Underrated
The new thumbnail is better
I hate this track :)
... is my favorite track in the whole series.
*oH No wE hAVE dIFfEriNG oPiNiONs!!1!!1!1!!*
Takes 30s to complete
Fun fact about rainbow road, it is famously THE kart track in the competitive scene. In fact, for a long time the world record was done on a kart, until an insane ultra shortcut was found by a TASer and later incredibly performed by an actual human. But rainbow road is still the one track whose world record was held by a kart for a significant period of time.
Karts still hold that world record, as no-glitch and glitch are considered separate records for tracks on the leaderboards.
No glitch is a thing?
@@Blueturtle1 ofc
@@DarkXD__ sorry I should clarify that I know that no glitch is a thing, but I was telling op that the kart still holds the record because no glitch is a thing
Interesting. Did not know that. Cool!
As a person who grew up playing Mario Kart 7, the Wii tracks are extraordinary.
As someone who grew up on Mario Kart Wii, MK7 looks like it has some really unique and interesting tracks as well
They both have a great TRACK record if you catch my DRIFT. ;D
Wii and 7 have the best overall track selections in the series hands down
8 has some good tracks but honestly wii and 7 take the cake
@@Joosher56 8 has the best individual tracks imo (being either Mount Wario or Big Blue), but 7 and Wii have the best tracks overall.
Mushroom Gorge is a childhood favorite, and Maple Treeway stole my heart away, though I must admit this game has a phenomenal Bowser's Castle and Rainbow Road! Love this kind of game design! :D
The songs are classics that appear in a lot of Nintendo channels, and I hope a good RR comes back in "mk9"
Don't forget Coconut Mall!!!
Which is why I rlly hope all the tracks are in MK8 DLC
@@BossGaming-vg6zh Yeah, I feel MK8 didn't remake enough of these guys. And they're so good, like why would you not?!
Fun Fact: Coconut Mall has been the most requested track for Mario Kart Tour ever since the game came out 2 years ago. That's how iconic it is.
Edit: Wow it seems like Coconut Mall is most likely coming to Mario Kart Tour in the future, based on the new MK8DX DLC tracks.
i like mario kart tour but i feel like Coconut Mall would be terrible because of how Mario Kart Tour forces you to commit to certain routes, once you decide to take one shortcut, the game would lock you in
Oh, oh, oh! I recognize you! I’m probably most known by making the newer MKT iceberg.
It's mostly the memes, and some people didn't like Mario kart tour and it's sh!tty system to get characters
Yes, and ever since day one it has been requested by the same person to the point where we would rather not have Coconut Mall in the game
Is there still a community for that game??
The Ultra Shortcut for Grumble Volcano should be a big plus in your eyes if it's in the bottom 5. You get to finish it in 30 seconds.
What fun is that my guy
@@weewoo3023 finishing any course in 30 seconds is fun, although Grumble Volcano has a pretty bland one in comparison to scaling the mountain in Mushroom Gorge or driving through the void in Coconut Mall.
@@MrMisfortune think about multi-player, mario karts main premise. It's not gonna be fun for someone else when they have no chance
@@weewoo3023 well it's a good thing MKWii doesn't have straight online anymore, and the external way to have multiplayer patched the Ultra Shortcuts so you don't have to worry about them.
But no, that would take too much effort to think about right?
@@weewoo3023 Do you go into other multiplayer games saying it’s unfair or not fun because veteran players are being rewarded for practice and research and you have to learn and get better instead of the game handicapping people who put the time in. To me that’s not fun. Listen to yourself, you’re saying it’s not fun for people when others use a shortcut. First no one’s stopping them from using the shortcut if they actually take the time to learn how, second it’s a racing game where the objective is to beat everyone else as fast as possible. Nothing is gonna be handed on a silver platter to anyone.
Wii's tracks are unparalleled compared to the rest of the series. They're just packed full of cool ideas.
IKR! The level design consistency here is amazing! MKDS had a few amazing tracks, though I'd argue this game has a lot more. Speaking of tracks, the music is FIRE!
I personally think that the game shines with its original tracks. There are a ton of unique and creative ideas, with interesting gimmicks and shortcuts. I like almost every original track. I'd say the game is a bit weaker with the retro tracks, though. Some of the tracks they chose to remake are kind of mediocre, and they don't do enough to improve them to warrant them being in the game over other tracks, imo. That's why I think Mario kart 8 has the overall better track selection, as the retro track selection is better, and they are changed enough to make them feel fresh.
@@quagstar I can kind of understand that, though to Wii's credit, it included a vast array of different tracks from all the past games. MK8 focuses heavy on the 64 tracks. In contrast to DS, MKWii had enough power to properly display GC retro tracks. While not as revolutionary as MK8's revision of classics, Wii's selection of retro tracks was by far the best at the time. Heck, even the battle courses in this game were great, new and old!
@@calebdonaldson8770 I definitely agree that Mario Kart 8 was unbalanced with the track selection, with it at first including 4 N64 tracks and only 1 SNES and GBA track each (this was somewhat fixed with the dlc including 1 SNES track and 2 GBA tracks), while Mario Kart Wii is more balanced. However, I think that selecting good tracks is more important than including a balanced amount of tracks from each game, an I think that Mario Kart 8 had a better selection of retro tracks. Mario Kart Wii had some odd choices, like Shy Guy Beach and 3 Mario Circuit Tracks. Overall, I prefer the Mario Kart 8 selection, but Mario Kart Wii still has some great retro tracks. Mario Kart Wii definitely has the better battle courses though.
@@quagstar Yeah, I wonder if Nintendo goes heavy on the 64 tracks for nostalgia and crowd pleasing? If we're talking about quality, nearly everything from that game is outshined by DD, Wii, & 7 tracks. Ironically, Nintendo remakes far less tracks from that era, just like they won't give us virtual GC games despite them being so good and in-demand. Like, why?! Don't tell me that the technology is incapable of displaying a library of GC games. Yeah, it's significantly more data than 64, but come on, this was 20 whole years ago! That was 3 gens ago!
Is it just me, or does the star cup almost always have one of the best track selections in mario kart games (at least since DS)?
YES! I’m so glad that people think this!
Absolutely. All 4 tracks are incredibly pretty for a Wii game, and strike a good balance between having a lot of things you can do, and between making the course easy to understand
I definitely must say I agree. However I do really love DS and Wii’s Flower Cups as well
8's Star Cup in particular is absolutely incredible. All 4 tracks are bangers, with Electrodrome being the weakest and Mount Wario being by far the best one.
It's my favorite in 64.
"Please stop saying dumbass things, you're not even making sense!"
*"It's called the road, it's called the rainbow road."*
“It is a road that you go”
Glad to see you back silok but small critique, I thought the thumbnail choice was a bit bizarre since your avatar makes your videos easier to notice and click on as opposed to being a generic mariokart thumbnail that I would usually scroll right past
Yeah same I even skipped over this in my subscriptions tab
I agree as well. It looks very rough and just looks like a click bait video. It doesn't do a good video like this justice :)
I knew I should've photoshopped Chris Pratt onto the Mario head
I look in my subscriptions before my home page so it seemed fine to me. It's just a creative choice to reach a wider audience
@@silokhawk That’s how you get views!!
I will always credit Mario Kart Wii for igniting my love of the entire Mario series. The credits music is still one of my favorite game tracks ever.
We have a house rule where the last track we play always has to be Moo Meadows. I’m getting married to that song bro. Don’t diss the absolute best track in the game or else (great video dude!!)
I agree
#MooMooMeadows
Grumble Volcano is my personal favorite. Love the fiery aesthetic and falling flaming rocks. The facts that the track changes with each lap is really dynamic and cool imo. Also the song is a banger 🔥
Maple treeway is my favorite mario kart wii custom track, for the scenery and track layout. I’ve been playing Mario kart wii a lot recently and it’s great to see people still playing it over 10 yrs later, this game is what introduced me to Mario Kart and it’s definitely a childhood favorite of Nintendo’s catalog.
Can you rephrase
Maple treeway is not a custom track
Hope a video for mk7 comes out. The tracks in that game are pretty damn good
Especially the retro tracks imo it's the best selection.
I agree. Might be a hot take but I think Mario Kart 7's selection of tracks is easily the best the series has ever had, and that's part of the reason why it's my favorite Mario Kart.
@@demetriuskafkoulas5005 yeah 7 always goes under the radar. I hate how people never point out that 8 ruined gliding compared to 7.
@@therealmariofan How exactly?
I agree but I’ll never forgive mk7 for ruining maple treeway and coconut mall, those tracks looked ass in that game and would’ve worked so much better in mk8
Lmao, I remember playing Ghost Valley 2 when I was really little and trying to be strategic by knocking all of the blocks off so others would fall off. As you might expect, this never worked.
i usually grow more fond of the tracks based purely on the music honestly, and even then mario kart music is so god damn good it's hard to pick a favorite. it really doesn't get enough love.
Moo Moo Meadows is unironically a 5/5 track
Agreed.

I remember playing this game a lot with my sister years ago, and a number of those times, she’d make me pick Moo Moo Meadows for all four races.
The Grumble Volcano fire balls are 100% a skill issue, they are not random at all. Just dodge, or drive differently.
i grew up playing mario kart wii, all of these tracks are special to me in some way. i fucking loved rainbow road as a kid, i would play it ALL THE GODDAMN TIME. its probably what made me so good at mario kart in the first place tbh
good enough to play lounge?
This video was really well paced. I like how you didn’t take too long talking about each track whereas most people would have made this a boring 30 minute video.
The only part that didn't make sense at all was grumble volcano, like those fireballs literally fall in the same place
@@Gustavo-po9bd yeah I was kind of disappointed with the placement of that track. It feels really cinematic to drive through and I love tracks that constantly change each lap which is why it’s one of my favourites.
1:05 I was completely blown away about what Shy Guy beach looks like in tour, then I realized that this is actually Cheep Cheep Island, another GBA track. But still, Shy Guy beach could have been more interesting.
I love Mario Kart Wii's original tracks more than 8's:
Grumble Volcano
Mushroom Gorge
Coconut Mall
Koopa Cape
Rainbow Road
Moonview Highway
Maple Treeway
Just banger after banger
Bowser Castle 3 is my favourite. The music is AMAZING, and I love all the jumps and the colour scheme they used for it is awesome as well.
This game is my favorite hands-down, for its tracks, gimmicks, character selection, modes, EVERYTHING! I adore its Rainbow Road, I love how it references Mario Galaxy and I'm heavily disappointed Nintendo hasn't brought it back yet. It's iconic. I hope it makes a return in the booster pass
Rainbow road was my dad’s favourite. Its a test to your skill, and determinstion. Also, you could also see the island where we live from the globe below.
This is an injustice to grumble volcano... easily top 5. But, to be fair, this is the only time I have ever disagreed with Silok.
I am so happy that you have found a way to upload consistently and keep your life on track ❤️
Especially after the awful accident… I’m so happy Silok was ok after that and the fact his Wii Tanks video blew up when he returned… it could not have been timed more perfectly
That Grumble Volcano ranking hurts me since its one of my favorites! Like your racing around an erupting volcano and the track partially collapses as the race goes on, that was so cool to me as a kid
I love mushroom gorge, mainly because no one could beat me when I played it as a child!!
Mario Kart Wii will forever be my favourite game in the series, nothing will ever change that (I’m probably biased cause it’s the one I grew up with but yeah, it’s still fantastic… AND THE MUSIC TOO LIKE OMFG WHAT WAS NINTENDO WHEN MAKING ALL THESE BANGERS WOOO-)
I would love to see you do this for the other games as well! Great video!
thank you so much for this video i needed it so much
this is genuine
Grumble Volcano is severely underrated imho
You make such high quality ranking videos!
I just noticed the thumbnail change lmao
Mushroom George, Moonview Highway and Grumble Volcano needed to be higher
Ikr, they are awesome!
Excited for next weeks in depth video on Moo Moo meadows.
Idk why but I love Sherbet land. It's a track that I don't remember often but when I do, I only have fond memories of it. And something abiut the ice is just beautiful.
Oh btw I like DK parkway more on the N64. Could be the nostalgia talking but I like the more vibrant look it has.
I grew up with this game-straight up haven't loved a Mario Kart as much as I love it ever since. The maps are just...so good. It has by far my favorite Rainbow Road.
I love this game and I think that pretty much all of the special cup races are masterpieces. Although you did rank bowsers castle low, it’s definitely my favourite in the entire franchise.
Wii's Bowser's Castle is jam-packed from start to finish!
Matt search history be like
*why is moo moo meadows so good*
*moo moo meadows ranking*
*moo moo meadows is the best track*
Dude that’s my search history lol
if _____ isnt #1 im gonna go bonkers
As a person who's played 64 the reason for dk jungle park is mainly two reasons more so one of them, they got rid of the monkeys throwing coconuts when you go to the grass which slows you down even when in a star, the other is smaller but the way to the ramp in the cave is easier and faster than Wii which you often just hit the ceiling.
There are few feelings as exhilarating as blowing through Mario Kart Wii’s “Drift King” type maps in the Wild Wing: Mario Circuit 3, Daisy Circuit, Rainbow Road. The Wild Wing will PUNISH you for even the slightest failing, but when you give it your best, my word can she dance
I will not settle for this grumble volcano slander
Grumble Volcano 28th, you lost your permission to talk.
Good to see you back Silok and better than ever, I really enjoyed this and the previous video!
1:04 It's actually Cheep-Cheep Island, but yeah, it's a shame that Shy Guy Beach wasn't translated into 3D as well as that GBA track.
12:02 This made me think, wouldn't it be cool to be able to see where players fell off in Mario Kart just like deaths in Mario Maker 2?
Ey what's up
0:59 I mentioned there was a "better beach map in GBA," different map entirely from the one that's in Wii.
@@silokhawk Whoops, my bad!
Still, would love to see how good Shy Guy Beach specifically could be if remade once again in the style of GBA tracks in Mario Kart 8 and even Tour as you mentioned.
I LOVE the way moonview highway is structured. It’s so unique and serves to weed out the weaklings early, really befitting of the special cup
This is by far the ranking I most agree with. Every other track on other rankings I was thinking ‘that’s totally wrong’.
Coulda given Moonview Highway a little more love tho.
A lot of people don't like the cars on Moonview since they go so fast😅 I'm honestly impressed he rated it so highly
@@10thletter40 yeah I can see that but I love the chaos
I don't agree with a fair few of the ratings. Most of the time i was thinking, "Man, that's way too low" lol
@@10thletter40 to those people i have 2 words: Skill issue
The nostalgia in this video had me smiling so much
I just finished the dishes and now i can reminisce on a game i plated when i was 6. Merry christmas
We need a Toad’s Factory remake man. I’ve been waiting for years.
A little weird to have the thumbnail without your avatar, but I would believe the logic behind it is to appeal to more people via the algorithm aside from your pre existing subs. Looking forward to more frequent uploads from you!
People are usually more likely to click on a video if there's a persons face in the thumbnail, I'd assume this applies in a similar way to personas/characters, so I'm not sure it would help in that way 🤔
That silly Matt editing your script to praise Moo Moo Meadows, that keeps cracking me up lol 😆
moonview highway is definitely one of the most beautiful tracks in mario kart.
I literally was finishing Peach Gardens on DS when you got to that part of the video 😂
Silok is projecting "Matt's" opinion. We all know Moo Moo is the best.
The truth had to come out.
Mariokart 7 maps next? :O that game had amazing maps.
great video! NOW REVIEW ALL 200+ CTGP TRACKS.
Maple Treeway and that Peach Castle map with the hot air balloons and huge jump from MK8 (can’t remember the name) are some of my favorite tracks of all time.
In early days of playing this game (I mean like the really early back before i did not even have mirror mode unlocked) my ratings for maps were pretty accurate comparing to this one. nowadays, things have changed a lot
Another reminder to everyone that you can still play this game and many others online today with your official hardware and disc using Wiimmfi servers
GRUMBLE VOLCANO IS AMAZING
Silok: Not only is this the most difficult Rainbow Road…
SNES Rainbow Road: *Are you sure about that*
Moo moo meadows is so chaotic tho I love it
It fells like you are going to upload weekly well if this is the case then that is good but I did not expect it to happen! :)
Glad to see that so many people love the Wii tracks. Coconut Mall and Maple Treeway forever (Silok also ranked a bunch of my other favorite tracks highly but there are too many to list lmao)
Wow, awesome!
I agree with (almost all of) the commentary, so good job! 😊😊😊😊
Wtf justice for grumble volcano
Dunno how I missed this one!
Gotta say, I really enjoyed the brisk pace of this ranking, Silok! Some ranking videos feel like they need to dwell on every last detail of each course. This one just keeps pushing forward, I like that a lot.
Also its sad to see grumble volcano disliked so much. Though in Wii I understand why. However in 8 with my specific bike and wheel combo I use it’s really satisfying to twist and turn through that courses-well, twists and turns! Though in Wii you don’t nearly feel as consistently in control as you likely do in 8, so I get it. Also your top 3 is immaculate. Maple Treeway and Koopa Cape forever.
This was a very interesting video.
I was always under the impression that the opinion of a great track was very different depending on if you asked a casual player compared to a competitive one. But I'm honestly surprised to see how many tracks line up with these opinions! Bowsers castle, MT (maple treeway), with the exception to some of the shorter tracks (because yoshi falls and ghost valley are actually decent tracks in competitive play, howbeit very generic) It's always an interesting conversation to see what makes a something objectively good.
(also silo if you ever want to talk mario kart wii coaching or learning shortcuts and strats, hmu. We could make a banger!)

The one Mario kart guy I watch
I really like the strong turns in SNES Ghost Valley. Super satisfying to go through!
NOW THIS IS A LIST
Best mario kart baby
And as such, the legend of Matt begun
this gives me such good childhood memories
that first turn on the boost panel section on mh has ended so many races you would not believe
Thanks for reminding me of the god tier tune that is Mario Kart Wii's progressing Menu theme
Koopa Cape was my favourite map and always will be , I was so sad when I loaded up MK on the switch and noticed it was missing
I agree with most of the rankings and overall scores, mario kart wii is so nostalgic for me as it was the first mario kart game I ever played
You had me at "Every Mario Kart Wii Track Ranked"
I remember playing this game (and it’s retro courses in 7, 8 and 8DX).
The fire in Grumble Volcano is the same every time
Apart from grumble volcano being a 2/5 i agree with this list, great video!
Moo Moo Meadows (especially the Mario Kart 8 version) is literally the greatest Mario Kart track and I genuinely mean that with all my soul
Matt. Stop touching his script
As a player who played mkw since I knew how to hold a controller I’ve played this game. Played it for a long time. I see lots of these as ones I agree with. But being honest. Maple treeway, coconut mall, toads factory and koopa cape are my favourites. Especially doing Maple treeway glitch and coconut mall glitch ( which I have 4th Canadian) yes I’m Canadian. And koopa cape which is just fun in general. Toads factory is satisfying to drive and the box clip glitch makes it even better! The lake cut and low trick making the races close! All very fun tracks and nice list!
Need More Rankings Of The Other Games Tracks!
Their is a weird sense of nostalgia, fear, terror and panic and enjoyment I get when I see mkw rainbow road
Grumble is one of the tracks that are the reason mkwii is still alive
As someone who's played Mario Kart Wii for 11 years now, seeing this type of thing made my day. I even agree with most placements, although I don't entirely understand Daisy Circuit over both Mushroom Gorge and Dry Dry Ruins...still a good video regardless!
Also, fun fact: Rainbow Road is the only track in the game where a kart holds a Time Trial World Record in the Glitchless (No-SC) category.
I would love to see this type of vid for Mario Kart 8/MK8DX
Same moo moo meadows would be #1
Grumble volcano slander. a track based around a volcano is awesome. it’s one of my favorites
"What are you telling people to 'git gud' at, luck?"
I love the track design in Mario Kart, it legitimately feels like the new racetracks are out to kill you
dude rainbow road is the best track to me because of that bad-ass shortcut you can take for style points
Which one? None of the short cuts besides the ultra are even badass. Mushroom gorge and Bowser castle have more badass shortcuts
@@savagejack5714 you know that one rainbow road video with funky kong where it's pure luck if you get recommended it
it's called the kart moonjump
And now Coconut Mall, and likely more are coming to MK8D. Let's go
