Diresta: Bandsaw Biplane

- Recently my buddy David Waelder was vloging for an air show in Italy. His video reminded me of a fundraiser Steve Ramsey promoted in the fall, makerscare.org. During the fundraiser, 100's of makers created airplanes of all shapes and sizes.
I missed the opportunity then, so i made my plane now!!

Am i the only one who noticed how he wrapped the sand paper around the body to get the perfect fit for the cockpit thingy.. Damn that was really awesome. Never ever in my 1000 lives would i have thought of that
I know right? Lateral thinking at it's best
Is It in 3:45?
You're not the only one, such as at least 18 (now)%)))
yeah i notice the same thing, it's so simple and clever that amaze me
I noticed it and thought it was very smart. I don't think I ever would have thought of doing that, but it makes perfect sense.
I need return to childhood and play this biplane
я донт андерстенд по русски ващето :)
oba palites))
О, Наши и тут отметились :))).
AlfFisher ne pali kontory :D
Гыыы... %D
This is what makes Mr. Diresta so amazing to watch. He can see what that biplane looks like in his mind and create it. I could have photos, plans and full patterns and still not have it come out as good.
Ok the end made my day!!! :)
Totally agree! I was hoping for something and he totally surpassed my expectations!
same :)
Me too! : )
woodworking memes :D
i can watch Jimmy D on the band saw for hours. He's living proof what experience and talent can do.
The freehand propeller was just awesome. Great work Jimmy!
Love this video. Made me remember watching helping/hindering my grandpa make toys for us when we visited.
Told you he could do anything on the bandsaw.
there is something just so pleasing about your videos
Love the sound of a radial engine, the wood mellows it out nicely!
Mr. Diresta, You are my hero! More importantly, my 11 year old son loves the bandsaw, and you're also one of his hero's!
ps. I liked this video before the ending, and after the flight around the shop I wished I could like it twice.
+Andrew Kavanagh Me too!
Never a dull moment in Jimmy's world. Great build and video.
This was a great build. The best part was when the motor turned over and the plain took off. Great touch.
I love watching you work.
A man at one with his tools. Superb craftsmanship.
You are an absolute wizard on the bandsaw

I love this guy..infact my entire 150 personal staff love watching him! So I made an office rule to have Jimmy time. Jimmy time is where we all gather in our meeting hall and put on Jimmy videos. It soothes our stress levels. Thank you Jimmy!

One of your best makes Jimmy.

Just Gold Jimmy, I've watched everything you have done and I'm still seeing new tricks. Thanks for sharing.
Its always awesome to watch someone carve with a band saw. Stretches the mind to see the possibilities of a tool. Not to mention its one kewl bi-plane. - thanks for the video. - Annie
You are the only bandsaw wood carver I know of. Awesome work as usual.
Loved the end! And the build, of course!
Wood carving with the bandsaw. excellent work !
You are by far the best video woodworker/maker on UA-cam. Your videos inspire me to go and make something. I really mean it.
Thanks again
goes along nicely with your sculpture resin figures
What a great display of craftsmanship, I was so anxious to see how will jimmy do the propeller that I will have to see the video again 😁
It seems Jimmy has returned to his childhood by making the last part of this video into a Red Baron-esce biplane stop motion adventure! Bravo! :)
Haha dude, this is a chill plane & the sequence at the end with the engine noise was chill as well.
awesome as always
now you definitely owe us a bandsaw tank mister
I didn't read the description until after watching the video. The whole time I was thinking... this would have been awesome for Steve Ramsey's fundraiser. Cheers to you, Jimmy! Awesome little plane too.
Jimmy Diresta controls his bandsaw like Brian May controls his guitar. Love it!
Super Cool! Nice Job Jimmy
Beautiful work. I really enjoy your creativity.
This man can make anything on a bandsaw.
All i can say is thanks, keep it up jimmy; vides may seem simple but they are a joy to those who appreciate the art.
The last part was the best and i see like everybody can do this progect it just needs a saw and sandpaper cool thinking DIRESTA btw Thanks A Lot!!
Jimmy isn't just a maker, he's a bandsaw artist.
Very nice work as usual Jimmy!
Jimmy is the man.
Made one of these with my dad years ago, I loved it. Now that I've seen this Video I want to make it again.
Nice, I love the tory you have told in this video
I was thinking how funny it would be if after you spun the propeller a couple times it started up and took off. And then it did. That was awesome. I did not expect that in a Diresta video. Your bandsaw skills are incredible.
Been watching for years. Best video yet! You are a MASTER on the bandsaw.
Awesome Build!!! You are so talented, you must see the plane inside the block of wood...
Thanks for sharing!!!
Felix

Now I need a bandsaw. Or maybe try this out on my coping saw? In any case the chipmunks singing country on the plastiwood scene gave me a laugh. Awesome work jimmy 👍👍👍
Good to see you do a toy for the joy. Nice👍
Great build. You've become quite the skilled artisan with the bandsaw.
Love this! Can't for the life of me figure out how ANYONE can give this video, or ANY of Jimmies videos a thumbs down?? He's the kind of woodworker we should all strive to be like.
This work is too much handsome, congratulations!!
Wow, you Jimmy are just an awesome wizard. If I gain only a tenth of the comfort level that you have with the bandsaw, I know I can do amazing things. Keep up the Great work. Lots of love and respect from Norway 🙂
Diresta is the bandsaw master
Awesome as always Jimmy! Got a real lol out of me at the end when it "started up". Bravo!

Great work Jimmy. This was a fun watch and you nailed the ending!
It's the DIresta Baron swooping in for the kill!
The GREAT bandsaw master resorted to sandpaper? Must be sick. Great job Jimmy!!
I was waiting for Spike to swat it out of the air!
My fingers were nervous watching this. Real skills to not leak people-juice on that plane!
Very cool my nephew would love it
Jimmy, the plane is so cool. Just loved how the propeller moved as if there was a real engine in it. I can just see you with a WWI leather aviators helmet on. BTW, really enjoyed hanging with you at Windy City my friend.
That last part cracked me up so much!
