"Beyblade" is a spinning top game where players launch customizable spinning tops into a small dish and, through the power of physics, battle it out. The peripheral you're probably referring to is the "Beypoint Reader"; a little adapter that was released with the first Metal Fight Beyblade DS game. The Beypoint Reader allowed you to connect a Beypointer to the DS, and transfer points to it. The "Beypointer" was a little device that attached to a launcher that would reward points to whoever won a battle and act as sort of a ranking system. The Beypointer could also be used to connect to "Bey Ta" arcade machines to play for a chance to win an exclusive Beyblade Top(Quetzalcoatl 90WF for Bey Ta 1, and Mercury Anubis 85XF for Bey Ta 2).

I still prefer the original DS to the DS Lite. Between how often buttons (primarily L and R) stop working, the small form factor which kind of sucks if you have particularly large hands, and the speakers being far less beefy on the Lite, the old fat DS is my go-to. Not to say the DS Lite doesn't have any advantages, but if I'm going to sit down and play at home, where I don't have to worry about it fitting in my pocket, then I'll go for the big boy every time.

When I saw the title, I expected the Guitar Hero thing along with some DS and GBA carts linking together, but it was even weirder than that. The strangest use of this link that I know of is how Pokemon Diamond/Pearl/Platinum will add new wild Pokemon in certain areas based on the GBA Pokemon game in Slot 2, and there's nothing in the game even hinting at this.

Monster rancher for the PS1 had a similar gimmick
Switching disk to get new cards
So did the Yugioh Tag Force games
With a UMD recognition feature, some games give you random cards, some specific ones, and switching the umd with a previous Tag Force game always unlocks some unique cards and even some characters

Ace Attorney of all game series did this too! In Japan, the games came out on GBA first, then DS, and when you had both in the system at the same time, the DS would unlock all the cases for you (the idea being that you had played the originals already), which the exception of Rise from the Ashes, which was a new case for the DS version and thusly would be new to someone who got the originals.

Beyblade ➡️ customizable spinning tops from an anime with many seasons. The most recent ones have tips with shock absorption, bearings, metallic tips... That you can mix and match with middle and upper parts with more gimmicks to attack and defend yourself in battle. Make your opponent stop spinning, knock it out the stadium or make it dismantle in battle (they have a spring lock inside that holds everything together) to win.

The GBA slot was a really neat thing, yes. I really enjoyed having e.g. Pokémon Ruby or the GBA port of A Link To The Past slotted in there and interrupting my session of those games with a few rounds of Tetris DS.
I didn't know about most of these peripherals though, only the Guitar Hero one.

I like this video. But seriously reconsider removing NordVPN as your sponsor. Talk about compromising all your internet traffic. And then just doubling down on more ads instead of addressing the problem and admitting it was a mistake. They seemingly show no awareness or learning from their mistakes. Avoid like cancer.

A bunch of GBA slot DS accessories are stuff that came to the DS family later in life. A camera for the dsi, a pedometer for the 3DS, a piano keyboard for the Switch (with labo)... I guess the Switch ain’t part of the DS family. Except the guitar hero tab and the taito paddle.

Face Training wasn't a downloadable game on the DSi, it was a cartridge game that only worked on the DSi, DSi XL and all 3DS models. The box included a card stand for your system, similar to the one WII Fit U came with for the GamePad.

My parents specifically didn't trade in my old DS _because_ of the slot 2 phase-out. At the time, my GBA SP was still inside the couch apparently (it would take years to find that one out) which made the DS my only way to play GBA games.
