    I went from the Pirelli run-flats to PSS. I was absolutely amazed in the difference. I will never go with anything else other than Michelin tires. Great to see the PS4S have improved so much.

    Hands down one of the best tires I have driven on for my 600hp sedan. Cannot believe the grip from a dig compared to cheaper alternatives on the market. The cornering, braking, wet, and quiet ride are worlds ahead of other tires on the same car.

    Just installed these on my 650i coming from pirellis. Literally a night in day difference in all categories. I have them paired with full carbon fiber staggered wheels. Handling, road noise, wet performance, comfort all went through the roof. With my KW V3 coilovers on my pirellis, I was happy, but now I'm just floored. It's a extremely luxurious experience. It's friggin pricy and is not for 40° and below weather but boy do the stars align when you're on these tires. Hats off to the engineers, it's truly the best tire on the market. If you want the ultimate in performance, comfort and have the coin, get them.

    I just sold my 15 GT Mustang last week and it had PS4S tires on it. I bought a GT350 with the Super Sports on it. I cannot wait to take them off and get PS4S tires back. They are by far the best summer tire I have ever driven on.

      First off Congrats Steve on the GT350 (funny when I did my 2nd review on the tires it was with the 350), You have a unique perspective seeing super sports to PS4S difference back to back. Something most people will not be able to notice! Awesome

      @Steve Boyher I've been really trying to find somebody who has direct experience on both the PS4S and Super Sports...can you elaborate a bit on why you like the PS4S's more? Thanks.

    • @steveb8883
      @steveb8883 3 роки тому +2

      @@51jjm I am not a pro by any means, but this is my take on the PS4S. We have had several Mustangs. I have tried numerous different tires . I tried to find a better tire than the michelin and cannot. I have had the super sports twice. They are great tires, but they do no have the grip the the PS4S gives and they do not last as long. The super sport will break loose at a much lower throttle than the PS4S does and in the corner, the super sport will start to lose grip at about 2/3 the speed of where the PS4S does. The PS4S has acceptable rain control for an ultra high performance summer tire. I recently put a set of Cup 2 Michelins on my 17 350. They are by far the best tire I have ever used, but they cannot be driven in the rain with any confidence and I would not recommend them below 50 degrees F. They never soften up enough to get grip. I am ordering a set of PS4S today for my 17 350. Unless I am tracking a car, the PS4S is the only one that I feel does the job. I just wish they made them in a 305 35 19 instead of a 305 30 19. I like a slightly taller side wall.

      @@steveb8883 Thanks so very much Steve. I really appreciate you taking the time to explain your experience to me. I'm no pro either ;), but I just absolutely love driving on my Super Sports and...I'm not so great at "change." ha! I first had them on a Audi s4 cabriolet (the old fat 8 cylinder 4.0 that had I chipped/modified to over 400hp) and now have them on a much less powerful car (VW Golf Gti mk 6) that I love as much as that old S4 and that the Super Sports transformed the car after I took the crappy Potenza's that VW supplied on the car...anyway, you are one of the very few people I have come across with direct experience between the PS4S and the Super Sports. I should be getting new tires in a few months (the PS4S's) and I will report back. Thanks again for your comment. Cheers from John down in Greece.

    I'm getting these put on my Nissan 370Z sport coupe tomorrow morning. After much research over about 20 other tire options, these tires came out on top in the performance categories that mattered the most to me: longitudinal and lateral dry grip, dry slalom times and tire weight. The superior wet performance was not a priority to me but is a nice added bonus. Michelin seems to have gotten the handling performance of a 200 UTQG tire with the longevity of a 300 series tire. I really like the use of the Kevlar belts instead of steel for the lighter weight, increased stiffness and better transient response to steering inputs and road irregularities. I'm a retired physicist who likes to dabble in mechanical engineering topics and so it was very interesting to study the construction and performance characteristics of this tire.

    I bought a used CTS VSport that a previous owner had put different front and rear, mid-price all seasons on. Great car but I could tell the tires were holding it back, the rear would step out huge under power and even the front tires were getting pushed around. Switched to these and a good car became amazing. It corners like a roller coaster, and intentional abuse of the throttle on corner exit just gives a little shimmy. They feel determined to stick, which is fun and also makes the car much safer.

PSS4S are best high performance street tire for everyday driving (in relatively warm weather). Just upgraded from Super Sports to the S4 and it feels very different. I drive a manual steer, manual brake muscle car so every little thing I change usually has a noticeable difference. Turning is different I can feel the stronger sidewall. I had to change the brake bias between the front and back these bit harder (I have large two piece Wilwood rotors, calipers, master and proportioning valve). They're quiet and in certain turns where I could make the rear slide a little it takes a tad bit more throttle to do the same. Very good product! We'll see how they wear but in my experience what makes their compounds stand out is how well they perform AFTER 20-30k miles.

    • @Modbargains-google-plus

      For all intents and purposes, yes.
      You just wouldn't want to take them up to the mountains in the snow, as freezing temperatures would compromise the compound and traction. But in our dry-wet conditions in California, no A/S tire would grip as well. The only thing you 'sacrifice' would be over-all tread life, as an A/S tire would last 2-3x as long.

    I put these on my 2019 Nissan 370Z 6MT with sport package as replacements for the OEM Bridgestone Potenza S007. They are quieter, lighter and better wearing than the Bridgestones but the sidewalls are much less stiff. Theis has resulted in a less harsh ride but with more vagueness in the steering, a less precise handling tire. This tire might be better suited for a heavier GT performance car where comfort has a higher priority. My next set of tires will probably be the Michelin Cup 2s.

      Thanks for your comment. I have just ordered a set for my Jaguar F-Pace. The Pirelli P Zero tyres did 30k miles I was a bit concerned as Michelin said Pilot Sport 4 S is a summer tyre so we recommend to use it above 7 degrees C. It can be used below 7 as well but not for long time periods. So if the temperature drops below 7 degrees for long periods in your area, we recommend to use winter tyres during this time. Got these on a 500+hp Australian falcon. The fronts 245/35/19 feel like they will rip your eyes out. The 275/30/19 rears, not so much. They have trouble handling the horsepower and traction control intervenes. Only new so hoping for more grip to come on the rear.

      I have supercharged xr8, last one, with similar hp. I’m wondering if maybe 285 or 295 at the rear with these Michelin Pilot Sport 4s would help with that acceleration. Have the stock standard Dunlop’s now and I have zero traction under power.

    Hey everyone. It's been a few years now...I'm curious for those who have driven on both Pilot Super Sports and Pilot Sport 4S tires, if they still feel the 4S is an improvement over the Pilot Super Sports? I've read a few reviews now that say that the 4S is a great tire, but just doesn't have the road "communication/feel" that the Pilot Super Sport does when driving aggressively in the dry. Thanks for any replies.

      I went from the Bridgestone Potenza S007, the OEM tire on my 370Z, to these and it is true that the sidewalls are less stiff. I had to go up on the inflation pressure about 10 psi to equalize wear across the tread. I can feel the lower stiffness as an increased sense of vagueness in the steering, with less firm control in sharp cornering. My next set will be the Michelin Cup 2s.

      @@videomaniac108 Thanks for your reply Jim. Appreciate it. I'm coming-up on new tires and I think I'm going to go for the Pilot Sport 4S's...in part to satisfy my own curiosity as to how they compare to the Super Sports. Again, my anticipation is that the Super Sports will be better in the dry for performance, but in the rain the 4S will beat it. Hard to find straight comparisons between the the two Michelins. I've been driving on Michelin Super Sports for 15 years now and have no complaints. It is still an awesome tire. I'll report back once I get the 4S's on. Cheers!

    Hello!!! Great video on amazing tires...I was wondering about the price on these tires. I understand their may be a premium and accept it but is there a specific difference regarding the ps4s tires you guys sell via the modbargains link and the tirerack version...For a model 3 tirerack sells them for 225 a tire while your site sells for 330 a tire. Am i missing something or are your tires like a manufacture version or diffrent version than the ones sold to the regular public..My tesla store mentioned there are the manufacture spec ps4s that sells for 325 which is more than what tirerack charges. They did mention that the treadlife is better when u buy from manufacture as the utqg is closer to 500 vs the other versions which are closer to utqg of 350

    I'm about to change tires and I don't know what tire to choose from the Michelin A/S 3 or the Michelin PS4S. Price wise, the A/S 3 price is $713 installed with taxes and the PS4S is $847 installed with taxes. By the way, the roads where I live are crap so the tire life of the two previous set I've had is around 23K to 25K miles. Any suggestion of which of these two best suits?

    • @ronhay6511

      The P4S sidewalls are stiffer, in corners you definitly feel far more planted. Grip and handeling increase i'd say is almost a 20-30% based on my subjective review of it, this is considerable. During like a bank turn you really can feel that this tire won't flex out. Hope that helps.

    I wonder if this tyre woukd be good on a TVR Tuscan? The toughened sidewalls might have a negative effect on a car that only weighs 1 tonne and the tyres shoud only be at 26 psi, I wonder if the tyre would be good on a lightweight car running lower 26 psi tyre pressures? I have a feeling the tyre is designed for cars at 1.5 tonne and above and running higher 30psi pressures

    • @ronhay6511
      @ronhay6511 4 роки тому +1

      Hi Dennis, I think these tires would still be good. The tougher sidewall will be better during cornering regardless of the lower weight, yes you can run a lower tire pressure, but what are you trying to achieve, is this for lap speed? There are always some changes that are different then one another, but the tire is first designed on race cars for compound purposes then brought down for every day usage, example like in the wet etc. If you are looking for pure race purposes look at the Michelin Sport Cup 2's. If we can help further let us know, can contact us here at ModBarains, sales@modbargains.com

    • @Big2009Gee
      @Big2009Gee 6 років тому +6

      @@foxyboots definitely got 4s, there good just a little soft if you over inflate the tyres you get uneven wear, the best way to tell you have the right pressure is to go for a quick drive and check you tyre temperature if the middle is the same as the sides the you pressure is perfect, if the centre is colder than the the sides it's under inflated, if the centre is hotter than the sides it's over inflated. 33 psi is perfect for my gtr on 305/30/20 and 265/35/20.

    • @Modbargains-google-plus
      @Modbargains-google-plus  7 років тому +15

      In many ways I'd say yes. But take heed... its not a real Apples-to-Apples comparison. The Sport Cup 2 is a DOT approved track & competition tire. In theory when pushed to the limit in perfect dry weather, the Sport Cup 2 would provide better grip on a track. However the moment you hit a standing puddle you'd end up in the weeds.
      .
      PS4Ss are a daily Ultra-High Performance Summer Tire. Excellent for both Dry & Wet with exceptional tread life given their performance rating. Not to mention something you could drive home on after a long days event with confidence.

    • @Modbargains-google-plus
      @Modbargains-google-plus  7 років тому +9

      In reference to my reply above. As far as raw dry/track traction, Pilot Sport Cup 2's will out hold and out lap a PS4S. But this is to be expected as Sport Cup 2s are a DOT track tire with significantly less tread life expectancy and not one intended for daily use with the expectation of reaching 30,000+ miles on a 4 wheel rotation set.
