- Were the problems in CBT2 caused corporate incompetence on Kuro's end, or something more insidious?
As a disclaimer, the claims made in this video are first and foremost a theory backed by observations from WuWa's development timeline and leaked contracts from Hoyoverse's end.
DO NOT BLAME THE VAs. Companies have almost all of the power within the United States when it comes to contract negotiations.
There are MANY Hoyoverse voice actors that have few other roles on their resume; some even have Hoyoverse games as their first ever appearance in the anime/gacha game scene. Despite what you may hear from CyYu/Alejandro Saab, it's probable that these less tenured VA's have less sway than he does in their contract negotiations with Hoyoverse. He has already confirmed every VA gets different contracts.
Pinning the blame on these individuals is awful. If my theory holds any weight, they are the victims in this circumstance.

I think you're reading way too far into this. The reason there's no overlap in the voice actors is because they sourced it to a dubbing studio in London instead of America.
See I would agree to your speculation if your whole channel wasn't built on WuWa content and Genshin hate, we are all forgetting something here the NDA document you showed was for content creators not Voice actors and nor their agency, what you basically said was 100% speculation based on your own bias against Mihoyo as a conpany, and also you also lied saying that WuWa has taken over US like bruh don't just show only WuWa interest spike also compare it to Genshin's interest chart that would actually show how good or bad it actually is. Also you say Mihoyo is a bully but you are again forgetting something Mihoyo has been in the space for longer 3 years to be exact and their overall games have all been high quality with good depth to their stories they have full right to act like they own this market, Kuro Games has to pull this off with the limitations they currently have otherwise they are done for also making main character cosplays and making them roam around the US to market the game is hella dumb since that increases the costs for Marketing more than anything

Concerning if true, but it's disingenuous to frame Kuro as the little guy when it has the backing of Tencent. Let's not pretend this isn't two giants slugging it out in one way or another.
Edit: Official English VAs for Genshin and HSR like Alejandro Saab and Sam Slade have spoken out to call this a ridiculous rumor, that Kuro simply opted for a UK dubbing studio. It's time to put this to bed.

In the U.S, it IS illegal. Rules like this are monopoly rules and those aren’t allowed. Even if China is the company it’s founded from, they have to abide by our laws if it involves a U.S resident.
It’s like while they forcefully changed the outfits on characters to ones THEY approved of, here in the U.S players still have the choice on which outfit they want their character to wear (Ex: Rosalina’s nun outfit that has fishnets, and one that’s more nun-like to where she’s pretty well covered with little to no skin showing)

I don't think this is true to that extend. I just watched a video of alejandro talking about ww and how he said he will play. Think he even tried the beta one.
VAs are contract bound by their studio.. there are actually anti intellectual laws in place preventing people from working with two competing companies at the same time. if a VA is actively contracted by HYV then HYV can use that as legal leverage to prevent them from acting in a competitor game... VA have access to script early so it can be considered as confidential knowledge and can be restricted.
But kept in mind that still no oroof to support this statement

How about the fact that Kuro has copied 3 hoyoverse games over the years, screwed over more than a hundred newly graduated employees by mass firing them for no reason last year, screwed over their employees by overworking them and screwed over their game by cutting corners and releasing it in a rush when it's clearly lacking.
Don't forget them doing damage control during Genshin Livestream by giving out free 5 star selector then add another 10 pulls after CN became outraged and review bomb the game

you can't make assumptions like that when you look at the other languages and notice specifically How many CN Va's Voice in Wuwa that also voice several characters across all of the Hoyo games. just the CN Female Rover alone demolishes your 'theory' since she voices 1 character from 3 hoyo games. you would have to assume this is ONLY the case for the EN cast which is still a huge stretch of the imagination. yeah it's a little odd they didn't use existing talents from PGR but if they wanted to swap to a studio that is close to China so they can communicate more I don't see the issue or drama there. you're trying very hard to make hoyo seem like this massive villain in the gacha landscape for some reason.
CN and JP have much stricter employment laws. US is completely at-will in almost all states. You can be fired or let go or dropped from a game for any non-discriminatory reason, or no reason at all.
The UK is also a country with strict employment laws that give a huge amount of autonomy to VAs.
And yes, this is only the case for the EN cast. How is it any stretch of the imagination when that is reality?
@@saintontas Realise your own hate bias towards specific group by trying to make conspiracy out of baseless claims. Developers dont just own their VA. Voice acting industry doesn't work like that. When it is apparent there are both CN and JP VA's works for both Kuro and Hoyo, which is their main region. There is no reason they are going after only EN side. It just as simple as where their recording agency take place.

Are you an emanator of Mythus? It seems so, the character in your thumbnail is voiced by Kaeya's voice in CN, and a lot of Genshin VAs are voicing Kuro game characters. Delete this already bruh it is getting embarrassing! Your video got debunked as soon as Cyno's VA spoke up, then Ayato's EN VA, and then Topaz EN VA also spoke up about being in PGR cast, many JP VAs of Genshin and Honkai are also involved in Wuthering Waves! Even Hoyoverse employees are openly supporting Wuthering Waves. but i get it, you want to be that certain shunned out bald drama loving ex hoyo cc so bad.

Not to sound like a HOYO bootlicker, but the whole VA stealing thing sounds at best speculation at worst conspiracy theory. Like I'm not saying it's impossible, but if it's true it's implications are so much worse than just a competing game doing bad on release. If the game is good, it's gonna gain an audience with time one way or another, but if these contract restrictions are real, it has serious implications for the livelihoods of VAs. It would mean that they either have to give up some really great roles in a large well known game or be restricted to a limited set of characters which may sometimes go months or even years without new content. It's the kind of predatory contract that I'm pretty sure should be illegal and something I would assume veteran VAs would know not to get trapped in. Maybe this is true, but this video has given basically no proof of it, just speculation and find a good story to sell to Hoyo haters. Even the CC contract seems to only restrict sponsored contracts and not normal content so the CC could still play the games on their own time (though I haven't read the entire contract so correct me if I'm wrong). There's def something sus with the VA situation, but painting Hoyo as the culprit with basically no proof feel like you are letting your biases color your views there

This really is weird.. and you know what - the difference between the companies of Kuro and Hoyoverse is really starting to show more now than ever.
Kuro are completely open to discussing and changing any problems the players have faced in just the beta. On the other hand, all I’ve heard is constant complaints that Hoyo do not care about their players wants. But then this contract comes out.. it’s even more obvious now they truly believe they’re on top and don’t want to lose this position.
That isn’t fair at all, new games should be given a chance by all means.

1- There wasn't any sabotage. That's a lie and it's diffamation. There's no proof of Sabotage happening (even less to English VAs which are by far the least popular of all 4 languages, so what's the point in sabotaging that). The video doesn't actually show any real proof. He just makes assumptions based on misreading a contract.
2- Both games can and will coexist. I want both of them to be at their best so that they can push each other to improve

I don't think it extends to VAs that much. Alejandro Saab (Cyno and Jing Yuan) has already played the cbt and announced on twitter that he's going to play the game, even stream it. Same for Andrew Russell (Clothar and Boothill).

I've tried to pre-regist through that website. They just collect your E-mail account(?) (not your password). I doubt scammer just want your email account. WuWa will be a decent game with good and fun combat that will be enjoyable for a couple of months. Most people that may stop Genshin to play it will most likely get back when Natlan releases, and they will probably jump to the next "Genshin Killer" after Genshin's 5.4 or 5.5 until 6.0 comes out.
The vast majority of Genshin's player base plays the game for the world, story, lore, and characters, and WuWa will never compete in any of these aspects (including writing). So, Genshin will never be affected in any major way by WuWa, that's just wishful thinking from the kids that cry about Genshin's popularity.

Hoyo are ruining other companies' games just so their own game can remain shit. Players spend so much on Genshin because it's one of a kind even though many people are unhappy with the horrible progression, rewards and general treatment of Genshin. Before all this I wanted WuWa to do well so Genshin can start improving too, but after what Hoyo are doing, I hope karma bites them in the ass and WuWa can do more damage to them than they are doing to Kuro.

@@Sato0730This is an industry common practice. You can be a CC without having a contract with the specific company. WuWa will make THE EXACT same points on their contract because that's what a contract is.
If someone wants to make a contract where they are paid by a company, you normally do this. I worked with that for some time on a education course-selling company. And while we paid CCs, they could not speak about competitors...

I'm of the mind that a company is about relationship, it's a collective gathering of people aimed at a vision, and companies that do well make their customers a priority, and companies that trend toward the extreme of the profit making spectrum tend to be the ones that are hated or disliked, Nijisanji for example. Any company or institution should not lose sight of its main purpose, if it's healthcare then that over profit, education etc. I know your view is more that of a realist and is a tad pessimistic but here's to hoping Kur0 will be the exception or unfortunately just as you describe, time will tell or else all we got are these money grubbing EA-esque corporatos.

For example wifi in my country is very expensive because there’s only one company that can provide fiber with the permission of government because of that just 100 gb at 100 mbps cost us 150$

The one thing that I like about KuroGames is that they truly listen to the players and are not afraid to rework or buff/adjust some characters instead of just replacing them with new characters. I played PGR but didn't keep at it cause I'm more of a pc player and like the open world aspects, so I was excited for WuWa. LET'S GO KUROGAMES
i mean, you can play PGR on PC port, but it's not gonna be as good as mobile, unfortunately. Lots of issues starting with soundless cutscenes.

There are quite a few VAs who voice in both games, Lee shares his EN VA with Ayato and Luna shares hers with Eula and they both did an amazing job on PGR, Lee Hyperreal and Luna Oblivion have some of the best EN voicing I've heard in any game.

Check out the Hoyoverse contracts given to CC. You'll see a clause that states that if another company sponsors them, Hoyoverse can deny the CCs from accepting the sponsorship.

Honestly for the past month i've seen many genshin content creators and some even have the word "Genshin" in their channel name, making wuthering waves content and most of the time is good. Also, with the release of arlecchino, the hype went back to genshin for like 2 weeks or so, now that the character is back to the shelf until the next "Hyped" character, wuthering waves is open to have as many changes as they want and increase the hype. Its an open field for WuWa

I dunno. This whole video sounds like conjecture based on that one leaked contract image that I honestly don't even believe is legit since that is almost certainly illegal. We can't just blame the big corp for some voice actors not taking roles on games yet. Hu Tao was not a character at release, that voice actress came in months later. Why do you expect all the big names to have roles day one? Surely a company wants to save those for characters down the road.
At the end of the day it’s the choice of those CC or VA to accept such a contract. From my understanding it would be like if Apple says that while working for them you cannot work for a competitor. Some people might not agree to be tied up while others will sign the contract.

2:36 Honestly, I'm rather glad Kuro are looking out for lesser known VAs. I don't want voice overs from the same 20 or so people. A fair number of the VA in Wuthering Waves and Kuro's previous game Punishing: Gray Raven are British and I think that's wonderful as it's rarely seen in the gacha/anime space.

If we read the contract, it says that CC should promptly inform Yomiholic if other game title intends to sponsor their content and they can reject the sponsorship that could be detrimental to ZZZ or the CC’s reputation. In other words, CC can still make videos about other Gatcha games like Wuwa as long as it is not a sponsored video.
Even if Kuro will not sponsor to cover their game, CC can still make video and earn from views, so I don’t think this will stop CC who signed that contract in creating Wuwa content.

Do we have any concrete proof that Hoyo is forcing VAs into non compete clauses? I don't think Hoyo can force them to sign a contract with a non compete and it is the VA's own decision to agree to these terms. Working with only Hoyo probably pays well enough that they are willing to sacrifice working for other competitors. Not to mention big time VAs usually have an agent or agency that helps them with contracts and should be reviewing these before they sign anything.
You've kinda answered your own question there, yes, hoyo can absolutely pay well enough to secure a non-compete agreement. And I honestly don't know why anyone would be surprised that a multi billion dollar company would do something like that..

I'm excited for wuthering waves to come out and will definitely give it a go. It just feels like the main argument of this video is very speculative. Like for the part with March 7th VA not continueing her role for one of the main leads. There are a lot of factors of just scheduling issues and VAs taking other work. It just seems like this video is condemning hoyo with very little hard evidence. I'm all for WuWa for competition in the gatcha market and I see a lot of big budget gatchas entering the space in the near future. It's a new wave of gatchas and i think it'll be good for the industry.

I don’t think losing CC is a big deal, we are in a age that, for the best and the worse, there is many, MANY peoples that are fighting to cover more or less any games to be the big ones, a douzen Cc staying on genshin just free a douzen place for more motivated CC to take the place, i want to ingage in withering wave personally, but the lack of time will let me do the minimum for most of the time, but i’m a fan of PGR so if the combats and upgrade system are good, might stick to it!

As much as I am appalled to learn of what HoYo are doing behind the scenes, I will never go out of my way and attack any of the talents and low to mid level staff of said company. I will still continue playing Honkai Star Rail, regardless but I will never condone such actions of the executives over at Hoyo HQ. Better yet, I will pledge my full support instead over to Kuro Games, because IMHO, the best kind of revenge is to be more successful in all aspects over the competition fair and square.
