower curtain rod would fit down inside the pipe a foot or two. I would drill a hole through the PVC pipe a foot or two from the end and then get a bolt long enough to go all the way through the pipe. That way when you put the two pieces together you will have the length pole you need and you can adjust the length of the shower curtain rod by screwing the two pieces of the shower to either lengthen or shorten the pole to fine tune the length. A little spring tension that the shower curtain rod provides should help hold it in place. The length of the pole will depend on if you will have a picnic table in the tent or if the pole will go all the way to the ground.
I watched a youtuber Lorrie's Way and she did a video of her friend who has very awesome ideas, one is a 3" pvc pipe cut in 2 pcs (for storage) with a coupler, that he sets up in the inside, to stabilize the roof!
Sounds good to me. My husband bought me a canopy last year but I can't put it up or take it down by myself and we get lots of summer storms and unfortunately I could never get it down fast enough alone that some parts broke (he fixed em) but one thing the canopy doesn't have is mosquito net and so I enjoyed shade with all the flies last summer lol. I think this would work well to put up and take down by myself if the random summer thunderstorm blows through
I also recommend the Cabela's version that they list at $450. Yes, you can get the Clam brand for $300-ish but the zipper side panels makes the Cabela's version superior and much faster to put the panels down when an unexpected rain storm rolls through. My issue is it is long when packed up. If you have a truck, mini van, etc. it's OK but not easy to lug in a Camry with tent, stoves, food, backpacks, sleeping bags, etc..
Great tutorial. Thank you! How does it perform for shade? I saw another video for a different Clam shelter, but they mentioned that it wasn't good for shade.
Just got this tent. Easy set up. Wondering if you can help…got a black 2 section shock corded pole…can’t figure out what’s it’s for…to support the canopy over the door maybe? Any thoughts? Wish this would have come with instructions.

Great question. We have spent many storms hanging out in the screen tent. We've never had any issues with water leaking in. This tent has made camping way more enjoyable.
Do you think this screen tent would be good enough to withstand staying up for 3-4 months as long as we staked it down good and used a center pole to prevent the roof from collapsing? We're considering this for our snowbird RV park in Florida next winter.
I think it would be fine if you didn't have alot of strong winds. (30+ mph) We have had it up during thunderstorms and wind and it held up good. It is a great tent!

I have the cabela and love it. Yes, l agree with the problem but it can be mitigated. Obviously your tent collapsed due to wind and then it was a fish bowl that filled with water. Probably at night when you were sleeping in another tent. When leaving the tent, say at night, you always must have all side panels staked out and a center pole supporting the top ceiling hub. This prevents any tent collapse. Side note……I have been in the tent twice during heavy winds, ceiling came down and the hub hit me in the head. I think the hub should be designed so it locks in the up position and then a release has to be depressed to take it down. Meanwhile, I use a pole always overnight and if it gets windy.
