Back when I played, my main was a gnome mage. I just didn't really talk alot and did my job in raids. I could smell the animosity in every raid group. I enjoyed it immensely.

I knew a woman in Classic that would level a brand spanking new Mage every week, and upon reaching 60 would promptly delete it and make a new one. Some people just have no psyche left.

My god man. Edit: I’d assume** That’s like levelling every single stat in Skyrim and then doing every single non-miscellaneous quest in the game and then doing it again until your slots are full. And then once more.
If you’ve ever tried maxing every stat in Skyrim using exploits, you’ll know that archery alone takes nearly a weeks worth of hours doing the exact same thing over and over and over again pressing one button all day for 140 hours. Ifs goddamn boring and tiring.

I don't get it either. I have every class on retail at max level and a decent bunch in the mid 30-40s of different classes on classic but I will never understand why you would level the same class twice (outside of rerolling another server or faction). Jokes on me though, because now that I have everything at max level, I also never feel like leveling an alt ever again outside of twinking.

Yes so the other mana classes can bitch on the mages for not giving them arcane intellect.
He doesn't mention the best part of mage pvp. In big fights you can't be mass targeted. In any sort of a semi even fight between two groups you get to sit there and blast away because they can't target you. If they do you simply iceblock and then they have to pick a new target but that takes time and it's too late. If they stop attacking you cancel iceblock and blast them some more. If they don't you sit there in your block and watch them all die. Rogues aren't a problem in group fights. There is enough CC to deal with them. Even if they garrote me the warlock is going to fear them.
Most rogues would kidney shot a mage and then be surprised that it didn't work.

My favorite part of being a warrior was watching rogues blow their whole rotation on you, see how much hp you had left, and then just vanish and leave.
My only time when my hp made me laugh was when i came back to the game after long absens.
I left when firs expansion was introduced and came back half year later.
Few minutes into the game i was empting my bag in some shop near AH in Stormwind and rogue ambushed me.
The guy was lvl 70 and he was attacking lvl 60 priest, most likely expecting very easy prey. But somehow he failed and he clearly got no idea why.
So i smilled to myself and invented a plan to give him another chance and this time be ready for his attack.
I came back to the exact same vendor and was standing in the exact same place... but this time i was waiting for him.
When he started his rotation i instantly started to walk into him to lower his dps as much as posible and gain some time to pland Shadow Word: Pain on him. He ressisted few times but finaly i managed to plant this dot on him and then by moving closer to the guards he got agro from them and he did not notice what i did to him.
So he wasted vanish and 2 seconds later he was very surprised when my Shadow word: Pain tick kicked him out of the stealth and one second later stormwind guards was finishing him... how the poor bastard could know that he is attacking a mad man that is in pvp gear and pvp discipline build even when he is leveling... i was in cloth but with more physical dmg reduction than warrior in plate and almost twice as much hp as typical priest on that level... 🤣

Bojangles was an absolute nightmare lol and I was horde on that server.. dude would drag mobs into my aoe farm to overwhelm me so he could get the leather to himself..

I played a mage in TBC because of those videos
I played both Mage and Rogue in TBC like... all freakin day. 10,000 hours of Mage is hilarious and almost exactly how my journey went from Pint to his foe. The intereactions between Mage and Rogue back then = the stuff of legends. I don't normally get into PvP. I hated it about halfway into Wrath when everyone had a friggin CC ability. But TBC BG's were amazing, and the open PvP going on especially around Stranglethorn... that was some of the most fun i ever had in a game.
I had to re-read your comment to find the "I played rogue" and I knew to look for it right when I saw "everyone had a friggin CC ability" talk about an unstoppable duo: TBC Rogues complaining about CC and irony. Name a more iconic duo. xD
Mage in a nutshell :
Big PVE damage - check.
Good at PVP - check.
Quality of life utilities - check.

TBC Druid was my first max lvl character. Kept being persuaded to change toons when I was soloing zones. I was hooked and geared from tokens til I had most the Shat gear then parked at Kara til I got an invite.
Can relate. When I left I had a max level, top raid geared mage on both factions. Belf and Velf, obviously. Only time I ever enjoyed PvP was when I was ridiculously well geared with raid stuff and that actually translated to PvP decently enough. So like 8 years ago or something. I would just sit back and try and look harmless then nuke the shit out of some fool when he was distracted. My favorite thing was to spellsteal a Pally that had just fully buffed himself up and popped the angel wings, then one shot him while he stood there confused. So yeah, I was bad at PvP but still had some fun.

The best part about this video for me is Mcconell getting all hyped up when Asmon is talking about the Faxmonkey video, and it being the first WoW vid he ever watched. That is two people getting super excited about something they shared as a great experience, that was awesome. Great nerd moment, and I loved Faxmonkey's stuff as well! :D
I loved playing a druid before I quit wow altogether because the class used to give you the most versatility, you could be a range dps, melee dps, healer or tank so it was sweet that you could fill in anything your party might need. :)

I unironically played Druid in WoW once, with the express desire ot "unlock every transformation I can in the game." I became a Worgen Druid who eventually acquired the Vial of the Sands, and then had an existential crisis after I no longer had any in-game goals.
It's 2022 and I love hearing him saying this vid is wrong just for it so say what he just said a moment before while it was paused, lol
As any mage on their journey to check all the boxes in this video, I also quit the game for 6 months on a server that was 55/45 Horde/Alliance which became 99% Alliance because of unmitigated server transfers.
This is one of my favorite Asmon videos, nice to relive the moment
8:00 that's false you n00b. As a lock, you could farm 30/40 shards in 2 minutes just by entering AV, going in the middle of the map where minions fight and spamming your drain button.
THE ANSER IS YES as a mage main i love portal it gave me the freedom to do things like arceology and battle pets without spinding 3 hours on a stupid bout that once you leav the doc it arives and you get to the doc its alreddy gone agen
