    This is Russe,custom painter & airbrush artist. Love your videos,PAINT ON! Keep it up.Nicely done job on Holden. I've mostly done choppers,Harley's,guitars. Recently moved towards vehicle bumper & wheel repaints due to demanded request.Thanks to your videos & product demos I have improved my finish coat quality & productivity. When people ask my how I got that nice finish I simply reply, check out the Gun Man on You Tube.

    Always great to watch an artist at work! So many people just go through the motions to make a living but real success comes from doing what you love to do - it really shows in your work!

    Lucky bloke, the owner of the ute. I have a ute of my own being restored and modified. I was sitting watching your video and wishing it was my car. Great, great job on the paint. Please post all the video you have on the ute, I know that I will watch and enjoy every second of it. Keep up the great work Gunny.

    G-Man, the ARTIST, the gentleman, way beyond just a skilled tradesman. No better way to start the day, than coffee and watching your paint float onto the car - no runs, no dry spots, no ridiculous cloud of overspray - give us more, dont worry about repeating yourself or making "silent videos".....now that I live in Europe I notice that a lot of Europeans make "silent videos" for youtube so that everyone of any language can understand what is happening...they do cute things like cut to the can of paint/back of sand paper/thermometer/viscosity drip time/clock face etc....So if you are getting bored with your own video style you might want to try something like that - an effective video with out a word of spoken language in it...just a thought.
    Dont ever stop G-Man !

    Because it seems like a good video to mention this on...
    Dude, thank you for posting all these videos. I've never painted with anything more than spray paint (rattle cans) in my life, but I've recently acquired a car that needs quite a lot of attention. I've been curious for a while about doing minor body repairs and painting, but it's quite daunting when there's so much at risk if something goes wrong.
    I don't want to say that you make it look "easy." I know there's nothing easy about it. It's a lot of preparation, hard work, attention to detail, and a tremendous amount of patience. But, you make it look "doable." I've been watching a few of your videos each night for the past couple of days, and I'm getting a bit excited to start collecting equipment and give it a go. :D
    Sadly, local ordinances prevent me from doing any sort of painting with an air tank; I'll have to use either an airless high-pressure system, or an electric HVLP. I can only hope the latter behaves similarly to the equipment you're using in these videos!
    In the mean time, thank you for all these videos! Awesome stuff, fun to watch, incredibly encouraging, and I look forward to lots more! :D

    A live event on youtube would be cool. I know you can do one with a webcam but not sure how to do it with a camera like the GoPro. Sometimes the video can lag or be poor from a webcam so I'd be interested to see how it would do for this kind of work! Always enjoy the real life painting vids... unedited. Keep up the great work :)

    Airbrushing now, too? Man, awesome, just awesome.
    Try to stay in custompainting and effects when it comes to airbrushing for its closer to painting than creating portraits and stuff like that.
    Or you could do those things in a different format entirely.
    I have painted my Motorcycle candy orange(silver,tinted clear) as my very first paint job with skills I learned watching your videos.
    I am an apprentice in the first year and usually my workplace won't let apprentices go into the booth in the first 1,5 years but after they've seen the work on my bike, they will allow me to paint in the booth earlier :3
    Great job as always.

Was the max my budget could stretch, the missus will crack it when the credit card statement arrives lol but I am hoping to get some decent results and pick up a few tips from your reviews. Hey there mate.Awsome job! If you are going to do a video about the orange peel I would like to make a suggestion.To explain to people what is the difference between european,american,japanese etc.orange peel look.I have noticed after watching tons of videos and reading kmeters of comments that the europeans tend to say about american or japanese finishes that they are "orange peely" and viceversa.In my opinion and I am sure I yours too a painter has to get as close as posible to the original finish.

    Do you ever use a sealer coat between primer and paint? I don't understand why its needed but here in the US people are always going on about it. Thx. p.s I like the repartition, it hammers home the point.

    • @TheGunmanChannel
      @TheGunmanChannel  9 років тому +1

      C Marshall when using water based paints if you put it over even the slightest bit of metal then the water will start the metal rusting so I think that's a big reason some people use it but I find it not necessary and don't want the extra film build plus it can dull off slightly sometimes.

Ive got a question for you, im painting a mates HJ sedan in XR5 orange which consists of base cote of funky orange then pearl orange translucent orange (candy type) then clear cote. PS sure you know of this combination.... If i keep a consistant style of painting, can i paint panels individualy without the whole car ut together. Or will this give me an in consistent finish? better to paint back to front as one? Kind regards

    Hi mate just wondered if i could pick your brains for some advice mate ? I bought 2 new prolites one base one clear,and the basecoat gun is top and bottom heavy on the paint fan ? Also it keeps spitting little chunks of paint out every now and then ? It did it from first time of using it and i am very thorough with cleaning ! Have been wondering if the gun has a manufacturing fault but never ever had trouble with a new devilbiss gun ? Only used it 4 times ? Any advice on this would be great ? Gonna speak to rep i bought it off tomorrow,thank you 👍

      Mark Me I'm wearing a anti static jacket with woven carbon in it, the Tyvek suits don't have anti static so no real use using one but to keep yourself clean, when its 40c I'm not layering up like an Eskimo and I can get jobs just as clean wearing a singlet and shorts you just have to blow the dust off yourself before you go in.

    • @TheGunmanChannel

      Jiazi Liu Yes its cold but I believe 15 is still ok to paint in, you will have extended drying times and chance of issues any colder than that. The winter is coming (lol) here in Perth too so stay tuned in the next few months I'll be painting in a colder environment without heat in my booth too so I'll be making some videos giving tips on painting in the cold.

    Can u do how to spray silver & golds, and if u have tips to trouble shoot using different reducers or if temperatures affect them??

    • @77petesgarage
      @77petesgarage 9 років тому

      ***** he shot the silver the same as he did all other colors(that doesnt really help) nothin really different. i talked to this older dude at a paint shop who had 40 years exp..he said people usually get Mottling or tiger stripes cause they use cheap $20 or $30 reducers that mostly contain Acetone, he said u gota use higher quality reducers and use a slow reducer and medium if its cold... I think gun man must uses high quality reducers with with quality paint so he never has problems...i mainly struggled a bit with Valspar low VOC paint but not with Metalux.. its a trial and error type of stuff
      also u gota make sure the cup of your gun doesnt get cloged on top or it will affect how the metallics lay..later

    Hi I love watching your vids , great , I have one question , with the Holden Utes there is the wheel arch crease in all guards , allot of guys bog the crease out cause they can't retain the shape , my experence was , Hz 79 mint straight body , in mollested ute , I was confronted buy a guy at the gas station who collected holdens and said if I loose the crease the value would be not as good , so I cut out two card board patterns of the crease from the wheel arch up and felt marked the crease each paint process , sanders away from the marks , both ways following the pen lines , long boarded from the marks ,when the top coat was applied there they were , we undercoated 4 times , and continuous top coat till done , clears to Finnish , polish all good. Looks tops , I wish you were the gunman with my ute but the hoses won't reach New Zealand , keep up the good work thanks

      +Dave Pollard lower pressure at the regulator on the wall until it's just enough for the gun.

      Hi Gunny, thanks for tip bud, however I thought you should know what my problem was. I decided to call in an engineer to look at it and give compressor a service. What he found, blew my mind! The workshop next to mine was re-let the weekend gone. My compressor is outside at the rear of my paint shop. My new neighbours had T'd into my air supply, hence my drop in pressure. Prob sorted now, and new neighbours!. just another day :) Take care Gunny, and thanks for all your work on the vids...

    I'm from the states,in a town called Rancho Cucamonga Ca.next to Ontario International Airport. Check out coastairbrush.com & coastairbrush tv.I have learned a loads from this out fit.Supporting artist like Ryno,Cory Saintclair,Mike Lavelley,Craig Fraisers. Just to name a few.Also check out Ryan Townsend, Bizzurk custom paint he shares a lot of knowledge.Let us know how u like the dagger airbrush. My work horse is the Iwata eclipse cs gravity feed.It comes with. .35 mm set up, and easily converts to .5 mm using eclipses hp siphon needle, nozzle, air cap.I would recommend the kustom eclipse cs version due to larger volume cup as a starting bases gun.General rule on reduction for .5 mm set up, solvent based is 1:1 & thinner, with 25- 30 psi. constant airflow, NOT from a small pulsating airbrush compressor.The neo model is more of a kids airbrush for hobbies. I get it to work ok,but also have had skipping & response issues.Paint On! For now,out.
