Hi Jesse , a couple of questions on dahlias, do you cover hollow stems with mulch to keep stems dry and I find clumps of tubers get very large if not lifted and split every couple of years , cheers
Don't know how I missed this one Jessie. I popped in because you mentioned asparagus and I just.....en d Feb, got a delivery of what looks like straw buried in pots of soil. Is it now time for it to go in its permanent bed or get babie d in pots indoors?
Lovely video Jessie, do you eat your field bean shoots? Steve crops them all through the winter on Steve's Seaside Allotment UA-cam channel. I have leeks and brassicas growing and not more than 3 square metres of empty ground, I tend to plant broad beans as I have too much seed in a packet. Direct sowing has always failed for me, I think rodents eat the nice big seeds. I never got phacelia to germinate, even with fresh seed. I just mulch the beds, I find it more dependable. Do you sow green manure between your brassicas and leeks? Do you have any remedy for white blister on brassicas, my kale leaves look so awful that I don't fancy eating them🥴. I've picked most of the leaves off my brussel sprouts, kale and PSB. Only the PSB looks like it will give a decent harvest! Can I live on chard, parsnips and leeks this winter?🤔😉
I do Gwen! I've had them in salads and been completely unimpressed by them but i've started using them like spinach and they are fab! Field bean tops Risotto is wonderful! Actually white blister is one of the few things i've not had (fingers crossed it stays that way!) so i have no help i'm afraid! And yeah... parsnips, leeks and chard sounds okay to me! :D
