Same feelings I have. I know a lot of girls that don’t have great self worth and security can relate to some extent including myself. She was just saying whatever to keep the peace and not have him berating her. She clearly had no plans of adoption just the fact she chose to breastfeed tells you that if your a woman hearing this. That’s the last thing you would do if you were considering adoption.

MAY cause a MOTHER to hurt her child.. the problem with this SPECIFIC AND SEVERE FORM OF POST PARDUM PSYCHOSIS, is that most MOTHERS experiencing this form of PSYCHOSIS, they DON’T KNOW THEY ARE SICK!! I believe Sean is a spoiled brat. He had a child with a “foster kid.” Which in his mind made her LESS THAN/NOT WORTHY of his dedication, devotion and honesty. He manipulated her, to not have to lose sleep by caring for an infant by himself.. this postpartum he claims to have experienced was nothing more than a child being frustrated by the responsibilities of caring for a child! Sean’s a spoiled brat, Aerial is naive and not very smart in matters of the heart.. which, lets all remember, she was 15 when she became a mother. I read a lot of comments berating and criticizing Ariel, that she must’ve known or been in on it.. that’s ridiculous. She was in love with a boy, she played mind games )which is what many young boys and girls do in relationships.) she wanted baby Kate to bring her and Sean closer together, she ASSUMED Sean loved her, she got played.. she’s responsible for being a manipulating girlfriend, but NOT for the death of her daughter.. this murder is 100% Sean’s fault. I hate to see women holding other women/mothers, especially young mothers, to much higher standards than they hold men/fathers! Let’s remember, Sean was a mamas boy, he got what he wanted, when he wanted it! Ariel was placed in foster care, got pregnant and GREW UP! She got a job, made a home, hired an attorney and took care of herself and her children! Sean loved with mommy & daddy, did everything he could to deny and financially deprive his child. Ariel should’ve said NO to adoption when in her heart she knew she couldn’t give her baby away.. but until we are in her shoes.. we have no right to judge her for going along with Sean’s demands, his demands were 100% SELFISH, he didn’t want to pay, if he cared at all for Kate, he would’ve understood how normal it is to put his name on the BC, How normal it is to get the child health insurance and support.. Kate needs diapers and clothing whether she’s going to be adopted or not.. the hours, days, weeks and months of her life before adoption are just as much HIS responsibility as it was Ariel’s. He was sexually experienced enough to know that when you have unprotected sex, your partner can get pregnant.. he had a 2 children! Aerials a victim, a mother who lost her daughter. If she seems aloof, checked out, naive’, uneducated or to have reacted oddly.. how does one react? If she truly loved Sean, believed he loved her and their kids.. if she truly believed a mistake/accident happened.. then of course she’d want to protect Sean from life in prison.. ever since she caught on that Sean was a liar, that he likely killed Kate, she began cooperating with prosecution, once Sean confessed, she too wanted justice... but don’t hate on aerial for not wanting to see the father of her children hang, she’s raising a daughter who loves her daddy.. this is hard on everyone involved, but the ONLY person who deserves to be punished for this is Sean.
Who she “truly loves” has absolutely nothing to do with being a mother. Protect your children!! I don’t care how young you are. Why do we always say “we’ll She was young”? There are tons of single young mothers who stay out of toxic relationships and figure it out on their own. There’s thousands of young moms who don’t have murdered kids. You don’t get a pass once you birth a child. Your only duty is to protect your child. People aren’t judging her because she isn’t smart (not her fault), people are judging her general attitude on the stand. And she began to cooperate because she has no choice. And yes, I do hold mothers to a higher standard then fathers. Sorry, there’s a chemical instinctual and tangible connection we have as mothers.
This is so sad. A Mother lost her child. She might have thought about abortion, adoption........but she became a mother. I heard her say in an interview "I had dreams for her future." Little Kate is a baby lost - because of her daddy loosing control. I wish for her mother: peace of mind. The crime is not on her.
It takes the suspicion off of him and makes her at least as an accomplice. Making someone else look guilty makes a difference. Prosecution has to do all the proving. Not defense.

He did! whoever may have wanted an abortion or adoption at any time is irrelevant. considering an abortion whilst in early pregnancy is not an indicator of murdering your 4-month old baby.
I agree disorganised and the court itself. Poorly designed. Not for a lengthy trial. They seam to be florinding. I think the son had a wealth family and he was embarrassed to tell his parents of another child. Did she not take precautions for herself.

Keep in mind that he was innocent until proven guilty. (I know he's guilty now.) When defendants stand trial, they are most often removed from their shackles, primarily because defendants in shackles and even their jail clothes can prejudice a jury. The best way to keep someone in prison is to give them a fair and unprejudiced trail. Unless there is a clear and present danger, defendants go to the court room for trials without their shackles removed.
Inas El-Sayed I think you are referring to PTSD “post traumatic stress disorder” not postpartum depression. The latter is only experienced by new mothers due to hormone level drops after birth.
Amy Elizabeth men don’t experience “postpartum” depression that is a very specific condition linked to drastic hormone level changes after a mother gives birth. Now men can experience depression after becoming a parent due to stress it’s just not the same diagnosis.

I was a mother at 17. My babys father didnt want anything to do with our child so I LEFT and raised my child by myself. Dont force some low life to be in a childs life. She was way to young and uneducated to make adult decisons. She didnt even have her own mother and father to support her raising these kids. It was a disaster waiting to happen.

I think the defense knew they didn't have a case, and did their best to poke holes in the prosecution. It's actually quite painful to watch a case like this.
Horrible. I don't even remember exactly what I did yesterday. Imagine being interrogated about what you did and how you did it, when your mind probably was elsewhere worrying about where is your child.
She already testified that she was saying those things about adoption to either get them to stop fighting or so that he would bring Haley back. Half the time I think she just wanted him to text her. She was young. I don’t blame her for a second. She was in foster care. She carried those babies instead of aborting them. She got her own apt, fought for custody, graduated high school and college. I truly wish her the best in life. I hope she’s been able to heal and get some therapy to deal with everything she’s been through.

Because the defense lawyer is trying to justify why his client killed that baby. Basically trying to say that she kept saying the adoption thing over and over and putting it in his head but then changing her mind at the last second. Which no, the only reason she said all of that was because he would never give her back her daughter if he didn’t and they’d have to take it into Family Court to get on the adjustments made and that takes time so then she wouldn’t see her daughter. She did it and I get her older daughter back to her. This man is a grimy man and so is the defense lawyer
The defense is trying to create the appearance that the father truly cared about and wanted the child. That's why they read all the text messages she sent that said she was ready to give the girl up for adoption, and he wasn't responding, because he really didn't want to give her up --- and therefore it makes no sense he'd kill her to get rid of her. So their goal was to say, "Look, the mom keeps bugging him to bring the girl to the adoption agency, and he's not doing it. So why would he kill her if they could have just given her up?" It's pretty much the only defense they could muster, and it didn't work But that's why the defense is going over that stuff in detail. They just wanted one juror to buy into that story and avert a guilty verdict.

They said they didn’t have them, and the defense isn’t required to include them. If the texts do exist, then the prosecution can introduce them if they please. Even without his texts it’s blatantly obvious she was talking about giving up the child for adoption.

The witness did a much better job under questioning than the prosecutor regarding all the text messages. The prosecutor just sat there, not objecting when the text messages were without substance as to their meaning. The witness took it upon herself to point it out, while the prosecutor sat there like a dolt.
If the mom is still testifying, why does she keep getting up, going to talk to people in the audience and leaving the courtroom with them? She should be separated from everyone until she is done

It is a defense after all and there trying to show in her texts she was messing with his head and was causing him to get frustrated and angry and that he took that frustration out on the car seat not realizing the baby was in the seat. They are just trying to show her character and that she was using manipulative tactics to get him to do what she wants and lied to him over and over. She's helping the defendant more than her child. Constantly making excuses for him. It reminds me of Gabby Petito only he didn't kill her, he killed his own daughter. I felt sorry for this mom during her examination by the prosecution. However, after hearing everything she left out of her testimony and being cross examined by the defense attorney I don’t know that I feel that sorry for her anymore. She basically begged him, according to her text messages, to put her child up for adoption. She seems a little shady to me now. Wanting to give your child up for adoption so that they can have a better life is not bad... she wanted to give her a better life.. she didn't want her dead
She was never going to have an abortion or give the baby up. She kept entertaining and at some points pushing this idea on him so he would talk to her. She says several times to him that bc he’s not answering her, she’s not going to do it anymore. You can tell by her persistence as well that she got little to no responses back most of the time. Every time she texted him about giving the baby up was a way to have him communicate with her and maybe go over to where she was and be with her and the baby. That’s it, that’s all.
I hope the state is going to show the "other side" of these text messages...it is like she was having a conversation with herself! Only on Day 2 part one so this may be answered later on lol :)

Keep in mind that he was innocent until proven guilty. (I know he's guilty now.) When defendants stand trial, they are most often removed from their shackles, primarily because defendants in shackles and even their jail clothes can prejudice a jury. The best way to keep someone in prison is to give them a fair and unprejudiced trail. Unless there is a clear and present danger, defendants go to the court room for trials without their shackles removed.

She already testified that she was saying those things about adoption to either get them to stop fighting or so that he would bring Haley back. Half the time I think she just wanted him to text her. She was young. I don’t blame her for a second. She was in foster care. She carried those babies instead of aborting them. She got her own apt, fought for custody, graduated high school and college. I truly wish her the best in life. I hope she’s been able to heal and get some therapy to deal with everything she’s been through.

Because the defense lawyer is trying to justify why his client killed that baby. Basically trying to say that she kept saying the adoption thing over and over and putting it in his head but then changing her mind at the last second. Which no, the only reason she said all of that was because he would never give her back her daughter if he didn’t and they’d have to take it into Family Court to get on the adjustments made and that takes time so then she wouldn’t see her daughter. She did it and I get her older daughter back to her. This man is a grimy man and so is the defense lawyer
The defense is trying to create the appearance that the father truly cared about and wanted the child. That's why they read all the text messages she sent that said she was ready to give the girl up for adoption, and he wasn't responding, because he really didn't want to give her up --- and therefore it makes no sense he'd kill her to get rid of her.
So their goal was to say, "Look, the mom keeps bugging him to bring the girl to the adoption agency, and he's not doing it. So why would he kill her if they could have just given her up?"
It's pretty much the only defense they could muster, and it didn't work
But that's why the defense is going over that stuff in detail. They just wanted one juror to buy into that story and avert a guilty verdict.

The prosecutor just sat there, not objecting when the text messages were without substance as to their meaning. She was never going to have an abortion or give the baby up. She kept entertaining and at some points pushing this idea on him so he would talk to her. She says several times to him that bc he’s not answering her, she’s not going to do it anymore. You can tell by her persistence as well that she got little to no responses back most of the time. Every time she texted him about giving the baby up was a way to have him communicate with her and maybe go over to where she was and be with her and the baby. That’s it, that’s all.
