Peak protagonists, peak antagonists, peak plot twists, peak parallels, peak mysteries, peak foreshadowing, peak tragedy, peak fiction! Also love how blurred the line of good and evil is in this series. Its great that you gave the series a second chance btw.
I agree!! A fantastic series all around! And 100% agree about the skewed line between good and evil. It makes for interesting character developments throughout the series
@@ThatMangaDudethe lore has become so intricate, it has made DGM my fav shonen of all time. I used to enjoy DGM when I discovered it as a teen but I never would’ve imagined it becoming so complex.
54:55 I don’t actually think tikki is that evil 🙈 he seems to care about the two men and that one kid he hangs around with, and when he learns about Allen‘s sword being able to kill the Noah in him he doesn’t fight it (I think he even stops Road from interfering). From the Noah’s he always seemed like he wasn’t as into the mission at least in my opinion :D Great video btw!
I can see that! I don’t necessarily agree but I do think that most of the Noah are not purely evil (even the Earl is surprising me in the latest chapters) but I definitely still think Tyki is pretty evil haha, and thank you so much!! This was definitely a passion project for me!
I have been following this series since 2010-2011 when I saw the anime airing on tv. Later I re-discovered it through the manga and it has been my all-time favourite for all these years. Pity it’s so underrated.
It was fun to listen to this review DGM being my favorite animanga since years ahah There are so much to talk about, I can’t wait to learn more about Past Allen, the Bookman Jr we saw in the last chapter and how Allen managed to become a child 35 years ago + acquire an innocence ?? what happened exactly with Nea, how much did Apocry messed up with his memories… and the mystery about the pillar Road talked about ? What happened and how is the architecture so modern ? Still so many questions, the mysteries in this series are amazing !
-Important Lore Spoilers people planning to get into DGM (please avoid) Theres reason to believe that in D.Gray-Man, the distant past is also the distant future. They’re in a time paradox/loop where some of the old tech managed to survive. Thats why despite the fact that its set in the 19th century you have advanced robots like akuma, no.65 from the science division, Sir Komulin and other advanced technology like the Noah’s Ark. We also know that Allen was deemed “the destroyer of time” which could be referring to the Millennium Earl as a millennium is a measurement of time but it could also be a literal meaning. When Road talks about the Pillar (a catastrophe that happened in the past) we see very modern day architecture such as sky scrapers being obliterated. Furthermore in the early chapters when Komui is explaining to Allen about the God crystal cube (source of all innocence) if you zoom in to the text its from a modern newspaper… Coincidence? I think not! One More thing, Hoshino mentions that this is set in “fictonal” 19th century not once but twice in the beginning, its not because the readers are young and impressionable but it may be foreshadowing.
Definitely fascinating lore!! Feels like something’s going on (wonder if we’ll get a return to the “past” by the main protags other than through flashbacks)
Commenting here to come back after I read it myself haha. I read 5 volumes and really enjoyed it so far. Makes me wonder how popular it would be today if it didn't go on hiatus :')
Awesome! Definitely keep on reading because it’s a great time! And I definitely agree, I mentioned it sparingly in the video but why I didn’t care too much for it originally was that we had volumes coming out pretty often until we had caught up to pre-hiatus. At this point, I think there’s only been 4-5 volumes released over the span of 11 years??
Mana and nea are twins who are destined to never be together. One is good and the other is bad. The reason Allan has crown clown (the 14th) is because in my eyes, the millennium earl is a clown. The other half of the millennium Earl is also a clown. Nea is part of Allan and Mana is the millennium Earl. I predict that the end of the story, whenever it does come ends in a stalemate where they both a.k.a. Allan and the Earl either end each other or forgive each other and end the war and become one. Anyone who reads this should be able to piece this part together the Earl killed his twin brother, after regretting it, he wanted to bring him back, but he could not. now trying to fix his problem and bring people back from the dead he drove himself into madness becoming the earl.
DGM is amazing. It's upsetting how people have forgotten about it. But it's also upsetting how we get like 4 chapters a year... I bet she's not even gonna finish it. How you do not finish something in 20 years.

The Millennium Earl = Adam
Nea & Mana = Cain & Abel
Caterina Eve Campbell = Eve
Feel you on the zombie arc, it’s super out of place 😅 I thought it was supposed to be a breather between the heavy arcs

A demon/devil killing story that is pretty much as gothic if not more than Bloodborne, whats not to love?
Truly!

I'm on vol 9 currently and I'm enjoying it, but not as much as I expected to tbh
It happens! I've had series like that for sure
My favorite Shonen, along with Hunter x Hunter
Awesome! 🔥
Where did you get all the volumes from ?
I’ve been buying them since they came out so mostly Borders (no longer around) and Barnes N Noble

Don't know! But typically it's health related so I'm just hoping the artist is doing ok tbh
