I wonder if when you take the small dowel out of the center, if you laid it on top of the fibre if that would give you more even grip across the rolag when you draft it out? Hope that made sense. Beautiful rolags nonetheless.
Thank you. If I understand what you are saying I think it would still be the same thing. I would draft and roll and I would be back to where I was with the metal rod rolling up in it as it was in the beginning. I will try it out and see if I am visualizing it correctly! Thanks for watching, Spin Happy!
I really love your videos! Question for you. Have you blended angora? I don’t remember seeing a video with it. I have a lot of angora from my daughters rabbits and need to use it but I’m not sure how
I do not have any Angora! I did get some a few years ago and spun it straight. I didn’t blend it with wool, and I knit a pair of fingerless mitts. I know it’s supposed to bloom so it should be blended with wool, but I really love them, and they are so warm. I have not had a problem with blooming, but I can see if it was a fitted garment like a shawl or a sweater it would really need to be blended with wool. If I get some, I will see how it blends up with some wool. I have carded fine fibers on my drum carder, I have even carded cashmere. I will have to see if I can get some. There is a farm on my FB feed called Bayou Angoras and her stuff looks amazing! I might reach out and see if I can make a purchase! Thanks for asking your question, it has got me thinking! @@jkfiberarts I spun a single of angora and a single of Romney hogget then plied them together. It made a lovely lace cowl that’s extremely warm! 🥵 I’m interested in blending it this time but not sure how well it’ll do on my Ashford Wild Carder. I guess the only way to know is to give it a try…. 😁 I’ll definitely be watching to see what you may come up with!
