“Just keep facing the blue side, and we’ll be alright”. The footage of a natural, backwards walking mum absolutely cracked me up! She is so cute. Hope she got her fire and warmed up. Love your sense of humor and expertise Jessie, and mum, Lilly and the girls. It is so cool and fun to go along with you and mum on you’re forays, to and from the car, or shops. Love those bits, and I always laugh about misplaced keys. Lol! That chard wins an award!! Keep facing the blue side girlie! xo ♥️💙🔆🔆🔆

Love how Lily waits for cuddles . Thanks as always Jessie.....cheers 🥂
I feel for you with the weather. We had a very cold and wet April and early May. In fact 2 weekends ago, we had a frost warning. Then this past weekend, it feels as if it is July. Today it was 91 degrees Fahrenheit. And, no rain. Just crazy!! I think Mother Nature forgot to take her meds. 😅
Great vlog again Jessie. I enjoyed you talking 'chicken' to the girls. As well as the chard 'dance'...😂 Last week I have been operated on my back. Result: I can't do anything in my garden. No planting out, no weeding no nothing....so frustrating. I can only give instructions to my husband and dad....do this, please do that....they will have to plant my tomatoes and peppers and the whole lot.... something I normally very much enjoy ... Keep up the good work Jessie!
🙋hi from Scotland ,hi Jess and lovely mum you think your weather is bad good job you don't live n Scotland ,l love your channel and yes it was wine time lol thank you for sharing this lovely vidio I am a seventy year old woman and have my allotment I just love that you and your lovely wee mum work the plot together take care Anne Scott from Scotland
hi jessie you have done another fantastic video again i always find your videos so insperataional and love seeing how you are getting on with your plot seeing how good your plot is make me feel proud of my plot and what im doing keep up the great work and videos
Your vlogs are the best ! I'm so addicted ❤ therapeutic, like gardening for me. I admire your techniques and thought processes. Thank you for your vlogs and experienced tips and teachings. I NEED them
If it makes you feel any better I live in on the west side of Washington State and we are pretty much having the same weather. Somewhat warm and raining during the day, then rain again at night, and then just a bit of more rain thrown in for some fun. The furnace is still on and I am underneath a quilt - and yes it is the end of May. Good side of the weather the onions, carrots, beets, celery, radishes are really happy.
hi Jessie, love your videos. What sort of work do you do outside of the allotment of course ? I should think that your allotment takes up a lot of your time. Sue (Swansea)
Thank you for inviting us to the allotment with you! Watching you and listening to your musings so reflect exactly where I am with our allotment. We also have grass paths and strimming is the most encouraging thing - it makes me want to get out there again and spend time - silly but true. I think I said before that our tomatoes are already planted up outside and they are looking so sad - the wind chill can be so unkind - just have fingers crossed that the promise of sun to come will repair the damage. We have had 3 fires this week in the house to keep warm so I hope your mum did set a fire for you to enjoy when you got home on Sunday. Have a lovely week and will look out for you on Thursday. Cheers!
Thanks Ashley! It’s one of the joys of grass paths, isn’t it? A quick strim and the whole world looks better! Gah, I’m sorry about your tomatoes. It’s been vicious out there. My neighbours squash plants have been shredded by the wind. I think your toms have a much better chance of a full recovery as soon as that sun hits! 😄
Hi Jessie the New Horizon veg compost is a bit fluffy but I use it all the time and last year filled three new raised beds with that and a mix of well rotted manure from a friend's stable (as due to lockdown didn't have much choice) and it behaved magnificently. It is a tad more expensive that some other peat free composts but the bonus is that it doesn't seem to have a green waste component that a lot of peat free composts have now. I have been trying a lot of different ones including some bulk deliveries from various sources (I can't seem to make enough of my own quickly enough). I have to say that the quality of most of those using green waste instead of peat is awful. It appears that the new environmental challenge with going peat free is that those composts using green waste instead of peat are peppered with bits of plastic shredded in. PLASTIC!! In composts that claim to natural and organic!!!! I have to say I am sad beyond sad as it is now even more difficult to keep plastic out of the food chain. One of those is a well known compost manufacturer (Levington) whose grow bags I have used for my tomatoes for years. I bought 4 and opened two to fill my tomato planters and ended up with a handful of stringy plastic shreds, glass and shards of rigid coloured plastic from each bag. I have never seen that before. Luckily New Horizon also make a tomato planter compost (I am swapping my remaining Levington ones for those). New Horizon Tomato version seems as good and as plastic free as the Vegetable version so far). I think it smells lovely proper composty even though it does look a bit unusual.
We are heading into winter here in New Zealand, and it is getting so cold now, so I will be watching you from now on and pretend I'm working in the summer garden while I'm sitting in my armchair 😅
@@JessieatPlot37 I'm am in love with your garden, you are so lucky. We had a pretty good summer here with bumper harvests so I'm sure yours will be the same 😏
That’s a great crop you’ve got there. We normally dehydrate our Leeks for use as and when in soups or stews so on. I’ve got this dehydrator it’s bloody amazing! Xx
Yup last year I was picking the first of the courgettes. This year they are still seedlings in the polytunnel on ready to go in their big buckets next week or so. It is crazy :( but hey ho, it just means I get them fresher for longer :D :D :D
Thanks Jess and Mum for taking us out in the rain and wind, hope mum got that fire going she did look cold. I’d send some sun but were in for rain this week here in Tas sad as supposed to be brilliant moon and auroras next three days, was hoping to see one but if raining I’ll go to bed instead. Take care.
I bought the same compost and I thought it was terrible.. By the left that chard is a beaut.. 😂 Love your video's they really are the best, thank you for sharing 😀
Hi, just wanted to say I throughly enjoy watching your videos, they are very informative and also very funny.... in the nicest possible way. Also we always have tea and cake at the allotment, after work of course.... Best part of the day... has to be done 😀. Once again thank you. 👍
So frustrating waiting for the right weather. Here in San Diego where we live we have to wait for heatwaves to go away which usually takes its sweet time too.
It was GW this week that Monty said to put Chillies in smaller pots as it restricts the growth and puts them into survival mode to produce more fruit, but he also said water every day. My understanding from what I have seen, read and done in the past was to let them dry out as this puts them to survival mode and produce more fruit. I’m evicting everything from GH this week end to get Tom’s, Chillies, Peppers and Aubergines planted. Cucumbers will probably go in the weekend after. Another great vlog, hope your mom got the fire going and warmed up.
I must say I have enjoyed the rain, but I think it could be warmer...My sister gave me two Strawberry Spinach Plants .....I know, ? I didn't know what the heck they where ether but I now have found out, First it's a green that tastes like Spinach but then it produces red sort of Strawberry red berries things that may or may not taste good depending on your taste buds, time will tell. Great video Jess AND Mum, thanks.
Nice to have garden friends near and far who share their disappointments (weather )and triumphs. Here in nebraska its been well what the forecast calls BREEZY BUT its gusts 40 mph plus.thats like trying to work and watch a screaming toddler 🙃. Looking forward to fleetingly nice weather.
Morning I just love a fresh cut lawn and the smell is fantastic. I sure hope (as do you I’m sure) the weather gets better soon for you, our weather has cooled down a bit with bouts of rain showers but not actual downpours. As I laid my entire poly tunnel in flagstone this year half my tomatoes are in pots and half outside. 25:18 yes if you could stop the wind that would be great 😂😂😂 as if it’s your fault. That soil looks used and full of old roots I’m just totally disgusted with compost this year most places are just selling crap. But time will tell if that stuff is any good or not. Well that’s it for rambling today as always thank you for sharing ✌️🇨🇦🐝 safe keep smiling
I think we are all struggling this season. All my plants are behind. But I am harvesting lettuce, I've had some potatoes already and have some more that are ready to harvest. I wondered whether the compost was grey because it had wool added to it? I use wool pellets to keep away the slugs and they go that colour after rotting down a bit
Hello pretty lady. Wonderful video. I simply love the music too. Emotional. It makes me think about lot of happy things.. I have been battling with my seedlings, sowing and rabbits... How do you cope with cheeky animals digging up your plants? Anyway. Great to share your day with you, I think I will join you in glass of wine too. Big love Rob.
That compost looks like mine when I've potted up and then hoovered up the mess and it's mixed with the dog and rabbit hair from my house in the actual hoover. I've used it afterwards (waste not want not) and the plants have loved it! I've also found the chillies I havent yet put in their final pots have started flowering but those in the final pot are still waiting... maybe there is truth in the smaller the pot the better (and earlier) the yield?
The weather is sooo poop!! I'm behind with sowing everything because of house renovations, I'm a little bit pleased about the poop weather, it doesnt make me feel so bad lol 🙃

👆🏼..was here, you big chard's hunter🙂 🌿💪🏼👱♀️ 🥂
omg winter hats and coats
My New Horizon looked like that too, really sandy.. :S
My lettuce is loving this cool, wet weather but unfortunately it doesn't really put me in the mood for salad
Had a lettuce sarnie for breakie
That compost looks like mine when I've potted up and then hoovered up the mess and it's mixed with the dog and rabbit hair from my house in the actual hoover. I've used it afterwards (waste not want not) and the plants have loved it!
I've also found the chillies I havent yet put in their final pots have started flowering but those in the final pot are still waiting... maybe there is truth in the smaller the pot the better (and earlier) the yield?
I think mum is diskinkificating that hose; much more efficient working backwards from the beginning to the end...
Diskinkificating! Great word...👍
The weather is sooo poop!! I'm behind with sowing everything because of house renovations, I'm a little bit pleased about the poop weather, it doesnt make me feel so bad lol 🙃

Hey girl do leeks come back year after year or do they have to be replanted each season? I love cooking with leeks they are so delicious.

Iv just started watching your vids after recently getting back into my allotment. I only have one question and I’m sure you’ve answered it many of times before! Is the cat yours or does it just live on the allotments ?
