One product she forgot to mention: oil based products! You can’t mix these with a water based or silicone based products, either. Oil based foundations, primers, etc.- they aren’t as popular as the silicone or water based ones. They do still exist! I wonder why other gurus aren’t talking about the hazards of mixing these bases? 🫤😖

silicone is an emollient as are oils so they do mix quite well together. + liquid silicone has a oil like feel

@@habibaiqbal9012 - That’s good to know! It’s been at least ten years since- maybe longer since I’ve had an oil based makeup product. Maybe, even more like 20 years ago..? Back then, I didn’t have a clue what a primer was! Thanks for the info! 🙏❤️

If someone had drier skin, would the type of product base you use make a difference? Like should I be shopping for water based vs silicone base?

If you have dry skin make sure to moisturize your skin as the first step. If you have dry skin using water base foundation would be a good idea so you can avoid powdering your face to prevent cakiness.

I think you should use oil based products

If you have flakey dry skin I wouldn’t recommend silicone products, I would invest in oil based products to help hydrate your skin. Water based are fine too as long as you moisturize and prep your skin very well before applying makeup

But Armani Luminous Silk is silicone based. It has cyclopentasiloxane as it’s second ingredient.

That ingredient evaporates quickly when you apply to your skin. Dimethicone is usually the one you need to check

@@FS-bu1ki I just purchased NARS long wear as well and dislike it so far. I always prep my skin with a nourishing spray and a moisturizer. I have very dry skin and the NARS long wear always goes on great, but within an hour after it dries down, my face is flaky and SO dry. I've tried using products like Caudalie face spray to moisturize my skin but my skin still stays super thirsty throughout the day. I haven't hacked my skin needs yet and it's incredibly frustrating.

is it about foundation and primer or all products? like silicone spf + silcione foundation + silicone powder...? or could I use a warterbased foundation with a silicone based spf? (I never use primer at all)

The first choice is the correct. Use silicone products with each others or the makeup will separate and be cakey

What spf would you recommend for a water based routine? I’ve tried the kosas silicone free and it still makes my nars light reflecting foundation pill.

Try this one, it’s light weight and makes skin look like glass skin.
