- Here i start the conversation of my transit custom work van into an off grid camper van.
I hope you enjoy this video, if so, please subscribe, comment and keep your eye out for part 2 (the double pull out bed)
Fully inspired by @MatArmstrongbmx … so much that i just bought a second van! Im really excited for the next build and ive not finished this one yet.
Thanks to @CombeValleyCampers for the 4way stretch carpet, this product is incredible, even for first timers like me! 10/10 for service and super fast delivery
Music by @ThePetersens and @LucaStricagnoli

Enjoy the vids and we are learning a lot but more than anything we appreciate the music selection
Really 😃 thats great news, a lot of thought went into the playlist 😎🙏🏻🙏🏻 thankyou
Yep love the tune selection 👌 makes for a pleasurable viewing! Nice one dude 🙌
Love it listening to nice cover of the cranberries. Great work also!
Glad you enjoy it!
"poppy bubble sh*t* 😂😂😂
Hahaa perfect description 😂
This is brilliant mate very helpful to a first timer
Ours will be a day van with the odd night sleeping so not interested in insulation. There are many quite large recesses in there that can be made good use of for storage space me thinks.
Fair play mate. Cracking job. Have a covert transit custom camper. Did not however do the work myself.
Sick music selections!!!!!!
Hahaa yuss!! A man with taste!! 🤌🏻
Ayyyyy nice dude! Vans going to be mega!🤘
Hahaa thanks man, you are like no1 to ever join me on my van life tours 🤩 do you’ve seen it from day 1
Looks great brotha🙌
Thanks mate 🙏🏻
looks banging, be nice to see how it progresses
Thanks man, i have a bit more progress now, just need to edit the footage 😎🙏🏻🙏🏻
I've just got my first van and your video is helpful...can you make recommendations for the mayerias you used?
Nice job. Looking up to do my own transit Custom.
Thanks man. Any help needed give me a holla 😎
That looks superb, im looking at converting my Mk7 Transit... so great tips. One thing im wanting to do is use as much of those holes in the body work for storage. There is a cool company called Kiravans that makes panels you replace the wooden ones with, and they have pockets built into them. They are on the expensive side, so going to try and make some custom ones myself that will fit in for what I need. Such a waste of much needed valuable space otherwise.
That is a great idea, ill have a look now 😊
Nice Jammys and video.
Thanks 😆 it was a lazy day 😄
I watched this and thought, ok yeah, I can do that ……….. and I almost have, it took you one day it’s taken me six weeks so far, 😂 I think the carpet you use is key though, cutting the carpet I bought proved to be a right mare!
Hahaaa brilliant. I have the benefit of refurbishing houses on a time frame so this was not to bad. Dont over thing it, judge lean on the side of caution when making the cuts and yes the 4 way stretch carpet is so easy to use and cheap too! £135 total and i think 15 linear mtrs x 2mtrs
Very very nice job mate im thinking of doing my custom with the 4 way stretch carpet in the back and putting a laminate floor in its not for camper use its my daily drive i do a lot of angling so its a must cheers fella
Thats awesome mate get to it!! Its not easy but at the same time its not too difficult. Mine is also a daily driver but i travel the UK flying race drones so its also a must 😎✌🏻
@@Mambafpv yea im going to do it it makes a helluva difference to the van cheers fella
Nice job mardude.
Thankyou 😎🙏🏻
Hi mate cracking job so far! Curious as to what carpet you’re using?
Thanks man, I appreciate that.
Im using 4way stretch from Combe valley campers mate.
Looks wicked buddy, what's the insulation you used to fill in the cavities? Thanks buddy
BnQ recycled plastic insulation. And thanks 🙏🏻 again
Great work! Can just about hear you unfortunately👍🏻
Lovely job. How many meters of carpet did you use? It looks like you use a lot more carpet carpeting the frame and panels separately. Way better job though having access to remove the panels again👏
15 linear meters mate. Combe valley campers stock it at a great price too
Hey man,
Where did you get the Sidepanels?
I was lucky enough to uncover them in the first few minutes of the video pal
Alright, Neal great video. Quick question, what year/mk van have you got? I just started converting my mk8, removed the ply kit and those fresh ply panels were missing. I've found some online but they look very different to yours.
Hey bro and thanks, it is a 2016, not sure about the “mk” sorry
@@Mambafpv Same year as mine then, I managed to pick one up with only 24k on the clock :) Anyway, so all the kits I can find, have the back panel as one big unit which looks a bit rubbish. Maybe its because mine is LWB, is your SWB?
@@will1565 mine is a long wheel base, i guess i was lucky to have them hiding behind the work panels. Have you have the engine recall done yet? 2016 all have recall warranty.
@@Mambafpv Um no, I had no idea about this. It was owned by a council contractor so I'd like to think they took care of that. Any idea how I would find out?
Hi. What screws did you use to fix the stretch carpeted plywood to the wall. Was they self tappers with washers.
OG panel clips that where holding the old ones on mate
Hi mate what tool did you use to get those little plastic poppers out so easily??
I believe i used a flat head screwdriver mate
quick question the spray adhesive for the insulation does it have to be temperature sensitive TIA
I suggest temp sensitive yes mate, i didnt and 1 year later the insulation sags a little
How do you get power into the back of the van ? I’m not making a camper hut want some power so if I decide to sleep in there every now and again. I can get lights etc charger
So you need an inverter for 240 power, about 3000w is plenty, and a split / smart charger wire to the ignition to charge leisure batter. Wire battery to inverter and bobs ur uncle. Charge when driving or idling 👍🏻
Hi. What glue did you use for the carpet mate?
Carpet tack spray adhesive mate
Where did you buy the bubbel metalic thing?
B&q 👍🏻
How much carpet will I need to order to do this.. oh and BTW is this a long wheel base?
Yes mate long wheel base, i think it was 20 linear mtrs (20x2) if I remember correctly
@@Mambafpv Thanks legend
How much material did you use for carpet
15 linear meters
I’m in the process of converting my ex welfare van into a ‘tin tent’. It’s not insulated but I have a wife to cuddle up to.😁. We’re leaving the toilet in but I’ve opened it up to give access to the back of the van and to be able to fit a motorbike in. I’ll be using the four way stretch carpet and vinyl floor covering on the floor. It’s all very exciting.
I really like your panelling idea, though. Did the panels come with the van or did you make them?
Nice dude, the welfare vans are great, looking forward to see how you get on with yours and i might get one for the next build 😎✌🏻
Oh apologies, i found the panels behind the main panelling. They are the originals ✌🏻
Ok, thanks. I’ll probably just four way stretch carpet mine. We don’t intend to do any winter camping but I must say your method looks a lot better, fantastic in fact , than what I have.
What about air flow
Cab windows provide flow

Music destroyed your video 😱😱😱😱
I really enjoyed the music to be honest but thanks for the feed back 👍🏻
Will someone put this poor singer out of her misery.
How dare you sir 😆😆 shes a beautiful singer “the petersons” 😎👌🏻
