is not a soulslike but instead its a roguelike, its weird since we always expect the same kind of games from this studio right? we just assume its going to be a soulslike, and while it may play like one it still will have another goal so lets hope they are cooking something cool, at the very least is quite exciting to see this studio making something different from the usual
@Buddy3acid i was more saying that the combat will be of elden ring but it'll be a different style of game. Like how Elden Ring is an open world game. This will be something different
@@adamhunter4120 in an interview with the director he was asked about that and exclusivities and he responded that he has no idea how that is going, they are still in talks about the company it seems, but this project has nothing to do with that, yet
This game is an alternate universe from the main series, with different plot after the shattering. From what we can see, we can assume thay the Nox managed to succeed in this timeline and usurp Marika with a Lord of Night. This has caused the problems we see in game, the changing terrain, and the familiar bosses. Some bosses could be mimics or memories of these bosses taken from their native worlds ala Aldrich in DS3 gaining movesets when he never met the characters related to them. This could be even more likely if the lord of night has damaged the Elden Ring and the order has broken so badly that it's causing these anachronisms.
I think this is pretty cool. This is the first game Ishizaki has directed, so it will be a good way for him to wet his teeth directing a video game. It's definitely an interesting spin on the Soulsborne formula. I usually don't play games like this, so I'm excited to expand my horizons. I appreciate how blatant they are about the fact that they're putting bosses from the previous games into Nightreign. "Hell yeah, we're reusing assets, here's Nameless King from DS3". I think it's exciting to fight returning bosses from previous games in a new combat system. Hopefully bosses like Freya and Centipede Demon will be revamped into being good bosses (Yes, they're both in Nightreign). Really, I don't mind the reuse at all because it will all be recontextualized by the new mobility/combat/progression. While I do want FromSoftware to make entirely new stuff, I think this is original enough for a side project, especially when it's Ishizaki's first outing. I doubt this is taking a large amount of dev time/resources anyway, so I'm sure there's going to be something completely new coming soon, given how much FromSoftware has upscaled. I just hope they allow up to play in duos, instead of just solo or trios.
I’m fine with the reused bosses as long as this game is not canon to the lore of the Elden Ring base game (which it sounds like it isn’t based on this interview).
@@jameslough6329 That is exactly the case. From IGN's interview with Ishizaki: "We'd like fans to think of Nightreign as an Elden Ring spin-off, first and foremost. The story is completely separate and parallel to the world of Elden Ring’s. If you had to tie it in some way, we had the events of the shattering in the original game. After the events of the shattering, this is a completely separate branch of the Elden Ring story. We understand that there's a great deal of emotional attachment to the story of Elden Ring that a lot of the fans have, so we didn't want to encroach on that too much. We wanted it to coexist with the existing story. And for players both familiar and new to enjoy both of these stories separately."
@Jonzki Yes. That would be amazing. Fume Knight especially is practically a proto-DS3 boss already. I would love to fight a faster version with a few new tricks in ER.

why do fromsoft fans think sony will go live service ? all there most popuar ips are not live service, i can only think of concord and helldrivers that are
That’s what I’ve been saying, people act like Sony only have live service stuff in fact they don’t have that many obviously concord was a bad game but I hate that people don’t just move on and forget the rest of their catalog of games most of it being single player.
Really exciting. I wish they would have used anything but Elden Ring because I'm fatigued with Elden Ring, but a rouge like mixed with Souls is my dream.
Btw, the game was made under a different director (not Miyazaki), he himself (this new director) admitted in an interview that it was a complete experiment that Miyazaki gave him the green light for, so i hope this experiment will be successful!
The gameplay should be very fun. Ishizaki was one of the lead game designers on DS3 and Bloodborne so he has plenty of first hand experience designing these types of games
It's the same history of the lands between but the post shattering war story is different, like an alternate world. So it won't be Canon with the base game modern day story
Why are people so opposed to sony buying out fromsoft when they have a track record for some of the best single player ips each year? Is it just a trend to hate on big companies when not all of them are that bad? Only concord comes to mind as a horrible game from sony recently. Even helldivers which is a liver service game is great
