Bro I finally found it. I saw this video YEARS AGO and learned about a lot of videogame stuff I knew nothing about. I'm glad I found this again
I remember watching this as a kid and thinking I was learning something risqué and forbidden
I’m playing ff6 right now and when I got to the Celes suicide part, I remembered that I saw that scene from a top 10 list years ago and spent a couple hours trying to find this video
I remembered the video and it took me a while to find it as I couldn’t remember the name.
the line "the world would be better off.... without snakes". gets me every time I cannot resist crying

I'm telling you man, the game taught and encouraged me to never smoke (which I never in my entire life smoked or do drugs and I never will), love my parents and my family (which deep down inside I do), never think about suicide as it is wrong, and of course, follow my dreams and never give up on them!
Damn, videos like this are a time capsule of UA-cam. The cheesy number interludes, the stock sound effects, the terrible mics, the lack of context when talking about these games and characters as if we should already know them, the collabs (actually collabs are still a big thing, even though they're usually pretty lame), the old in-jokes no one gets anymore. The format as a whole is sooooo early-mid 2010s.

It is potently nostalgic. I can't stand watching it, for some reason. The unnecessary recap of numbers 10-2 is also endearing to me. The way the countdown interlude for number 1 is also slightly different is so tropey and funny.
I would give anything to go back tbh

Let me add another tear jerker to the Metal Gear Solid 4 one. The voice actors in the Japanese version for Solid Snake and Big Boss are actual father and son, who at the time they were hired were estranged. Kojima hired them deliberately so they could reconcile, and they did.

I was lucky enough to play Mother 3 almost completely blind, all I knew is that it was similar to earthbound in gameplay and that the blond kid from SSB Brawl named Lucas was the main character and that he had a twin brother named Claus. I managed to avoid any and all spoilers for the game, and it destroyed me, Mother 3 is the only game that actually made me feel sadness. I didn't know about Hinawa, or Claus, or the ending. I almost fucking cried when they revealed Hinawa's fate, seriously. Mother 3 is all that is great about video games and I love it.
4- I almost died when I heard him say "I wanna die". It's extremely sad to hear a kid say that.
3- How did they go from Celes (crying from the sadness for her) to Vanille (crying in agony because of her).
2- I feel bad for Snake. I can't believe how touching his experiences are.
1- It's wierd such a kiddy-looking game managed to be so serious and sad.
I think one of the saddest endings from a video game was lee death from the walking dead because lee was a very important character and that he is father figure to Clementine and as she grows up to being a ba$$ and being the awesome person as it is .

I see people are bitching that mother 3 isn't a sad game. Play the game, and you'll understand, this is a game where you feel more as you play through the game, not just watching a few sad scenes from a video.

8 years ago, this video convinced me to try out Xenosaga at a time when I was in a dark place, which in turn re-kindled my love for video games as both a hobby and an art form.
I will always be grateful for that.
Finally found this SPECIFIC vid again since it burned Albedo and the cons of immortality into my head as a kid. As soon as I started going into Xenosaga this year, I lost my shit at seeing him while reading up on the games

Playing Mother 3 at age 13 made me reevaluate my life.
I actually teared up at the moment with Albedo. Even though I have no idea who he is or what game he's from.
I always enjoyed Albedo's character, from his insanity to his childhood. And in a way, everything he has ever done was all for his brother.

TMG Sorry, this is really late. Games that involve excessive violence or games that are focused on war just always rubbed me the wrong way. It just never seemed fun to me. I can't seem to enjoy any war-related games. Guess it makes me think of real-life wars sometimes.

I have to say, a game that should have been mentioned was Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky. It's so charged, as towards the end it is revealed that after you reverse time into its correct flow, you will disappear, since you were a time anomaly, and that all your work, and all your friendship will be entirely voided. As you reach the end, you begin to deteriorate, and then, right there, on the spot, you speak your only words of the game:
"It's been great knowing you. We had such fun together, and though I'll cease to exist, I'll always miss you."
And then, that's when I cried. It keeps getting crazier. The violin goes full ham, and out plays easily one of the most heartfelt scenes in gaming. Like, it's beautiful.
Please, stop. I played that while having breakfast in Hawaii, and became the center of attention for 1 hour. Just...

It's weird, when I played that game, that moment got me (in a rather younger age at the time.) very sad, I felt like there's no more to go with, (SPOILERS: such as never seeing Grovyle again.) but do you wanna know shat got me crying? The ending of the Igglybuff the Prodigy subplot. I don't know why, but THAT got me so depressed!
It's amazing to come back to this after having played so much more video games since I initially watched this, now I recognize so much more games and songs used in this

If I hadn't seen this video years ago,, my opinion on the Mother/Earthbound series would not have changed and I never would have played rhe games. Thanks to this video, I discovered an amazing series I had been missing out on.

Mother 3 is the best game I've ever played. With its beautiful soundtrack, quirky graphic style, and its dark depressing themes, this work of art becomes one of the most memorable, yet saddest games you can ever play.

Childhood tragedy and child suicide is more depressing and sad, so I highly disagree.
Mother 3 is definently sadder, especially with its innocent looks and its dark theme.

Mother 3 is the best game ever. Has the best mix of epic fights, tradegies/sadness, comedy, and realisticness... it makes me cry everytime i play it.. and the wooden "Mother 3" at the end.... I cry at the sight that its over....
Those last two should be made into movies, since the whole things are essentially sad.
Thanks for introducing me to the Mother series through this video, guys. I played through Earthbound before getting the ROM and patch for Mother 3. The very end of that one made me a little misty too.

I wish everyone in this video would shut up about The Walking Dead, inFamous 2, To the Moon, RedDead Redemption, Heavy Rain, _and_ The Last of Us. Don't get me wrong, they're good games, but this list was made in _2011._ The Walking Dead by Telltale wouldn't exist until _April of 2012,_ this list was written before inFamous 2, and Last of Us until _June of 2013._ Why can't they pay attention to the video's time code...? -_-
And to include any moment at all from the Mass Effect trilogy, the Halo series, the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon series, and *Heavy Rain* would require their _own_ top ten.

My god yes i watched a lest play of that and the last scene before the altered memory literally made me cry the music that was playing and how his memorys were played out
Metal Gear Solid 4 makes me cry every single time I play it. The scene between Big Boss and Solid Snake, Shadow Moses revisited, the microwave corridor, the fight between Liquid Ocelot and Snake, Naomi's death and a lot more.

Pokemon mystery dungeon blue rescue team made me cry. When everyone's celebrating that the worlds just been saved, the main character, having known beforehand that he was going to die, starts to slowly fade. The grief of everyone, especially your partner after you cease to exist, just made me tear up
The moments on this list made me depressed, but #4 is the ONLY one to actually have made me cry! :'(

Sun Ce's death is part of the beginning montage. Honestly, that and the end of the Wei campaign in DW7 are really the only legitimately sad moments in the entire DW series for me.
