Seconding another plug for the solo streams: Even if you aren't interested in soloing the content yourself, the solo streams are really great for learning about mechanics you might not have ever known about, and might help with general tanking/healing. They're some of my favorites and I feel like I know a lot more about several of the dungeons whose streams I caught! Also, something something Scholar is a tank lol. I love that the first clip used for Scholar was Aurum Vale. That was *_such_* a wild one. XD Double also, the Paladin troll at the end. Nice.
I miss smn being able to tank,, heal, and dps. It was pretty unique to arr, but using tank accesories to summon titan egi gave it more hp and defense tan warrior and paladin, using healer accesories made smn physic actually fairly good for off heals on self adn others with the spell sustain healing titan egi. Iwas able to solo almost every dungeon in arr synced. The only one that wasn't doable on release was Amdapoor Keep due to specifically the bees on demonwall.
@@CaetsuChaijiCh as a job new summoner is fine, it just isnt engaging, and the old job was far mor interesting imo(i also can think of many ways they could have moved foreward with it design wise). there are a few things i can think of that can fix the job for me that they really can't do and have it fit with current design philosophy of the game. imo they have sorta backe it into a corner design wise, and I can't imagine what they will do with it in 7.0 that could make me want to go back to it as a main. I currently do not have a main job, I just sorta play w/e i feel like for whatever role my group needs so mainly shield healer(sage) because sch just doesnt have the tools my group needs for success(sage is better at babysitting due to instant casts)
One thing to also consider is that shields can be used to prevent some statuses, and whether a job can full heal themself. There are some mechanics that apply nasty debuffs and some that send you to 1hp or require you to full heal. I don't know about solo sync, but I know DRK can prevent the physical vuln from the TB in Eden Titan, and PLD resolves the petrification in O11S unsync. TBN can also prevent some vulns.
Indeed, that is very true! That is also why one of the weaknesses of warrior is lack of reliable access to a barrier! However the cases you mentioned I imagine are unsynced solos rather than synced, in which case warriors bloodwhetting can be combined with damage reduction, and possibly shake it off, for nearly the same barrier as TBN, albeit not as easily available! 😊 Those that require full healing are very nasty indeed!
Would love to see a similar comparison of the DPS jobs in party content, namely if any of them are notably stronger or weaker than other dps in each level range. Even though at level 90 the jobs are all balanced on the idea that no job is excluded from the latest raid, it would be nice to know what can clear roulettes and wondrous tails the fastest. For example, I hear Summoner is extremely overpowered at level 70, and machinist also seems to be comparatively overpowered anytime before level 80. Dragoon feels quite weak before level 70, etc. Maybe it's too taboo of a topic for XIV, and judging solely from clear times is too dependent on the other dps in your party.
It is an interesting subject, and is sometimes relevant to think about! A very simple example of this is that machinist especially happens to be weirdly strong at very low levels due to the power of spreadshot! With dancer being a close second! 😁
Freaking warriors man. They were strong as hell when the game released. They're strong as hell now. And they feel so satisfying to play. But Blue mage is another beast. It's like sitting down before bed and laying all your Yu-Gi-Oh or magic cards out to build the perfect setup for the next challenge.
@insanemang9983 i think warrior has so much self healing that if the other tanks got some more, there'd still be a chasm between them and warrior, but I see your point! 😊
@CaetsuChaijiCh yes ty! Gonna lvl war and unga bunga sum stuff. Only wish drk had a bit more of the vampy boi abilities cuz I'd rather take that for the long haul, but i do enjoy war as well
13:10 "Solo blue mage might have trouble with [large wall to wall pulls] too due to not being able to stun everything fast enough" I unno man, BLU built pretty different. You can do some nutty stuff if you plan it out properly. In dungeons below... a certain level I forget, you can just freeze packs as you walk into them, hit them with a bristled breath of magic (like a 360 potency DoT with basic instinct active), and keep going. They'll die before they catch you at the next pack
Oh I know, I was mainly referring to pulls of the size I demonstrate in the footage of warrior - cases where Holmgang have been necessary just to have time to heal up once the pack is collected! But you are right Blu is insane 🤣
For me the top two synced solo are Dancer and White Mage. The thing being that they’re both very high skillcap to self sustain. When i’m feeling lazy it’s gotta be summoner instead of
My fun solo experience is o8s unsynced. I doubt if Other savage can be soloed unsynced due to Body checks. And learning spells solo with blue mage is fun too.
I think many if not most of the omega raid can be soloed savage. There are exceptions. For example, O12S has a mandatory section that we yet cannot skip that requires two players. However, the phase 2 after the checkpoint is soloable 😁
@@CaetsuChaijiCh yeah... Only When damage is absurdly high, Then it can be soloed like a4s. If you can kill the 4th Leg in 2 gcd, Then you can skip the mechanic. It is possible with endwalker's 1000+ potency attacks, lol
To put a name on the word: the Solo streams is by Rath games! They've got guides out for soloing most of ARR if you're stuck somehere... like perhaps Titan (normal). some honorable mentions should go out to both Ninja and Samurai, for being the only jobs available in ARR that can pass Titan, by either dealing with it through a peaceable AoE, or putting out enough damage to skip the phase entirely.
Ummm, when I said solo streams, I was specifically talking about my own channel that *also* does soloing streams, just in a different format ^^' However I did mention Rath Games in the video as well! In regards to Ninja and Samurai, it is also worth noting these can only do this unsynced, albeit not necessarily needed to be at level 90 :)
Could you do The Aquapolis some time in your Solo Challenge streams? I've been trying to solo it as a scholar, but I keep dying in the second room, so I'm curious about what advice you have about doing it.
That is an interesting suggestion! I will write it down. As an opening suggestion, I could imagine that Warrior might be a stronger pick for it if you are dying to too much damage taken. But that's not super helpful if you don't have Warrior, or you already tried it and know it won't work!
Also, potions in 14 are kind of lackluster. Before watching: I'm predicting Red Mage being high up there, White Mage and Warrior are probably at the top of consideration.
Potions are actually incredibly strong! The problem is that at some point the potions stopped scaling well, so at higher levels they start to drop off in value ^^ Red Mage getting Vercure so late, and how much it eats into its damage output makes it hard to compete with even a healer job when so many of your casts end up going to healing yourself ^^'
So I'm new to ff since like 40 years ago playing it on nintendo...so there are no builds there are jobs and the jobs are static can u multi class jobs? Like can I be a warrior summoner ? Or dark knight dragoon? And how many jobs can u have? Is there any no nos or tips for not bricking a job or build or class exct??
Each job is a fixed brick. You cannot combine jobs. But one character can learn and fully level all jobs. You switch jobs as simply as changing your weapon. You cannot ruin a job, as they are all the same for everyone. The closest you could get is making weird equipment choices at max level, but even that is minimal. (and you could just fix it later haha) In summary: you are perfectly safe to explore EVERYTHING in final fantasy 14, as you can undo, or change your mind on basically everything. The only thing this does not apply to, is the first class you start as, determines a specific, but irrelevant, item you get at level 15 or so, and also which city you land in when you data center travel (again, doesn't REALLY matter) I hope this makes sense! 😊
Ironic how i am doing heaven on high solo as PLD to get the lone hero title and beated 50 floors so far without dying recent. If he is not in this list then PLD is mediocre?
Solo synced content isn't exactly the same, although very similar, as soloing deep dungeons, since in deep dungeons, all self healing needs are met with the sustaining potions. This alleviates most issues in that department, and also reduces the value of healing built in to a job. Indeed, paladin also has clemency, but the sustaining potions are a massive part of what makes any job (yes any job) able to solo deep dungeons with enough skill and finesse 😊 for deep dungeons, I could picture paladin ranking a bit higher due to some of its unique utility (shield bash for example) sometimes being much more helpful 😊 But yeah, I do think paladin would be like... Mediocre as you say for hoh for example 😊 Good luck with the hoh run!
PLD is much higher in HoH since you already have Clemency near the start and also get the trait that cuts spell cast MP costs in half. This means even though you do not have Holy Shelltron nor Holy Spirit/Circle healing you until much higher levels, you have a very powerful and efficient tool in Clemency. If you do PotD, you'll notice the distinction, especially on one of the hard hitting early bosses (the winged thing that uses Stormwind attack), which is very difficult to beat without Sustaining Potions on any Job that does not have a heal by that point (healers, DRK, WAR, and GNB). Even once you get Clemency, in PotD, it costs 4,000 MP to cast, making its use very limited. PLD is much stronger at higher levels (like he said in the video, above level 84, it is a strong contender), but it has to get to at least the upper 50s to even have Clemency, and really to 70 to have it be somewhat spamable.
It is very possible they can, but the sheer quantity of healing they would have to do to keep healthy would eat into their attacking so heavily that a Scholar or sage would be able to beat their damage output. However it is possible I suppose! 😊 Part of the problem is vercure is so late that most of the things that make Scholar and warrior overpowered are already online by the time you get vercure!
@@CaetsuChaijiCh As someone who's tried unsyncing some 80 dungeons on a 90 RDM, I can confirm, it's rough. VerCure is nice but you're doing half your normal damage (or less) in a tough pull as all your short casts (and some DualCasts) have to be spent on VerCure just to stay alive. At that point, you're better off with a tank or healer than can self-sustain without DPS loss.
@@CaetsuChaijiCh This is something about RDM that makes no sense to me. Me, irl: "If I was going to learn some Black and some White Magic, surely the first White Magic I would learn is a heal spell for emergency and combat healing potential, right?" Game: "Nah, you don't learn Vercure until level 54, and it's the only heal spell you will ever learn." I could understand Raise being a powerful spell that is difficult to learn, but if even SMN has Physic at level 4, you'd think RDM could learn Vercure much earlier. I know for me personally, if magic existed in real life, one of the first things I'd want to learn is a basic cure spell.
Not really. There are some very niche reasons, but this is mainly in terms of excessive optimization for things like people trying to beat the newest raids world first and such. Beyond that, don't need more than one character!
Black mage has scathe in sastasha, so black mage can actually cheese the majority of the dungeon with kiting! Monk only has second wind and bloodbath, and no ranged, and the self sustain there simply isn't enough 😅 I am focusing on sastasha because it is the easiest one, and monk likely would find even that very tough! 😊 Edit: but in a more general sense, black mage isn't exactly ranked much higher than monk given the exact reasons you gave!
Paladin is way better at early levels clemency is works amazing for it, dark Knight is a joke compared to clemency. The only real thing drk has over Pld is the third combo heal
And dark knight has souleater over thirty levels before paladin has clemency, so saying early levels for level 58 is maybe a bit weird don't you think? 😅 The main problem with clemency is that it costs 4000 mp when you initially get it, and costs a GCD, and has to be casted. It's OK, but compared to raw intuition (which is learned sooner), it is very weak. I know you were talking about dark knight, but dark knight beats paladin in the lower level range where clemency is not available. And warrior beats paladin the rest of the time. I did also give paladin an honorable mention for a reason 😊
@brocksanders4060 oh of course! there is a benefit to having clemency in a tough spot. But to solo synced, you have to do everything on your own. In a sudden death situation where you need to be the solo hero suddenly, clemency can certainly be more effective than what dark knight brings (not really anything at mid level), and also allows the paladin to potentially keep someone else alive, which warrior cannot in mid level 😊
If you are interested in soloing content, make sure to catch the Solo Challenge streams ! We're having fun

Summoner and Scholar are the best solo jobs, since you get to sit down and snuggle with your Carbuncle to not feel lonely.
