This guy has been posting DR tutorials for less than a year now. But his body of work thus far has been the most practical and useful tutorials/tips and tricks.
Well well you've modified your style over the last few months I think cause this one is quite an upgrade imo. Describing what you're doing even if basic, a good pace for mentally following along, no cigar, and unique content really suits me. Thanks for the tutuorial.
Thanks! I'm glad to have you here :D And thanks for noticing the evolution! I did some Resolve tutorials on my old channel so I had a base to work from, but I listen to viewer feedback, so changes are bound to happen :D Do you have anything in Resolve you'd like me to cover?
Holy shit John, all this fusion stuff blows my mind. Having said that, your clear blow-by-blow tutorials mean I don’t necessarily have to understand exactly what’s going on and it works! Thank you once again for a great tutorial.
Thanks! I definitely did this one at least 3 times before recording AND wrote down all the steps, to make the tutorial as clear as possible - I'm glad that work got noticed :D
Definitely appreciate the patience and the explanation of the the Switch node. I can see multiple applications for this node. The easiest way to achieve the reverse - is to make make the Stage Curtains a compound clip and put a reverse time effect on to the compound clip itself. Still, I appreciate the mental math inside Fusion because walk throughs like this give you an overall better understanding of how Fusion works... and it can be a very hard thing to wrap your head around.
Thanks! And I know there's an easier way - I showed doing that in the previous "Reverse Fusion Comps" video. The problem is, you lose the Render Cache when you create a Compound Clip... so if you have multiple nodes all doing stuff in Fusion, it'll really slow down playback during editing. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment :D
@@CreatorReality1 Just modified the effect on mine while following your video. Worked perfectly. Once I've got a bit more confident I'll be using the Switch node a lot more 👍😊
@@NickB_Yorkshire That's awesome! Exactly what I was hoping for when I created this video. I'm going to find some more uses for it and showcase those - what did you combine the Switch node with?
@@CreatorReality1 I combined it with the Stage Curtains effect as per yours, just so that all of the nodes I was dealing with in Fusion were exactly the same as the video. I wanted to be sure I was doing it correctly before I try modifying others 😉
All that effort just to reverse an effect… Davinci needs to simply this. I would just add the Curtain effect, make it a compound clip and then reverse the compound clip.
Yes, it should be simpler, but once you do it a few times, it's pretty quick, and you can save it in the Power Bins for later... and doing it the Compound Clip way prevents it from doing a Render Cache.
I completely understand that sentiment - I'm only scratching the surface of what Fusion is capable of! Hopefully you got the hang of this functionality - you'll probably want to use it in conjunction with next week's video :D [no worries, though - next week's tip can be used by itself]
If you follow the steps in this video, you should be able to drag & drop your effect into a new project and have the controls. If you don't see the Speed one, it's because sometimes Resolve changes the order they're displayed in: ua-cam.com/video/ciuBk23UGB8/v-deo.html

Thanks, Doc!
I am really impressed with your perserverence in attempting to solve a problem, coupled with your ability to think outside of the box. Well done!
Thanks, Phil! As soon as I heard about this new node, I was determined to make it work for me :)
This is what im looking for, new subs for solving my problem
Awesome! Any other problems in Resolve I can help with?

Wow, fantastic - and easy to do.
Thank you so much!
You're welcome! Thanks for watching :D

@@CreatorReality1 Ah. My mistake. Appreciate you.
@@artgarfunkelsgingerfro2886 No worries! Love the username, by the way :D
Great stuff. Didn't know about the Switch Node. Now subscribed 👍😊
Thanks! Glad to have you here :D

@@NickB_Yorkshire Oh, gotcha! I misread your comment as you following my tutorial and using it on another effect.
Don't ever quit on us & keep this good videos rolling, we're saying hi from, la isla del encanto, Puerto Rico.

This is gold. TY sir.
Thanks! Glad to help :D

so cool, i'm impress. I must subscribe :))
Thank you!
Hi there, John: Thanks for the video. I am still overwhelmed by fusion, but this was pretty helpful nonetheless.

That IS cool !!!
But how to save this modified generator for reuse in other projects/scenes?
I've tried, but I loose all the controls.

Showing support 🎅🏻👍
Thank you, my friend!
@CreatorReality, John, The Switch Node was introduced in Version 19.1.
Thanks for that info! So it IS brand-new :D Now I have to find more uses for it :D
Nice!!
Right? It totally changes things! You'll be able to use what you learned here and add it to next week's video, too! :D
Cool!
Right? Thanks for watching!
@@CreatorReality1 'Right?' why the question mark?
@@TrogART Sorry, it must be a slang thing I picked up. Full response: "Yeah, this node is really cool!"
Ιt looks like it takes nuclear physics to boil an egg.
LOL, no, not quite that bad :D Thanks for watching!
Awesome 😂😂😊❤❤❤
Thanks!
