Hey! Love your hutches! A little winter tip - when you know it'll freeze before they drink it all, put less in. Then you can just fill on top for a few times before you have to stomp and start over. Saves a lot of time on the really cold days!!
LOL I was just thinking I'm jealous of your calm rabbits, mine would definitely escape if I left the cages open like that. I would have never managed to catch mine though, so still jealous of your beautiful calm rabbits!
Yay! I like this style of video. You seem very happy with Jamison there with you. Reminds me of some of the OG Teal Stone videos. 😊. Do more like this!
Thanks for showing us your winter setup. I don't get cold like that in my country so its really interesting to see. This was the most skittish I've seen your rabbits, you caught the escapee so effortlessly. I watch a lot of cooking content and can I say that your pressure cooker broth method makes the best no-hassle broth. It has really lifted my sauce game over the weak stocks I was using before. Thanks for making these videos on so many different topics.
Oh my goodness this helps so much!! I am getting a buck and doe (silver fox) in march and am going to breed them for meat and i have been thinking about when it gets cold, like how I'm going to winter proof their cages...thank you so much!! (By the way, you have taught me so many things about meat rabbits and You are one of my top favorite UA-cam channels!!)
I have been thoroughly impressed with my rabbits. They are surviving -7 at night. I have been giving some of them cardboard boxes that I can replace easily when destroyed. They have wire bottoms and the cardboard is all they have to stand on, and the two does I am MOST impressed with, I have boarded off the sides of their cage with (not the thickest) trash bags. The main hutch does have a large tarp that I pull down and that covers the whole hutch. They all have been doing great, except my one doe has a split in her hock that I need to be monitoring. :( After this winter experience, I am not too concerned about them being too cold as long as I can keep the wind and snow off them as much as possible - and the boxes for them I think is mostly for peace of mind and their entertainment. XD
Hi Tiffany, although I'm never going to experience your temperature extremes in Ireland, or deal with hutches - as I'm planning on pasture raising our rabbits - you have taught me so much, including dispatch and processing. I knew if I couldn't watch it, then how could I raise them to have my husband do it? I'll never want to do that bit myself, but I appreciate all the lessons you teach. Thank you.
Mine are in a garage with cages filld with hay and the only one that was in the nest i made i found frozen but the others are fine. Just have to check their water twice a day
I literally just dealt with a snap, went from 78 to 9 in a day. No animal can acclimate to that that quickly. I had to bring half my colony inside in cages just to keep them safe.
@@TealStoneHomestead They were thank you! I lost 14 kits last year to the same thing. I definitely learned and we had zero casualties on the homestead this time.
It's literally -22⁰ feels like-28⁰ in Canada 🇨🇦 today the 19th of January I literally turn on a heater in my rabbit bran this cold 🥶 just snap quick... I like the color of your bunnies so pretty
I SO relate to the ice cubes from the bowl! I use the steel bowls from Walmart and take hot water in a gallon jug out and fill the bottoms to have the cubes fall out. Walmart also has electric dog dishes for 20 bucks here locally.. perhaps use one for two pens by having it straddle both pens? (Farm Innovators 1.5Gallon)
I have a 40 gallon stock tank with a deicer in the barn - I have been throwing all the frozen bowls from my barn rabbits in that, and within 4 hours the ice usually pops out! But I also have enough bowls to switch out while they are thawing. Since I have 20 breeder cages and 4 growout hutches I’m not sure it’s possible to water the rabbits with heated bowls. That would take a lot of power 😅
@@TealStoneHomestead Just a suggestion- perhaps you could post the link and dimensions of the tarp in a video or have it be included in the plans. I'm sure I could go measure it out but it would be convenient for others since you have already figured it out. Thanks for the info
How long do you keep babies in grow out hutch? Do you have a video on how to sex the rabbits? My grow out hutches are almost done. So excited to use them
Did you wrap 1x1 inch wire around the entire hay mangers to keep hay from falling out or just part of it? I bought about 15 of those same hay mangers and have noticed a lot of hay falling through
@@TealStoneHomestead Oh okay did you wrap them around the entire thing or leave an opening in the front? I like how wide the wire is on the manger so it's easier for them to get to. I figured wrapping the entire thing in 1x1 would make it harder for them to get the hay
@@TealStoneHomestead Most urgent are the Outdoor rabbits ! Indoor Cages still have some time to drink water until it slowly freezes. So only 4 bowls ? Plus a power extension cord

Hello Tiffany! I love every video that you post,God bless you and your family🤗🐇❤
lol up here in Canada my ice piles from water dishes at each cage are a foot an a half tall so far. I build them like pyramids haha
Oh my goodness 😂
Creative, well done. Those are some healthy animals.
Great stuff! 👍🏻 😊
Keep up the good work...

Where are the custom tarps from?
I got the tarps from a site called Covers and All 🙂

Hello! Where do you get your custom tarps?
We use stranger bedding in the den area and the rabbits pee and poop all over it. How do we keep the bedding dry and clean? Is it even possible?
Do they ever chew on the rubber and swallow it?
Would you do anything different for newborn baby bunnies?
All of my frost free hydrants freeze at the handle so we had to move them inside.😊
How much food do you give them?
Do you find that they pee on the straw ? Mine seem to pee all over it
Bunny can survive below -18?

Do you give any montly medications to your rabbit to work as vaccine ?and also is rabbit devorming essential???
I do not typically give my rabbits meds unless there is an issue.
Do you sale your creme D' Argente rabbits. If so how much
Use heated bowls 10 x times Easier !
Just plug in to your 120v uses 5 W of liter won’t freeze .
lol. I’d need 24 heated bowls 😂

I really love you dear sweetheart satfni
are you willing to share plans for your hutches?
Link to plans are in the description! 🙂
straw no straw.
My rabbits like to chew the plastic water bowls
We use the cement bowls from Mutt Nation with no chewing issues. If you are looking for another option

Grommet kit from harbor freight and scissors! The shower curtain sounds like a good idea.
Я лёд кроликам кладу. Кролики нормально его грызут.
Straw is better for heat. The hutches still look cold, too small and nothing to keep them occupied.
This looks cruel
Provide your buns with warm hutches filled with bedding do they can snuggle up.
