It's so shocking to me reading through these comments and seeing all the negative comments about their new upgrades and how things don't match. They are clearly so happy with the work they did and the upgrades they made and she mentions she is not an interior designer and doesn't enjoy a lot of clutter ect. I would be so upset if I showed my home knowing how proud I was of the hard work I had put into it to then receive all the negativity. I can pretty much bet that zero of the ppl that made rude comments would never in a million years walk into their house not knowing them at all and going through their house picking it apart naming each and everything they don't like or should change. It's so crazy to me. If you don't have something nice to say don't say anything at all and she not once asked for negative opinions.

The house looks beautiful. I love that you guys wanted to remodel instead of buying a new house. It's nice for your children to have roots and look back and say "that was our family home growing up." I also love that you and Joel teach your babies that a little hard work brings amazing results.

Bonnie, I would add some curly willow sticks (3 or 5 ) in the large vase with the peonies in it. I used to be floral designer,and the design rule is the flowers should be one and a half times the height of your container. You will see that when you add the willow sticks the arrangement will then have aesthetic harmony. You will be pleased when you see them. By the way, your house is beautiful and Joel is awesome. Bonnie I love your living room! The whole house is amazing. And to your comment about not decorating much, in interior design school we learnt that less is more in a smaller room if you want to create the illusion of your living room being bigger. I think it's perfect!
I think the red chair doesn't look good in the living room, but everyone has their own Style. And Bonnie your kitchen is my dream kitchen, love it..............

My husband is a general contractor and even HE has been impressed by Joel's work! Love this overview of the remodel! We just started tearing down walls in our house to make it more open and it's a WRECK right now but I just keep telling myself "it'll pay off soon!" :)
P.S. Bonnie, can you do a tutorial on your curly hair? Like what products you use on it? It always looks so good and my hair looks like a mess when I leave it natural!
I really like how you remodeled your home instead of getting a new one or building one. I feel like you are good at resisting trendy things for the sake of them being trendy and seem to be good stewards of your finances and good decision makers. It really is a gorgeous home and you should be insanely proud of your hard work!

Yes, I thought of that too! See if you can take the numbers off and spray paint them to be same as the wood tone!

I love all the choices you have made with your spaces upstairs. I like your colors and textures. I think my favorite feature is your big gorgeous glass doors looking into your back yard. It gives excellent natural lighting too👍🏻
I have to admit the one that hit me the hardest was the kitchen one. I loved watching Bonnie give Lincoln his first bath in that little sink. And all the times that Olivia or Cody would fill it with water and sit in it. Or that cutie little glass table that they used to drop macaroni on all the time and lay on the floor looking at it from under the table saying “ that macaroni and cheese is floating”😂. But the changes they made were amazing and the kitchen is absolutely gorgeous. I love it and even though old memories were made in the old kitchen and living room, new ones will be made x

Stop phone-shaming Joel! He has more important things to do than be glued to a smart phone like the rest of the world. He spends his time with the people he loves, communicating face to face. I think it's admirable that he puts people before things. He can clearly be reached by his family when needed. Bonnie has a smartphone and makes use of its functions, so there is one in the household, if needed. Joel seems happy content with what he has. Use whatever kind of phone you want to, Joel! Don't let the Internet phone shame you!

I don't really have any questions, I'm Scottish and I live in Suffolk, England, so no point asking where you got stuff. Having said that if someone said I could move there I would be there in a heartbeat, even though I have a 34 yr old son and 14 yr old grandson......planes are almost as quick getting to them as cars are lol. I just want to say your house is beautiful, you both take care of your house and kids as well as any good person could, and I feel like you are part of my family. My one suggestion for getting a rug by the front door is to get an indoor/outdoor rug. I have an indoor/outdoor rug for a high traffic area of our apartment and I LOVE it because you can literally take it outside and hose it down! SO great for getting dirt and salt off that gets tracked in. So, so easy and durable!
Absolutely beautiful. You decorate with your heart, don't listen to anyone. If you decide to change anything it should be from you, except you are right about putting something over the kitchen door and window. Doesn't have to be down all the time Joel, unless you want to put a taller fence in the backyard...

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the kitchen! The house it's beautiful Bonnie, great modern style with a classic touch. Oh, and about the big old chair near to the fireplace (where the kids love to chill), you can change the fabric or put a good cape on, you don't need to take that off! Love you guys ❤️

It's a fun process and fun to watch every little detail change the room. My boyfriend and I have built us a house; and when I say build we has done everything ourselves. We dug the foundation , all the way to hand-making the doors. All we have left is to build the kitchen cabinets. It's been hard work but very rewarding. It makes you cherish and take care of every part of your HOME. FYI your kitchen is gorgeous!! You two have a good eye and we might steal a few of your ideas!! ;)

That old chair really doesnt belong in your new room. Maybe you can refurnish it to be in color of the new ones. And the sofa or how you call it doesnt really match with the chairs. To much going on with all those pieces of furniture. It's just my opinion but shouldnt they at least be a little bit matching. You didnt mentioned coffee table, will you put one.?
just get it reupholstered to match... if it's at all sentimental to you, it's a really nice style.
