Now, that was punk rock!
That was the most animated crowd I’ve ever seen at a Rockpalast show. They were loving it.
Ulster (Uladh, in Gaelic) is one of the traditional four provinces of Ireland and comprises nine counties; in 1921 Northern Ireland retained six of the counties under British rule. Loyalists still refer to 'Ulster' when they mean NI. Catholics call the British 'statelet' 'the North'.
Always thought of SLF as the Irish Clash and this track kind of shows why!
Totally agree, though less reggae
Man, that takes me back. I was a Punk Rocker in a small former mining town in southern Bavaria in the early 80s and SLF was one of my favorite bands. The Undertones were another. I saw SLF play only once in 1992 or so.
Listening to this band reminded me of teenage head who fit in with this band. There were my punk rock go to. They were a band who lacked the management to get them get a contract.
Great choice loved the band if time check out Teenage head would love to hear you thought.
Excellent choice.
Man, have I been missing out! Never heard of them, but that track was amazing. Going to have to go listen to more of their stuff. This week is going to be a revelation to me, I reckon I am going to be introduced to a few bands that I don't know. Bring it on, the first two days were fantastic.
when I got my first paycheque in 1980 I bought the Inflammable Material album teenage punk that I was and still love it now
They have some real classics you could do a Stiff little Fingers week???
Kia Ora hello guys from Aotearoa New Zealand. Hay after the Mighty Mighty CLASH S.L.F are my favourite band I've seen them three times here my second favourite song after COMPLET CONTROL the Clash is S.L.Fs version of ROOTS RADICALS ROCKERS AND REGGAE original by BUNNY WHALER

Kia Ora hello my friends hope you are well hay the above link is MISSING TEETH kiwi punkrock at it's best 👍✌️ it's live at Aotearoa new zealand Punkfest 2007 and is a bloody good recording and video
I was only kid then, but this song was an anthem in NI. A light during really dark times. But therr was a brighter light with the Undertones. Im biased my uncle is one of them 😂
Well that is excellent uncle to have. Quite understand why you would be biased!
Great band. Don’t get the acclaim they deserve. Right up there with the Clash. Band dynamics were a bit unusual given, I believe, their manager wrote most of the lyrics for their songs.
The show posters in the background take me back a few years: Pine Street, Blue Gallery, Starry Night, Satyricon-- those are all in Portland (OR)-- where are these guys from?
Us? The Thames Valley!
Kia Ora S.L.F ROOTS RADICALS ROCKERS AND REGGAE ....TIN SOLDIERS.... NOBODY'S HEROS.... GOTTA GET AWAY start with them and have a full written report on these great songs Wednesday morning CHUR CHUR 🤟👍✌️🤪😵💫
Christy Moore ......Ride On
That’s a track!!
Definitely my cup of tea! I always think of myself as "not into punk", but actually there's a long list of punk bands I'm very fond of, and SLF is very near the top (sorry, The Damned takes the #1 slot). If you were going to do one more from them I'd pick _White_ _Noise,_ mostly because I love it but partly because it was so misunderstood by people who didn't bother to listen to it properly. A friend of mine got to work with Jake Burns, as well as Bruce Foxton from The Jam, on a computer game soundtrack. I feel that's something you could dine out on, if you chose your dining partners carefully enough...
Listen to tin soilders!
@@TheThamesmen oh yes, another great one! We've got someone from Omagh living with us this year who didn't know SLF (mumble mumble youth of today mumble), and that was the second track I played him. (In fact I've introduced him to SLF _and_ Hawkwind, both of which he enjoyed).
@@elvwood good work!
You two are a brilliant example of typical British confusion........
Difficult to imagine living in a place where that kind of violence is happening. How hard would it be to send your kids off to school?
As stated before, I have difficulty getting into punk. Not saying they are bad at what they do, but I just can't work up the will to enjoy it. I get where it is coming from given their circumstances, but it's just not for me.
sorry to bug you i know you are busy but if you have a moment would love if you could give a listen to teenage head from my home town
I hope Rory or Garry are not forgotten, only three days left. Then there is all the rest that should not be forgotten either. Tough job you got there Richard.😂
Having had a crack at it, putting these curated weeks together is painful simply because you have to leave stuff out. Props to Richard as I’m sure that he agonised over what to put in.
