RHDV2: It doesn't specifically fit any of the danger categories mentioned in this video, but those living in areas with outbreaks of this rabbit virus would wisely refrain from letting their bunnies play outdoors unless vaccinated. 🧡
I had a mini lop baby 8 weeks old but died 3 days after brought her home. We let her play outside and she ate the grass. We didn’t know she needed to be vaccinated against RHDV. We were so sad especially my daughter.
I'm so glad there was a mention of other pets being a problem. Dogs are dangerous around bunnies. Some people have been careless about their pet dogs and the bunny pays the price.
I miss you, your buns, and your videos! But I really hope, wish, and pray that you and your family are all keeping warm, safe, and having fun with your buns. Thank you for all of the lovely content over all the years. 💖
One thing people might want to also think about is neighborhood cats for predators who would be able to jump small & large fences. Some people (jerks who don't think about others) in my neighborhood let their cats outside to roam during the day getting into mischief even though it's against the law here and it puts your cat at greater risk of an early death from cars, predators, fights with other cats etc. We have a lot of wild bunnies in my neighborhood but as they're used to dealing with such predators they're A LOT faster than domesticated rabbits and aren't in a contained area so easier for them to avoid the cats where I live. Probably best is if you're going to let your bunny play outside just hang out with them! keep an eye out & enjoy the sun shine & fresh air with them!
When we got our bunnies we didn't know much about care, but as I learned more and more their living space became bigger and bigger until it was Christmas time and we had nowhere to put our tree, so I adapted the cat encloser for our bunny and he lives there now. When you mentioned about fleas our bunny got fleas from our cat they are now seperate but regularly put revolution on him (it doesn't need a script here in Australia). Everyday I go sit with him and let him out in a pen for him to run around and spend time with him. I will definately be looking at the length of the grass we let him play in. We often bring him inside for socialisation when it's raining as it's winter here at the moment (it doesn't snow where we are), but I will be looking at the conversion of temperatures so I know if it get too hot here in summer. Thank you very much for all this information Dianne, it's very much apprieciated.
Watching your bunny videos always put a smile on my face! My bunnies hate going outside so it's never for very long, in my arms while I'm brushing them! haha My bunnies are rescue bunnies from the great outdoors, so they prefer to be inside since I've had them. One is 10 1/2 and one is 11 years old now.
Your bunnies look so happy! I have taken buns out in the past (with supervision) but right now, my Holland Lop rarely goes out. He is such a mellow guy indoors, but when he goes out he gets very fast, very quickly and is hard to catch! We also see hawks a lot, and some neighbors don't leash their dogs. I also used to find ticks on our Angora, even when he hadn't been out, so too many risks here! I long for a good space for him to play and do bunny things.
I too live in Ohio and I live on a major road. Not only is the noise stressful to a bunny, but large birds and the worst… pesticides… are sprayed all over this area. We have a landlord who is obsessed with pesticides on the lawn, so there’s never an opportunity to let my bunny out…
Hi Diane! So glad too see you again! It's been too long ! I've had bunny video withdrawal since all the babies are gone, LOL! Still love to see Sunny Jim, Storm and Yoshi though! That binky that Yoshi did was so epic, I had to replay it! Thank you!
Ahhhh Sunny nudged the microphone soooo cute! Sometimes I bring snow inside in a large plastic tote and let my bunnies play and dig in the snow and that is a little safer than letting them go outside.
Something you (may) have forgotten: Thieves. Some people might try to sneak into your backyard and attempt to steal your rabbit (And this goes for other pets, too). Even if you just turn your back for just a moment to get something, that can provide enough time for a thief slip in, take a bunny, and get out while unnoticed. They may also try to lure the rabbit out with treats. I would recommend installing surveillance cameras.
May I suggest the next video be a bunny barn tour/bunny update? I have been wanting to see all the current rabbits you have now. If not no problems! Love the video!! 👏
I always enjoy watching your videos and I don't even have a bunny. I used to have bunnies when I was a teenager and I just love them. I live in Tucson, Arizona and the heat would just kill them. I have indoor cats. I love cutie Sunny Jim and how he chinned the microphone 🎤💜💙
I live in San tan valley Arizona and I recently bought a Holland lop, I don’t ever plan on taking him outside lol, I don’t want to deal with fleas n stuff
Hello gorgeous great video. You are so right house bunnies don't have the tools to protect them selves. I have sparrow hawks flying around here at London
Great advise thank you!!~* My bunnies do Not go outside!! Main reasons are predators and parasites !! Though I do harvest grass for them!! Also have been planning on letting the while with me be in a fence on the back porch which will provide more protection!! 💕🐇🐇🐇🐇💕❤ !!~*
Really enjoyed this informative video👌🏾 I was wondering if you could do a updated bunny habitat video on your bunnies cages/fav cage accessories that sort of thing as I’m planning on getting a pair of bunnies this august and it would be a big help!
My rabbit's twin is a hopping master he has escaped so many pens and buckets when we were cleaning the cages, and my bunny Shadow can open latches and doors so we had to get a whole new cage and locks soooo yes bunny's are escape artists
I'd love to let our rabbits play outside, but we live on a tiny lake and we see hawks and even eagles flying around. Seems like the risk might be too great. Trying to convince my partner to try it (with precautions like you've taken) but he's very hesitant.
Make sure they are always covered from all sides. I have a special pet stroller and covered rabbit run. Birds of prey will definitely still try to grab your bunny in the set up like the lady in this video has, despite the deterrents she mentioned like the porch overhang or dogs, if they are bold or desperate enough. Birds of prey are incredibly fast and intelligent. Never take chances with them. They are able to swoop in, grab your bunny and take off in one motion that literally happens w/in seconds. It's no wonder bunnies natural aversion to being picked up is so strong.
I just lost both of my rabbits. If I knew the dangers of my rabbits coming in contact with wild rabbits, I would have handled their outside differently. They contracted e cuniculi from coming in contact with wild rabbits. My buck got out of his pen and was gone for about a day, came back. Didn't know anything was wrong til a few days later and then it was too late 😭 this was last week! In a matter of days they both died.
Great video as always. Just wondering if you do anything special when you dry the dandelion leaves? I’ve never thought to do that. Unfortunately, I live in an area where there are multiple strains of calicivirus and Myxomatosis.. so my bunnies are inside 24/7. The vaccinations in Australia only protect against one strain of Calicivirus, so they are vulnerable to all the rest.
I feel so sorry for bunnies that suffer under bad pet owners. ☹️☹️ I seriously couldn't consider having a pet without learning everything I could, beforehand.
can you talk about how to free roaming bunnys and what ivys to plz you are really good on this and what kind of baby toys can you let your bunny play with
I live in a apartment they are just side by side not upstairs and one bedroom. I rarely take mine out in the summer especially bc I can even handle the heat but when we do it’s super early in the morning like 7 sometimes 5 even and if I am somewhat leery my husband goes with me we put him in his leash and harness and we watch our surroundings very closely bc there are a lot of dog but they do have do be leashed but before my dog got sick and we put her down he was raised with her and they loved each other but she was a little Chipin (minpin chihuahua) he kind of acts like a dog bc of her tho but anyways she was a small dog so he’s not terrified of those but just a large bark bc my dog rarely barked and it was only at the mailman. So far we haven’t had trouble but if you have any advise I’m willing to hear it you can personally send me a message if you want but I do have two buns one is Theo he is a Holland lop and the other is Eden me and my husband thing she is a dwarf lion head she is very skidding but loves her brother they are both fixed and inseparable.
Great video I have a pregnant rabbit and shes due next week but she kinda tilting her head sideways and when I looked it up it said she could have an ear infection I also moved her inside two days ago too and that was stressful for her but she not as scared anymore but should I wait until she has her babies to take her to the vet or take her when I get an appointment
Hi I was wondering if rabbits make nest if there not pregnant as I breed mine 1 of July and she started nesting on day 26 and pulling fur on day 27 she is due on Sunday so I was just wondering if you think she actually pregnant
you just scared me about furr mites. I have never heared of them before. Now I am gonna be looking in the hay before I give it to Bonnie, btw that is my bunny's name
Hi my rabbit had her well second litter first one there was only one but born dead she had four but one dead and there now 9 days old but she pulling fur again even though she pulled lots already and had them over a week ago is that normal
I have a grey “Holland lop” she’s almost 2 years old and her ears are still always down I also have her sister and she has ears up does anyone know why:(
Hey please reply!!!!! My rabbit gave one baby and then she came to near my bed and now she is sleeping . I guess she has more baby in her tummy . Is it normal to not giving all baby at once? And should I touch the new born baby to warm her ?
Your thumbnail confused me for a second there. I was all, clearly the bunny isn't dangerous, so is this about dangers to the bunny? Breed-specifix health issues?
Our shepherds serve the purpose of helping to protect our fowl from predators and have caught many many raccoons that would have attacked our birds. Shepherds also are protective of their humans. The downside is having to be careful letting them around prey animals.
RHDV2: It doesn't specifically fit any of the danger categories mentioned in this video, but those living in areas with outbreaks of this rabbit virus would wisely refrain from letting their bunnies play outdoors unless vaccinated. 🧡
Luckily when I got mine, I was able to get the vaccine when I had her fixed. shes 15 months.
I had a mini lop baby 8 weeks old but died 3 days after brought her home. We let her play outside and she ate the grass. We didn’t know she needed to be vaccinated against RHDV. We were so sad especially my daughter.
My rabbits I had 2 I only have 1 now cause my bunny couldn't handle the cold it was 10 degrees that day
Could you make a video on names for bunnies like name ideas?
I'm so glad there was a mention of other pets being a problem. Dogs are dangerous around bunnies. Some people have been careless about their pet dogs and the bunny pays the price.

My bunnies prefer to be inside too! They're rescues as well -- makes me wonder what their backstories are

I will never allow my bunny go outside (if I get another one). I lost my Holland lop two months due to heat. I miss him dearly.
I'm so sorry. Rabbits' sensitivity to heat is unfortunate and surprising to many pet owners.

True. We have locks, security cameras, two German shepherds, etc. It's sad that this happens, but you are correct. :(
So true selfish people taking a happy rabbit away from their home.

Amazing and interesting video my friend and I totally agree with you because I’ve lost an outdoor bunny before to predators 🥺

How do you dry your dandelions or plantain leaves? That would be a good how to video!
I just wash them and then put them in a mesh bag to hang dry. I shake the bag every day so they don't clump together. :)
good advice. I have outdoor rabbits and you need to be careful

Sunny Jim chins mic and says "It's all mine now."
Super helpful! What app do you use to edit your videos?
Filmora on PC

Could be an ear infection, e. cuniculi parasite, or something else. I would suggest talking with your vet.
I’m in Arizona and 85 degree weather is perfect 😂

How do you like having guinea fowl in your yard? If I ever had land where I'd be able to have chickens, I think I'd want guinea too.

Hey are Holland lops and mini lops the same with different names cause I can’t find out anywhere. Please reply :)
Hollands are smaller than mini lops, except for Europe where I believe our Holland lops are called mini lops. It's confusing. :)

Excellent video,, but you forgot to mention fly strike. :(
Is it ok for them to eat grass??

Where i live i didnt know we had snakes until i Almost got bitten by a european viper

Yes I do let my rabbit play outside, on a leash
