One of the best things about the portal 2 ending is that earlier in the story, it is explained that portal surfaces are made of moon rocks.
So, when you see the moon, you remember what you have learnt, and feel kind of enlightened.

there's a theory that chell dies because in Greek mythology when you die you are sent to a large field with all of your friends and as you are sent there you are sung a heavenly song. She ascends out of the facility, gets a song sung to her by the turrets, and is sent to a field with her only friend, the companion cube

    • @halfaxle

@@shmerichshmayers3885 There are some minor references, most notably the oracle turret mentioning the tale of Prometheus which gets paralleled when you're thrown down into Old Aperture

I'm going to patch something that many people are confused about: The ending of Portal 2. It requires the ability to piece things together. A lot. Firstly, Caroline was put inside GLaDOS so she could control the facility after Cave's death, as well as programming, as stated by Wheatley, that requires her to perform human testing. After Wheatley is sent to space, as well as Core 1, GlaDOS deletes Caroline, and "sets Chell free". This was a trap however, as turrets, about to attack, were set up in the escape elevator. However, Caroline intervenes, controlling the turret forces to not attack Chell. Then comes Cara Mia Addio, or the turret opera. When translated from Latin (i think it's Latin) it mentions several things about Caroline referring Chell as her daughter. It is also mentioned that Caroline is married to Cave Johnson, so he's Chell's father. So when you put the pieces together... To the point, Valve pulls a Star Wars on us. The machine that tortured Chell, and countlessly attempts to kill her, is Chell's MOTHER, attacking her from the programming and against her will. By the way, to those wondering, GLaDOS stands for Genetic Lifeform and Disk Operating System, patching up "Genetic Lifeform" being Caroline, and Disk Operating System explaining the gathering of data disks every 5 tests in the Co-op mode.

    • @cyber8697
      @cyber8697 10 років тому

Kirbachu5 Nah, GLaDOS didn't even delete Caroline at all, she just faked it, so she put does turrets there to send a secret message to her to say goodbye and for her to stay away. Translate the song. (Its some Latin, I donno)

I learned the entirety of "Cara Mia Addio" (the song at the end of Portal 2) and sang it (in Italian) at my eighth grade talent show. Before I started, I kind of quipped about how "how could I even hope to do better than the beatbox kid? that was awesome. how do you people even do that?"
As I walked back as the crowd cheered and clapped, one of my fellow performers yelled, "THAT'S how!"
    Man, I love the limelight.

A few of my favorite endings are:
    Infamous 2: Good Ending
    Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
    Undertale, True Pacifist Ending
Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time/Darkness/Sky
    Super Paper Mario
Disgaea: Hour of Darkness Good Ending
    Sonic Adventure 2
Cry of Fear Good Ending (in a sad kind of way)

it's been implied that chell is actually Caroline's daughter. and Caroline, as we all know is the person GlaDos was before being immortalized in a computer. The song which was used as a goodbye to her pretty much is saying "goodbye my child" over and over again. Not to mention that GlaDos isn't that sympathetic towards any form of life, biological or otherwise, she just snuffs the life out of them mercilessly. Except for Chell once GlaDos gets her memories as Caroline back.

    • @NiGHTSIntoMemes

Not much more for me to say and so forth!
Anyway, a great job done on the countdown Mr. Scorcher! I do hope you have a wonderful week and God bless you! Thanks, come back and see me!
P.S, kudos to you for giving the endings Of Twilight Princess, MGS3, and the first Kingdom Hearts (All of which are awesome games with awesome endings) an honorable mention at the end of the video if so!

When a game makes you start to feel emotional even when you know nothing of the plot or haven't played any of the games, and you don't even see the whole thing in this video. I'll stand and say I've not played a single one of the Metar Gear Solid games, but this alone, and indeed the video in general, made me feel like I've missed out on some genuinely amazing stories. The best I've currently got is the ending of Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII, which is similar to MGS in that it rights all of the wrongs created in the previous two games, and leaves you feeling both heavy hearted and ultimately satisfied. I'd recommend it as a candidate for this list, seeing as this was made before it was out. Then again I haven't much experience with games whose stories are a staple part of the game, so this list has been a huge help in evaluating my 'games to pick up' list.

I think, the PMD Games should have been on this list. The ending of the first 2 ons is simple: If you fail to defeat the final boss, everyone dies. If you suceed to kill him, YOU DIE! ...... And after the credits you respawn.
BUT in Gates to infinity it's different. After you disappeared from the world you are playing as your friend. And the eeling when you see the message "You are now Controlling your friend" is just WTF.
...And after the next dungeon you respawn but still awesome.

I just finished Halo Reach. I knew what was coming, I had heard about it, and I was prepared for it. And I wasn't saddened by the ending too much. But one bit of imagery hit me -- The fact that 6 was fighting for his life against the elites, all piling up on him with swords, as more and more appear, showing how futile his efforts are and how helpless he is. I sat there, contemplated that feeling of utter hopelessness for a few seconds, a burst into tears.
Still can't wait till I get Halo 4.

the companion cube was glados' way of saying "it's going to be very lonely out there, so here, take this to keep you company." it's kind of like a final goodbye, like a mother giving her child a picture when he/she moves out of the house, it's a subtle way of showing that glados really does have a human side. (this is just a theory of course, but after that song she had the turrets sing this is not too far out there.)

This would allow you to not get flamed in the comments about your choices because you have to accurately and fully explain yourself. If someone has a problem with your choice, you have your data to back you up. Plus it means you get more watched videos.

I think I know what was with that strange part of Portal 2's ending. If you look closely, it's the Companion Cube. Maybe GLADoS didn't want to even be near it, because it reminds her of the main character, so she got rid of it.

the "Weird" cube thing is that GlaDos Gives you the weighted companion cube that you had to incinerate in the first game back, that's why its all burned looking, i think its becase GlaDos didnt want Chell to be alone, See she DOSE care about her test subjects :)

Okay, I have to give you a great deal of credit for the Master Chief "Life spent, or life wasted?" quote, because that is one of the greatest quotes from the Halo books. It also means you know the backstory of the Spartans, which I wish more people would... *glares at people who say Master Chief is an empty shallow character*

8:33 I GOT IT! if you remember in portal 1 you get the companion cube, which you then throw in an incinerator. well look at the cube. it has been really burnt and charred and even has pink hearts slightly visible. that cube IS the companion cube!

    Things to note,
1 : Loving the MLP references, they are appropriate, and hilarious.
2 : Portal 2's ending was amazing, and the ending song was beautiful, like a perfect opera to wrap it up, and it has alot of extra meaning if you translate the lyrics. They are in laitn to those who are wondering.

I never understood Big Boss' logic behind why they had to kill Zero.
"Zero becomes one, one becomes 10, 10 becomes 100, but then 100 becomes 0, but then it becomes 10 again, so you have to get rid of 0, and this guy's name is Zero, so yeah."
    WTF?

    (This is actually Liams brother)
I was hoping when you said "Best game in the franchise." that you would say that number 1 is The Legend of Spyro Dawn of the Dragon.
The reason why this game works so well is because Ignitus never died in vain. When he dies in the belt of fire and at the same time tossing Spyro and Cynder to the other side of the belt of fire so they could continue, he didn't die because he had no choice. He died because he wanted Spyro and Cynder to succeed. He knew that the world would be destroyed. (A forced Failure for Spyro because he's more concerned about saving the world than his own life)
After Spyro and Cynder defeat Malefore the spirit of Ignitus and the ancestors take Malefore into convexity, then The green chain is removed for good. Then when Ignitus tells Spyro that when a dragon dies, he offers hope for the future of other dragons. Then Spyro realizes that he needs to put the world back together. He tells Cynder to get out so that she would be safe. She refuses to leave and says that she's with him in a way that means she doesn't want to separate from him. Then as Spyro starts putting the world back together, she admits (Fully this time) that she loves him. The world is put back together, the spirit of Ignitus becomes the new Chronicler because of the beginning of the new age. Then he checks to see if Spyro and Cynder are still alive. They are. They are seen flying in the valley of Avalar free of their chain happy and together.
I have never seen a better happily ever after. And with dragons as the heroes of the story? Come hop in. This game is the best ever. It's got fun mechanics that you can use more than once, I highly recommend picking it up. Absolutely none of the cliches for this game sucked at all. All the boss finishers are quit time events which never happen during cutscenes and you're given enough time to react to them. You have to protect a catapult, if it sustains enough damage, you will be given a warning that you have to repair the catapult (Which you can do any time you want, and the repairs are pretty quick) by turning the screen red. The button mashers are very short. And you can choose to pause and skip any of the cutscenes including the end credits.
You are given hidden bonuses which you can receive again in chapter mode. None of the events are luck based. You can fly any time you want unlike the other games, and Spyro is a lot more matured, and more like a caring hero than a character who says one cheesy line after the other. And need I say more? You should check out the game for yourself. It is a really awesome title as well. I highly recommend picking it up, and sorry for the extended comment. But you'll find it was worth the while. Highly animated, and well developed. But I agree with most of the examples on your list (Even though I never play any of those games).
Man... this comment is so long. I hereby pronounce that I DON'T regret typing it down.
    HAHA!
Writing is my life after all. I plan to be a writer. If one of my books is going to be given a game version, I'll personally make sure they get the cliches right. Especcially the water levels where you get a special suit that allows you to breath under water as well as swim really fast. (or give the enemies the restricted movement policy. Ee Hee Hee!

Quite frankly, you just proved that there *IS* no text limit for youtube comments anymore. I could write a fanfiction oneshot here and probably get away with it.
*Speaking of Legend of Spyro* They seriously could do better with the script. Some of the stuff sounded either cheesy, complicated, confusing, all of the above, and the rare few that I considered were good to use at the current situation during the cutscenes. Sometimes, the actors for the characters sounded like they couldn't even give a crap about what they were saying and just threw it out there. Its like watching a movie that's really good, except the actors were doing a poor job at acting.

You know, I just realized something. Listen to the lyrics of "Want You Gone" again. "You want your freedom? Take it/That's what I'm counting on" Does this mean that with Chell no longer in Aperture complex, GLaDOS will enact some sort of evil plan that would put the world in jeopardy, with ATLAS and P-body performing trials of that plan? And what of Caroline? Was she really deleted? Is her original self GLaDOS's true weakness? So many questions...

I cried when Wheatley went into space, and as the end went, I cried even more. Since Wheatley was my favourite character, even when -insert HUGE spoiler here-, I still loved him. So when he was banished into space, I was in tears. After that, when GLaDOS lets you go, I cried because I was so happy. Ending credits play, and I was a blubbering mess.

Ok in the middle of portal 1 you got a companion cube, but at the end of the level you had to incinerate it because you weren't allowed to keep it. At the end of portal 2 as you're about to walk away the door slams shut, you turn around, arter a few seconds of some weird clicking in the little shack that is aperature, the door opens and your companion cube rolls out. I can't believe you missed that that was THE MOMENT of portal 2. I think you actually need to play the original portal, HONESTLY!

You hear your team and your friends, reminding you of the world in danger, you are healed slightly, hit again, healed, and then, you dodge nyx, healed to full, and when nyx tries to attack again, your immune.... You see the hp cost of the only spell... Its all your health.... You cast it, giving your life for the world.
