    One final observation: I think, Sarah, that at the heart of it, you like to share, explain and enlighten. In other words, teach. It’s just who you are. And like Leonard Bernstein, Neil deGrasse Tyson and Julia Child, you will always be teaching. Today it’s typewriters on UA-cam and, of course, your new career in academia, but make no mistake, at the end of the day, you will always be a teacher. What a wonderful life to look forward to, both for you and those lucky enough to know you!

    I hit the "like" button on all your videos and enjoy them tremendously because I know you put a lot of yourself into every single one of them. Please ignore the trolls as much as possible and know that you have a supportive community of over seven thousand subscribers who value your contribution to our shared hobby. Also, did you ever find the answer to your question about the Super vs. Silent Super? If not, it's a Canadian thing. Smith-Corona manufactured the 5 series also in Canada, but did not market the top end version as the Silent-Super, as it was known in the US, in Canada but as the Super. They are identical machines, but I think there might be the slightest bit of difference in the soundproofing felt coverage under the ribbon cover. From what I've seen, there is slightly more felt liner in the Silent-Super than under the hood of the Super.

    Thank you for all that you do! I am 74 years old, and IMHO, beautiful ladies do not need to wear makeup. I myself have been in a few (very few) stage productions in my lifetime, and I have never liked having to wear makeup when I was on stage.
    I always enjoy your videos concerning typewriters, as I also have that addiction, along with shopping antique shops, thrift stores, estate sales, flea markets, and garage sales. Going along with your on your antique & thrift shop expeditions here on you tube is always a joy for me, and it is almost as good as if I were with you in person.
    My wife of 53 years puts up with my addictions, but I have come to this point in my life, and I have realized that its time to start letting go of some of my 'collections'.

    Aww, nice kitty! :D ok, the 5-Series Super is the precursor to the Silent Super - it introduced the "keyset tab" feature, and only ran in the US for a couple years before it was upgraded to the "Silent Super" by adding the extra soundproofing from the "Silent" model.The "Super" and "Silent Super" share the same serial prefix "5T" and run in the same series. It is notable that the "Super" model ran much longer in Canadian manufacture, and so you'll find them more often up north - and often in unique color schemes like black with grey keys. - - I'll also say it's good to think of your channel as building holistic long-term content rather than worry about episodic popularity. Prolly much better on your psyche and certainly fosters better content that helps more people. I can say this from the perspective of someone that just builds long-term content that is meant to be taken as a sort of library of useful information. Not a lot of adrenaline spikes, but you know that what you've done helps lots of people every day. Keep up the excellent work on whatever schedule suits you best (:

    I agree that your channel is a total resource and also think you shouldn’t feel too pushed by the analytics. As someone who recently got into collecting typewriters, your channel was the first place I landed for info, and it continues to be a great resource for me. I also enjoy your reviews, opinions and antique excursions. I’m jealous of the deals you snag in your area. Anyways, feel free to make content at your own pace. The audience is always there. Cheers!

    I had always been interested in typewriters, but seeing Wednesday Addams write her book on a typewriter in the Wednesday series sold me. I started my research and came across your channel which helped me learn SO much, then about a week after subscribing I found my first typewriter. Now a year later, I have 9 typewriters in my personal collection, 13 overall. I’ve been watching your channel since then, both new and old videos. I appreciate your channel and especially this video ❤️

I also very much enjoy your Thrifting videos and anything else you do on your channel. your channel is amazing as are you! Thanks for doing what you’re doing. And welcome to the community of cat mamas!❤

    I hope that everything is going well for you. I personally don't always watch the newest videos you post just because of time, interest and attention span. I do however still enjoy your content and hope that you keep on making videos. Even just shorter videos, and I always encourage people to prioritize their mental health.

    What others have said! You’re a delight, and sometimes the highlight of my weekend is the 15 minutes on Saturday mornings spent quietly watching That Typewriter Girl.
    Of course, there’s no need for you to share what’s happening “behind the scenes” with us; I feel that’s more part of your personal, private world, but hey, it’s so nice that you invite us in, and I imagine it’s rather therapeutic for you, and, well, for us, too. So yes, Sarah, I think you have good instincts, and I hope you continue to follow them. We enjoy your down-to-earthiness and your warm, gentle humor. And though you may think everything is always madly out of control, please know that there’s an underlying, essential quietness about you and your space which we find quite appealing. Many a Saturday morning, before I even get up, I find myself thinking “let’s visit Sarah”.
    (And hey, does anyone know where their journey will take them? I don’t think so. I wouldn’t be surprised if, ten years from now, I’m watching you in “More Coffee?,” “The Beauty of Toasters,” or “Just My Air Compressor”.)
    😉

    I appreciate your integrity with content (making videos that are useful and entertaining and high quality). Also with keeping ads as unobtrusive as possible. You tube pushes people into making endless repetitive videos, just so they can get their initial hits. I have come "late" to your channel, so I am in that demographic of watching your old videos. Your channel has been so helpful to me. Also fun! HOWEVER, if you ever want to stop, or slow down more, I vote you do that. You tube should not rule your life.

    I have loved your videos, all of them, even the typewriter crafts cardboard typewriter…and I love the thrift trips and the nail polish videos. You are a great teacher because you make everything fascinating. I think I found your channel in 2023 and have “caught up” watching all of the videos. I think that you are genius level and humorous also. My heart pained when you talked about your struggles in the past year. You have to do what’s best for you and I’m so glad that you have shared your knowledge and typewriter journey with us, the viewers this far.

    Thank you for the update and the introspective. I'm sorry to hear about the down times and the brush with Internet trolls (who I think are just unhappy people who only feel marginally better about themselves when they think they've made others feel less happy than they do), but happy to hear that you're in a more comfortable vibe now. And don't worry about the makeup-less look. You look terrific. If anything, I think you look more professional without it. But it doesn't matter what I think, or what anyone else thinks. Be comfortable in your own skin, and your confidence will continue to shine through in your videos. Your content is dynamite and your presentation is superb, and that's what keeps us coming back for more.

    Hey Sarah, I have been binge watching your videos lately, and would like to humbly request that when you do "type test" videos could you show us the paper with the view of the finished sentence you typed? Part of getting to know a machine is seeing what the typeface actually looks like on the page. Love your vids!!♥️

    • @JustMyTypewriter
      @JustMyTypewriter  9 місяців тому +1

      I do have some videos containing those sorts of shots! Try the type test videos or the ones where I discuss typefaces like Typefaces 101

    • @mrs.blennerhassit92
      @mrs.blennerhassit92 9 місяців тому

      Yeah, some, but any vid that has "type test" in the title should also give us a peek at the type. I have a collection of typewriters (only 6 so far) and I'm interested in expanding my collection to include machines with different typeface (like Pica). I have a Torpedo 18b that types in cursive, and I'm dying to land a Hermes 3000 that types in cursive... so I'm not just being a picky nudnick. I'm really interested in the typeface of different machines! You are one of my favorite typewriter peeps, so please take this as a request and not a criticism 8-) Now that I think of it, maybe you could take one piece of paper, type a line on it with every machine in your collection, including the model of the machine, and put it in a video! @@JustMyTypewriter

    Good vid, albeit different. Interesting all the same. Keep up the good work! Re subject matter, you're a typewriter person, so I presume your followers aren't too fussed about the content being precisely on mark. Agree, bi-weekly (or even monthly) vids probably more manageable & less stressful. Your work is appreciated by many. In relation to the trolls, 'Choose not to be harmed and you won't feel harmed.
