Happy New Year from 👉West Tennessee 👈✌
Putting a solar panels by trees are a big mistake. Tree falls and there goes your solar.
I might have missed an episode or two, but it occurred to me as you talked about growing and harvesting your own food, it occurred to me that your log cabin you couldn't live in, might serve as a great pantry storage for home canned goods and maybe you could even set up your whole food preservation operation in there. Canning, freeze drying, and dehydrating. So many options to enhance your food security. It would likely need some heating and a/c as preserved food should have a cooler, darker place. But it doesn't have to be too extreme. That could be super helpful for you over the long run!
Thank you :) That is actually something we have talked about and have considered! It may be a perfect building for it. Once we have the power set up in there we will have a better idea of what it will be. Right now it is a storage shed haha
Get that service engine light checked out soon y'all too far out in the middle of nowhere to break
Are you sure you want your array & battery stowage so far from the 'homes' ...lotsa extra wires & PVC to bury.... ? Just a thought 🤔 🕊️
Oh my goodness, I love your blogs coming from someone who spent the biggest majority of her life in Tennessee. It makes my heart skip a beat. I love Tennessee, and every since my grandmother and aunt passed, I don't get to visit anymore and your blogs gives me a glimpse also I get to enjoy your wonderful highly exuberant selfs I love seeing you two it just makes my day keep it up.
GREAT JOB GUYS ,JUST WANTED TO SAY BE VERY CAREFUL USEING THE WINCH THAT THE STRAP OR CABLE DOSENT BREAK OR SLIP OFF THE TENSION COULD REALLY HURT YOU OR THE ANIMALS HAVE FUN STAY SAFE STAY WARM.
Invest in some 3/8 cable with hooks on each end, 50' to 100' long (your choice since you know what would work for you) and a snatch block. You'll double the pulling capacity of your winch or ATV.
Have you ever seen or read the Foxfire collection for homesteading in Tennessee or Appalachia you will find great great knowledge and information
Impressive dog training skills!
Thank you :) We work hard!
Wow! The puppy training looks great! It is well worth it. Thanks for another great video. You've got me motivated to go get stuff done.
Thanks Jeff :) Sometimes thing aren't glamours but you just got to get it done! Stetsons training is coming along great, we are having fun with it!

Good on you Cass for taking care of a tricky back. Nothing worse than being laid up with a spasming, sore back!
Wishing you two a Happy New Year. 🎉

Solar will mean so much!! I'm a huge fan of solar power. I love watching your guys' videos cause Cass just radiates warmth and positivity. 😊 You two are so fun to watch.
Happy New Year, wishing you a productive year.
Happy New Year, let’s roll in 2024 😎👌🎉
Hey you two TN has some fucked up laws I have lived here all my life I'm 58 I'm happy for you all.i live in Rockwood Tennessee and I'm happy to be your Tennessee neighbor
Just letting that shed sit there being used for nothing but storage would have me drawing up some kind of petition to get TN's intrusive housing laws changed! That's just stupid...YOU are in charge of your family's safety, not the state.
Happy New Year 🎉🎉🎉❤
I love what you are doing! I have been dreaming of living self-sufficient for several years now. What counties in Tennessee allow you to live in an RV while you build your home and allow you to build whatever you want?
I didn't realize it got that cold in TN.. In Maine it was 32 today and we was laughing today while working out side in tshirts 1 month ago we was freezing at 50..
Buy yourself an ereader. Kobo has one for under $60. Then get a library card from the local library, and you can check out books with your ereader. You never have to buy a book again and you can check out your books and return them when you are finished from right there at home I do that all the time. I love your videos and wish you well in accomplishing all the goals you set.
HAPPY NEW YEAR you two cuties pies . GO GO GO GO GO !
Happy new year 🎈
Happy New Year
Too live off grid independently is nice. I also have some land but I can't live on it. I used as camping camp and hunting for relaxation. What I wonder is that when we still young and have energy to do thing ourselves we want to live alone of civilization to sustain ourselves and don't like to work in the job. But what is when we are old and couldn't do anything. We couldn't get social security and medical. When we get old, we will need a lot medical attention and it cost a lot. We couldn't afford to handle the cost. I would like to work until I retired to move out to live off Grib so I should still have the income and money to cover me.
Look forward to seeing your videos. You two are a great couple those dogs are so lucky.
Happy new year guys!!✌️❤️🍻
New subscriber we close to the Chattanooga area enjoyed watching
I'm born n raised in the west where we have used root cellars for food storage. Are those options in warmer states like Tennessee?
Love following your adventures! Be careful with freezing temps >3 hrs or so (Ask me how I know!) and frozen waterlines!! I didn't have busted lines, but water pump wouldn't pump. Had to wait to thaw!
And I am now stationary in my 26ft TT at 5500ft elevation upper AZ. Used double bubble foil for insulation and upcycled metal to skirt.
17:37 Truck with the engine light on... I can SO relate.
Look you two don't tell the state that your going to live in it tell the state it's a temp place untill you build your home then get a temp ele.pole put in and leave it at that
Cass, were you ever in South Florida as a kid? You remind me SO much of someone I used to hang out with when I was like 12 years old, makes me miss her so much!!
Carrots will grow in the winter just cover them good
Ibuprofen works great for back pain!
Happy New years guys! Love you both and I hope that Cass feels better Godspeed!
Go to off grud with doug and Stacy and learn about fermenting your veggies they can last 6 to 12 months without refrigeration.
Thanks for the knowledge! We love learning about fermenting
Speaking of Tennessee... Swifty?
Happy New Year 🎆 love your channel
Is it my computer or your camera? Video is blurry
you need to pile up brush and wood on the sides of those gate posts.
I ran into your UA-cam channel looking for homesteading. I am encouraged by your challenge to live in a simpler way in TN. I know now that I don't have to move to Arizona, Oregon, OR Alaska, to find that simpler life. I am excited about your adventures. AND I appreciate the correct pronunciation of Chattanooga (lived here for 40 years now) I am a fan for now on!! And Happy 2024🎉!
best wishes ya have good harts.
Love your little puppy he is so sweet.
Love to watch y'all work together love to
See inside your 5 wheel see the remodel.
Happy New Year Matt + Cass 2024
How many acres do you have
19th from NC 👊🏻💪🏻
Awesome video God Bless you and your family
You guys are awesome, ,
GL and Happy New Year
Happy New Year 🎊🎆!!!
The solar panel structure turned out well. I would make one suggestion to box in the ends with more lumber for strength from the wind and to prevent warpage from the sun.
HAPPY NEW YEARS
You guys rock!
Happy new year!
I love your videos
👍🐕
Happy New Year Matt & Cass and family you guys are great !!!
Happy New Year Matt & Cass!
Wait till a real TN winter hits and it dips to -25 below 0.
They're from New York state. They can probably handle it. Lol.
I've never seen it get to -25 here in Tennessee (unless it is with a wind chill maybe). In 2022 we did dip below zero for about three days straight though. The hardware stores ran out pipe fittings and plumbing parts that broke.
@@jeffer2350 Jan 1985 Nashville was -17 higher elevations like the cumberland plateau had -20 to -25 Temps. It was miserable and dangerous I hope I never see it again.
@@chrishelms3298 Good point made. I didn't even think about the high elevations. I live in hilly terrain but nothing like that. Its ironic that I didn't think of it though. I just visited my brother in Hiawassee, GA and visited some high elevations there. It was extremely windy. I could imagine it being more bitter.
I've actually only been in Tennessee for four years so I suppose there are some rougher years.
@@jeffer2350- I agree! I do remember it was either January or Febraury 2001 when it did not get above freezing for three straight weeks in M'Boro. 🥶
Awesome video guys I just love waking up with you on sundays feeding my dogs and having my morning coffee. Training that sweet pup will be the best gift you can give yourself. And if ever run out of reading material just let me know...I've written a book and am working on the second one to go with it now but no one but me has read it. I would love to send it to you Cass because I think you would love the adventure that is to be had by the main characters. Just a thought if your interested. Your friend in Arizona, Helen
