Cheers Rob - Thanks for the comment and checking out the video 👍 Yeah really could not have done this without my lads help and nice to have a good old fashioned father & son project 😃
@@TransitCustomCamper Hello over quite some time trying to decide whether car or van. And it all started with binge watching all of your videos that are very helpful / useful / enjoyable to watch. And thanks to YOU…..here I am a proud owner of a 2015 SWB TRANSET CUSTOM I just really hope that over the next few months I won’t be cursing you to much during my build. Anyway can you please tell me how much of the following materials I need to cover all the sides doors roof (no bulkhead) Sound deadening / insulation / 4 way carpet? As I’m itching to put my order in and not to sure how much I will need? Many Thanks🚐🚐🚐
Hey 👋 thanks for the comments and kind words! Glad you got a van.. we use ours as the daily driver too for school runs, my wife work and also the camper! We really happy with the versatility! There is the odd car park we can’t get in but that’s all 😀 Not sure if you seen this video? The full breakdown of all the materials and links in the description too with more details… ua-cam.com/video/yXjvPr94cZA/v-deo.html One thing I don’t cover is the 4 way stretch carpet. So I got 12m x 2m. This was more than enough. You might be able to get away with maybe 10m x 2m… but I think having a bit extra for any issues or the odd mistake would be good 👍 Good luck with it all! And welcome to the Custom Club 😃

hey! Thank you for sharing. How is this combination of insulation materials working out for you? I'm keen to establish a proven alternative to the commonly recomended PIR board with gap + vapour barrier because of the space it uses up
@@TransitCustomCamper brill thanks. This looks to be a less labour intensive approach which I like. My hope is that good venting will prevent the need for a dedicated vapour barrier
Hi mate. These videos are great lot of help thanks. I have same van and age as yours. It was my work van but now turning it into camper. I’m in two minds whether to fit the pop up roof or not. Think it’s an extra 1500 to do it. Do you think it would be worth it? Thanks 🙏🏽
Hi mate - thanks for the comment, your kind words and also checking out the videos. I guess it all comes down to how you intend to use the van the most and also budget. So our van is a daily driver, used for work and occasional couple of nights away. So the extra cost of a pop top didn’t make sense for us really. Also we got a cubo awning which I would 100% suggest as this give standing up space and means we don’t have to do everything in the van 👍 I am about 6ft so no way I could stand in the van.. but we got little cube box seats and they sound for using the stove etc 👍 Hope you get what you want from it mate and happy converting
Hi mate 👍 No I didn’t use any glue apart from the stuff I put on the back of the top ply panels.. I did do before my wiring but that was as my wire just ran in trunking behind the units.. the only please I need to do leave and do after was for where I pulled in the 240v hook up on the side of the van 👍
Brilliant job, I'm enjoying the series. I've just bought the same van 2014 2.2 hopefully you can answer a few questions.... Was 2 rolls of foil foam enough to complete the van?
Hey Jim - thanks for the kind comments and checking out the videos… the two rolls were just about enough… towards the end I did have to use some off cuts and bits so if you wanted to make absolutely sure then three might be better… Also would depend I guess are you planning a pop top? The two rolls did include the roof of the van too 👍 good luck with your build and yeah drop me any other q’s and I’ll help if I can
@@TransitCustomCamper thanks for your quick reply 👍 I'm going to order the sound deadening and insulation today, I've got other questions but I'll try to keep them to the relevant videos.
Thanks for the feedback.. 👍 Think this was only my third ever video and being honest never expected anyone to ever watch them 😃 I tried to improve as I went along 👍
Hi Daryl - thanks for the comments & checking our the video 👍 I picked them both up of Amazon links below 👇 I think there are alternatives too I was originally looking at DoDo products but they were all out of stock when I was doing my build. The below were OK the only thing was the liner adhesive wasn’t brilliant so I had to use some extra contact adhesive for the roof. hey! Thank you for sharing.
How is this combination of insulation materials working out for you?
I'm keen to establish a proven alternative to the commonly recomended PIR board with gap + vapour barrier because of the space it uses up
Yes it’s been good - no issues at all and keeps the van pretty warm/cool as needed 👍
@@TransitCustomCamper brill thanks. This looks to be a less labour intensive approach which I like. My hope is that good venting will prevent the need for a dedicated vapour barrier
Hi, did you not stuff the supports with insulation isn’t he roof above? I’ve seen others do it but not you. Just wondering why?
No - I didn’t actually! Maybe could have done..Although when I came to fit the roof liner I did add some extra insulation under that also 👍
Hey, nice video! Just wondering how many rolls of the white insulation you used? Thanks
Hi! Thanks for the comment and checking out the video.. I think I used just one in the end.. 👍

@@TransitCustomCamper Ok mate thanks for reply, think I can do without the pop up will look into the awnings. Thanks
Did you have to glue the recycled bottle insulation to your sound deadening mate ? Also did you put that in before running any cables ?

I'm not sure about the colour filter you've added to this - it's very distracting.
You also need to wipe your lens!
