Don’t forget to subscribe for more videos about CORNWALL and Falmouth I sometimes visit St Ives Cornwall and Padstow Cornwall too. Come here for everything from travel recommendations to beach reviews such as Perranporth Beach Cornwall. I also LOVE EXPLORING Cornwall’s coast line and the South West Coastal Path. Thank you for watching and commenting and liking the video.
Looking like a right professional job, who knew! 😆 You'll be well toasty when it's all done. Hope all's good with the wee nipper & mum.
I am so jealous of you for having the space to park up a van like this and work on it while still running your other van. I live in a flat with one single allocated parking space so it's always been the micro camper life for me.
Absolutely!
I have one allocated space yet two cars and a van.
Whenever I want to work on the van, I have to play the "car shuffle".
Yea it’s a good set up but it isn’t cheap renting these spaces
I had the black foam thermal liner , really sticky though, if you make a slight error it doesn’t come off even after a few seconds ,and the foam comes apart ..
Thanks for fitting in the video editing - it must be weird editing video of a very pregnant Kate whilst battling sleep deprivation - big change in your life between the recording and editing!
Great video - you explain everything clearly and present it so well - thanks for inviting us along your journey!
For anyone insulating a van on a budget, although the dodomat thermo liner looks good,, the thermo fleece might be worth replacing with Diall insulation roll - it's £20 a roll (6m X 370mm X 100mm) from B&Q rather than £35 for dodomat's 10m X 390mm X 50mm roll. The r value is close to double (which it should be as it's twice as thick!) and it too is made from recycled plastic bottles, so it looks very similar / almost identical.
For the thicker sections that need filling it would be a good alternative. It would fit in a 50mm section (just be more compressed) - I'm not sure how much effect squashing it into spaces would have on the r value - if it would still be as effective - if anyone knows, I'd like to find out.
I've also used PIR insulation panels (e.g. celotex) - this tends to cost more and have better thermal performance. It's less green (being new not made from recycled plastic) but likely works out a benefit over time as it insulates better. I think expanding foam is similar to PIR insulation, though a lot easier to get into gaps!
Hope this is useful info for anyone thinking of converting their own van.
It’s hard to find the time at the moment but I’ll get there
See you tomorrow mate. Looking forward to picking holes in all the hard work you’ve done.
Can't wait!
Feeling the warmth from the insulation. Going to be super cosy.
Looking good, I bet it’s getting warm, you might need to install a window or a roof vent in the summer
It's coming on great 😉👍🏴
Just watching I could feel the van getting warmer! You're going to be so cosy, with the ceiling fan in it'll be perfect. Really enjoying the process, thanks Shaun.
Thanks Annie
@@LoveSundays It might have been a warmer day than the day before 🤔🤔
More great progress its good when a plan comes together
It's looking good loved the Shaun love Sundays tag. So I,m guessing if the bed is going by the doors it's going to be a pully bed it will look lovely just all of you waking up to a beach ⛱️
@love sundays sorry I must have missed the one where you installed the plastic flexible conduit
Hi Shaun the van build is coming along nicely look forward to watching the next instalment! Hope your baby is settling in ok rgds Alan
Thanks 👍
Just worked out from the comments that the baby has arrived. A big congratulations to you and your partner. Enjoy the new adventure.
Great work, well executed and a smart move on the Waxoyl too. Well done!
I wasn't sure what the waxoyl is for?
Watching you is exactly the way I did my van but don't use expanding foam it can warp panels, great job keep it up
Thanks Shaun, it's looking good! You'll be really toasty warm. Hope all is going well with the baby.
Dodo are amazing I done my van with there stuff, cost a fortune but well worth it
Great job again mate going to be lovely and warm in there
Looks warm already. Good Job!!! ❄️💜❄️
Good job Shaun loving the van build!
When u put ur max fan in remember you will need clearance for your solar panels if you use unistut for your rack u will be able to have your solar on one half of the van and the other half u can use fo4 your boards call Stuart at Mule conversions and he will help with the parts, I wouldn't put ur max air in the middle hope it hel0s I can send u picture of how I have done and I have two vents two panels and space for a 10' long board good luck with your conversion dave
Cracking job, I wish you Had a longer van 😂 love Sundays even tho it’s nearly Wednesday 👍
Failing to plan, is planning to fail 👍👍👍 get it sorted ...
I'm following along quite closely as I'm getting mine done very soon - just trying to get a reasonable quote 😁😁
Your doing a cracking job, if a jobs worth doing ….. as they say.
It’s Van builds like this you just don’t want to end 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thank you
Well done…really enjoying watching the progression of your van build 😊
Thanks Heather 👍
Love Sunday's on a Saturday 👍😍
Loving these updates Shaun 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
You're gonna be well toasty in there Shaun, good job!
I've been thinking as I've watched your progress it must be hard thinking about the job your doing but at the same time remembering to change your camera angles etc. Well done 👏
Each job takes me twice as long bully the time I reset the camera but if the camera was static for the whole video it would be so boring 😂
1:45 it totally sounded like you called that company something other than dodomat. 😂
Ha ha, you're not wrong
My arms were aching just watching you do the ceiling 😂
Looking great, really coming along!!!
Comeing mate looking forward to see how it comes on 👌
Great video as usual! Best insulation (if cost isn’t an issue….) would be aerogel
Great job 👏🏼 Already looks warmer.
Loving the new van build journey, i can relate to how hard it is looking for a van here in Cornwall, ive been looking since November. Hey if need a hand in anyway happy to .
Vans coming along great Shaun . Enjoyed the video. Looking forward to your next one and good to see your taking your time mate to get it to how you want it 🤙🏻
The conversion is going well Shaun…thank you for sharing it with us. Hope you’re getting some decent sleep at night, despite being a new daddy 😀
Thanks Shaun @ 1:18 thats when I spilt my coffee all over my new T shirt 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 great Vlog as usual. Question are you putting any windows in ?
Not planing on putting any windows in the sides of the van just yet. I may put some windows into the back doors at a later date if I feel the need.
Looks great and you made it seem so easy. Fun following along w the progress. Thank you!
nicely done Shaun. I remember howmuch physically bloody hard work it was insulating Viv-I-van with the Dodomat stuff. I was knackered after three days of doing mine. Well worth it though for the sound and heat insulation. If ever I do get a bigger crafter sized van for my channel, I'll deffo be using the same products again. Lookking forward to the next vlog. bessy regs-Kenny
Remember don’t use high voc paints or varnish inside as some emit fumes for over 20 years.
Check the voc on the back of products as small space and high voc isn’t a good recipe.
The build looks great 👍
Has spray adhesive VOCs in it?
Great video shaun its coming together great fantastic job with insulation its looking rad. I did the same with my van completely wrapped it with the do do mat inside. I did not use the insulation though, its been lovely for three years though. Glad to see you are balancing life with the new baby lol stay safe see you on the next one 👍
Thanks 👍
That van will be proper toasty Shaun, its coming along so well mate. Looking forward to the next installment. Hope you are enjoying fatherhood.
Thanks 👍
If your'e too short to reach the ceiling of the van, buy enough pallets and maybe a half pallet to fill the floor of the van then overlay that with a 1/2 to 3/4 inch plywood board. You gain the 5 inches you need and can re-use for the next van. If it's a really hi roof van get two layers of pallets... Easy peasy
Really is coming along well and great to follow your progress. Keep up the good work Shaun 👍
Thanks 👍
Looking nice and toasty Shaun 🔥
Looks like a spaceship inside now lol , but it sure is coming together mate cause you are doing a great job on it 🙏😎
It’s starting to come along really well now, really enjoyed the videos up to now can’t wait for it to be finished so we can see the amazing scenery on you’re van trips
I have a MIRA SAFETY cbrn mask with M 77 filters.
Looks like if I choose this insulation system, I’ll be putting it to use.
Looking good Shaun 👍 👌
Nice job Shaun. I warned my neighbour that there may be some noise soon as I'm fitting my side windows and cutting great holes in an expensive van! 😮
What can are you converting Sid? I’d love to come and have a look
@@LoveSundays I've bought a Transit high top custom mate. It's that much bigger than my VW T25 but smaller than the Renault Master I had last season. Pop over any time, stuff is arriving left right and centre, windows, roof vents etc etc. Trouble is it's the insulation I'm waiting for!!! Anyway I've got Ikea bed beams coming for a fixed bed with garage below. Looks a neat idea, fingers crossed.
Really good work. I enjoy following your van building 😊
Thanks Torunn
The open cavity with no way in the back door. You could have drilled a hole(s) and expanding foamed inside?
Since your insulation does not absorb moisture does that mean that there will not be moisture there? If you put a vapor barrier in will it not trap the moisture in?
That's a really nice looking van. I have been binge-watching all these van videos and got to here. Everyone does things differently and it is rare to see if what one person does works or doesn't work over time. Except for one poor girl who'se van had lots of problems and mice even.
Hope you have better luck than here. Cheers.
Love your channel mate. Keep it coming 🤘😎
Looking good matey 👍
Would laminate floor underlay with vapour barrier work? 🧐
Are you not going to add any windows?
Not planing on putting any windows in the sides of the van just yet. I may put some windows into the back doors at a later date if I feel the need.
Great job xx
Thank you 🤗
Well done shaun, it’s looking good so far mate. Can’t wait to see it taking shape
Thanks Jon
@@LoveSundays it’s looking good buddy, keep up the good videos mate 😃
looking good mate
Good job S. Your van could well be better insulated than auto sleepers. 👍
Looking good👍
I've heard that polystyrene beads can be used as an insulation they are very small maybe you could drill a small hole and pour them into the cavities you can't get to
Thanks for the discount code! Used it on all our dodo orders ❤️
Loving your work Shaun! Are you fitting any windows?
I’ve had windows in the past and it’s just a place to lose heat and condensation to form. I would rather have the doors open for the view then have windows but saying that I could always add windows at a later date should I feel the need.
Really exciting Shaun! Looking forward to the end product. Looks like a new business venture converting vans to Vanlife.
Nice to no the names of the materials youre using and some advertising for them
Mate, that is coming along so well and really looks like you are enjoying yourself doing it
Great tips in this! Really appreciating them!
Great video, cheers 👍
Nice one Shaun.
Looks ace.
Will you be using 4 way stretch carpet too?
Loving your vids as we all do.
Good luck with the little one when he/she is out.
I’ll only be using carpet in a few areas
Thank you so much for the discount code. I've just saved myself a tidy little £50 🍻 👍
Good job
Furry fingers 😀 Brilliant.
If you don't cover all the exposed van metal interior, does that cause a problem with insulation/ moisture? Could you have cut away the surface of the door recesses? Or are they structural? Would make lining doors much easier and increase space/ storage potential in door recesses? Thinking out loud hear but may be thinking out my ***!
Quality!
Gonna be warm in there haha
I was thinking about expanding foam just before you said it, great minds think alike! Also, are you planning on putting a deck on the roof or solar panels? I can highly recommend solar panels as I have had some fitted recently to my MH with a split charger and boy what a difference it’s made. Just a thought before you get to the roof as you might regret it if you think about it afterwards. I’m loving following the step by step videos, soooo helpful. Big hugs to Kate and baby. Did you say if it’s a boy or girl? Take care
I’m definitely putting a roof rack on to hold the solar panels
And I’ll probably put a small deck up there too
Does the thermal barrier also act as sound deadening? I used their sound deadening in my last 2 builds then celotex and silver bubble, just getting my head around what is new for the next one this summer. Looks great so far. Good to see someone just getting on with it
No you will need to put sound deadening panels on your van before the liner. I did this in the previous video
Looking brilliant, what is model is your van, it looks a decent size to convert , I'd love a project like that to do 👌
It’s a Ford transit L3 H3 2.2ltr
Good job, well done! But do you want to go completely stealth or why will there be not one window? 🤔 ok you answered it in the next video 😂
Don't you worry about needing to get access to those tubes, behind the plastic bubble wrap?
I liked that you signed your van conversion ☺ But, you didn't year stamp it...?!
I’ll date it in the next video
Looking good so far but I’m surprised you haven’t fitted any windows anywhere.
Windows aren’t very stealth. But to be fair all the vans I’ve had in the past with windows I haven’t seen the benefit of having them. If I change my mind the window will go in the door which would be an easy fix
Cheers for the discount code 👌
Nice progress buddy. Where in cornwall roughly are you? Me and the Mrs converted our van a couple of years ago and enjoy meeting up with fellow self builders. We're helston area and usually go praa sands on weekends.
I’m near illogan
Holy thermal bridges batman!
Loved the video! I have a couple of questions as I am planning on converting a van as well, what is the waxoil spray for? And I see a lot of people put a layer of some sort of plastic foil before the actual thermo isolation, why did you decide to do that differently?
The waxoil help to protect the metal from rust. The plastic foil bubble wrap if that’s what you’re referring to is not needed when using the thermo liner. You can however use it as a vapour barrier through. The R value of the foils bubble wrap is quite low in comparison to the thermal liner from DodoMat
What's the purpose if insulation AND thermal fleecing? All for insulation? So you used fleece where the dodoma wouldn't work?
Would it be possible to cut into some of those upper cavities to enlarge them for storage? Or are they all structural? Seems like a space waste... (please excuse if these are stupid Qs - total newbie here!)
@love Sundays why have you not run any flexible plastic conduit through the insulated voids so you can run your electric cables through afterwards.
If you are not fitting any windows because you want to remain completely stealth how will this affect you with regards the DVLA campervan regulations ? Also are you not fitting any solar panels on the roof please do not think that I am being critical I am just raising points of interest
Not planing on putting any windows in the sides of the van just yet. I may put some windows into the back doors at a later date if I feel the need. I won’t be registering the van as a campervan with the dvla as I never do I just insure it as a camper and keep the speed down
He ran the plastic conduit in a previous video
@@clivemorris8252 Thanks for the nod but I have already apologised and said I missed the previous video. As a kid growing up my father impressed on me that if you make a mistake the sooner you hold your hand up and admit it the more likely people are to respect you for your honesty and I have stuck without through out my life. His other very strong principle was that you always told the truth no matter what because if you didn't it would invariably come back and bite you and if you told the truth to everybody then you never had to remember who you had lied to and who you had told the truth
Will it not void your insurance if its not registered as a camper but insured as one? Might be worth checking on, last thing you want is having a bump and insurance not paying out.
I’ve never changed a van to a camper on the log book. It’s pretty easy to find out as you can just google it. But here is what I fond on Google…..
You can insure your van as a campervan even if it has not been reclassified by the DVLA. Even if your V5C classifies your van as a 'van' or a 'van with windows', insurance companies can insure it as a “camper in conversion” or a “modified van”.
I just think at least you had a mask this time 😂😂
No windows in the back? Looking awesome
I may put windows in the rear back doors and maybe the side door at a later date but no plans yet
Congratulations on the birth of the baby!?
Almost to 40k!
So close!
Nice one mate proper job
While watching your video I asked ChatGPT to write the lyrics to a song about you and this is what it created:
----
(Verse 1)
Shaun's a UA-camr, a diver, and a man of the sea
On Sundays, he takes his van, to where he can be free
From mountains to the coastline, he's always on the go
Living life on the road, it's the only way he knows
(Chorus)
Vanlife is his passion, it's where he finds his peace
Shaun loves to insulate, his new van, a masterpiece
With vapor barriers and insulation, he's got it all
Keeping the cold out, and the warmth in, before the fall
(Verse 2)
He dives into the deep blue, capturing every sight
Sharing it on his channel, with all his might
From sharks to sea turtles, he shares it all
His love for the ocean, it's never small
(Chorus)
Vanlife is his passion, it's where he finds his peace
Shaun loves to insulate, his new van, a masterpiece
With vapor barriers and insulation, he's got it all
Keeping the cold out, and the warmth in, before the fall
(Bridge)
He's a traveler, a dreamer, with a heart full of love
A true adventurer, always looking above
With each new day, he's ready to explore
Shaun, the UA-camr, who we all adore
(Verse 3)
He shares his journey with the world, one video at a time
Living life to the fullest, with no regrets on his mind
From the snow-capped mountains, to the sandy shores
He captures every moment, and makes our hearts soar
(Chorus)
Vanlife is his passion, it's where he finds his peace
Shaun loves to insulate, his new van, a masterpiece
With vapor barriers and insulation, he's got it all
Keeping the cold out, and the warmth in, before the fall
(Outro)
So let's raise a glass, to Shaun, the man of the sea
For sharing his adventures, and living life so free
From vanlife to diving, he's a true inspiration
Shaun, the UA-camr, living life with no hesitation.
(Extra Verse)
With his camera in hand, and a story to tell
He shares his journey, with us all so well
From the highs to the lows, he keeps it real
Shaun, the UA-camr, showing us what's the deal.

What a time to be alive. Thanks for your content, I always enjoy it!
That was beautiful very interesting to read thank you 😊
Loving the build so far, quick question though, why have you chosen no windows in the back?
I’ve had windows in the past and it’s just a place to lose heat and condensation to form. I would rather have the doors open for the view then have windows but saying that I could always add windows at a later date should I feel the need.
@@LoveSundays Fair enough, mine just felt 'locked in a box' without them. I'm with thermal blackout blinds in my Trafic to minimise the heat loss and I don't get condensation in the back, windscreen though is another story.
Currently suffering with van height envy
When I had my T5 a few years ago I had windows but I kept the curtains pulled most of the time for privacy. I’m putting a double swivel seat in the front of the transit so that should let enough light in to the back. I live the stealth aspect of having no windows but I probably will put some on the back doors at some point so I can look out the window in the mornings whilst in bed
Do you need the sound prooking and the insulation? Will insulation not do part of the job? Also wondering why you don't use more sound insulation? Have lots of qs coz I'm new to all this and about to do my own van & I know nearly nothing🤦🏻♀️🤣
*Proofing🤣🤣🤣
I’ve never insulated any of builds to this standard 🙈I think it will benefit you so much👍🏼
