    Laruga Glaser has been practicing Ashtanga yoga continuously for over 27 years. Starting at the beginning of her 20s, she was immediately drawn to the practice after working with other forms of yoga years prior. After establishing a committed practice she then deepened her studies traveling to Mysore, India annually to practice at KPJAYI where the late Sri K. Pattabhi Jois taught and now his grandson, R. Sharath Jois teaches. Laruga has made more than 15 trips to Mysore and is on a mission to continue to learn and grow as a student as well as a teacher. She is one of the few in the world who have been given the distinction of being certified to teach up to Advanced B, which is not easily given and takes many years to earn. Through it all, Laruga teaches as an act of deep sharing and love for what yoga develops in each individual, facilitating space to open, challenge, and inspire those to realize their inherent potential, and has been personally invited all over the world to do so.

    Beautiful explanation but this takes a long time of consistent practice before it’s achievable. Blocks under the hands help a lot. I’ve been practicing Ashtanga for a year and I still can’t jump through, and I was a rock climber, horse rider and gymnast, so I had some strength. Just wanted to add the reality of how much dedication it takes

    • @sjboxoffice

      Bloks actually do not work- one teacher makes me work with it, another removes blocks- said is wrong- I still can not float true- with or without bloks. This step step- transfers me- just now- I picked jumping in lotus help- and it looks if I will float, but I won't- cuz Im scared- this is the best anybody ever breaks the transition control. Try without blocks- flow itself lifts you up.. They convinced me that progress without a block is more likely,., Now I even think if I do the same sequence with blocks, there is a Calisthenics vibe on the lower abdominal muscles - this is a shoulder/hand-controlled transition. 1 thing that improves 75% after removing blocks is to jump up. This Video is BRILLIANT Brake true sequence shoulder momentum.

    • @larugayoga
      @larugayoga  7 місяців тому +2

      I also have long legs and a short torso for my height. No matter the body proportion it is a challenging maneuver and takes time to be able to achieve. Work the steps provided they really work to build strength and coordination.

    how do you jump through if you have long legs but T-rex arms? There's not enough room for the legs to get through.

    • @larugayoga
      @larugayoga  8 місяців тому

      Start with the progressions and the technique. No matter the proportion of the body you should be able to make improvement over time. Even people with long arms find it challenging.

      🤣been there- jumping in lotus helps, even where there is space to go true; what are the brakes in this situation? I dont want to catapult myself true my own arms, that is where we are all going, if I do not sink- step step/ tap- that's way forward, thank you thank you

    Do you think it is possible that my arms are just too short for this? I have the strength but when I push down through my hands there is not enough space for me to get my legs under and back. Not sure if I am missing a trick or my bone structure says no.

    • @larugayoga
      @larugayoga  2 місяці тому

      Sometimes proportion is a factor but doesn't make it impossible as many elements have to work together. It doesn't come easy even for experienced practitioners. If you follow through with the steps it helps to guide you into building strength and finding flow in the transition.

    I have damaged my wrist, exactly extensor longo of tge thumb during jumps through. Any indication why how to avoid it, how to treat it?

    • @larugayoga
      @larugayoga  7 місяців тому +3

      Make sure to keep a flat palm grounded on the floor at all times when attempting the jump thru. This is extremely important for the security of the wrist. Also, always widen the fingers of the hands as well to maintain a proper base which also helps to protect the wrists.
