BoBo N. RobinSon: Randy, like all of us, is so, so proud of his little brother Michael (RIP!) Michael was committed to his chosen field, did his homework thoroughly and became better than the best of his time. What a Talent! A Genius! A pious and heavenly human being was HE.
Holy shit @ that sax solo... Every single person on that stage was playin great, but that first solo was the MEAT of this live performance, in my humble opinion. That guy was doin some crazy stuff... Great upload.
I made the exact same observation many years ago on another video of this same performance that was once posted on UA-cam but has since been removed. I thought I was one of the only people to have noticed it. I guess I was wrong.
I am listening to one of my top ten mentors regarding the saxophonist that I wish I could become and I just realized something. I am going to have to pick another instrument if I want to live that dream. Love you Michael!
This performance is STRAIGHT FIRE!! Love my Chaka Khan!! 💘 Can't wait for her to come back to Newark, NJ's NJPAC or even the Prudential Center!! She is fantastic in concert!! 💘 🎶 👗 👡 🎼 😍 📷 💋
I'm trying to know it as well. His synth is low-key making the song along with diva Chaka's high octane vocals, Ferrone's sublime drumming and Brecker's staggering sax.
@Trinitodd & Ironman It's supposed to be Denzil "Broadway" Miller on the Moog. The Dude with the white hat bouncing and riding da riddim, right? Leon Pendarvis, is the player on the electric piano. But I think you guys are talking about the other guy.
@@musopaul5407 with all due respect to Randy, you can't compare his 32nd notes to Mike's. Mike seems to be always in complete control of what he's doing and blasts those 32nds with milimetrical precision for several bars like it's nothing. Slow the video down to 0.5 speed and Mike's solo is still jaw-dropping (indeed, it helps see the ammount of information his phrases pack, and how perfectly constructed they are). It's not that Randy isn't awesome here, but Mike is just in another level in my opinion.
Randy could have forever admired his gifted and hardworking younger brother, the bad-as-goodness Michael. Shaka with the Band has torn up - badissimo! MB:RIP!
❤️ the frequency means well. Very well actually. It’s just playing these type of dynamic arrangements nowadays can send one out of space, and these days we’re already smashed up out here man. Hahaha. Very lovely from Chaka and the Allstars group.

Love the “rawness” of this performance! Surely the flats and sharps are an inevitable/essential part of their performances, It also inspires musicians to strive to improve for their future performances. Unlike digital live enhancements nowadays…
Can't believe Michael played the original solo on James taylor's Don't let me be lonely tonight in the early (? ) 70s way before this time with Chaka! Cool!
Man... Mike and Randy Brecker. Absolutely adore all their work from the 70:ies well into the 21:st century. Amazingly talented people. Actually, this very video was what opened my eyes to the their talent. I've started looking into the back catalogue of Brecker Brothers and Michael Brecker Band music. Yup! Hamish Stuart. That's the dope thing about this concert. You get Chaka with a little Brecker Brothers (Randy & Mike) and a little Average White Band (Hamish & Steve Ferrone). The lineup is absolutely crazy!
Michael Brecker was a gift from GOD!

everyone talks about Brecker. Ms. Khan has an amazing voice and this is a great performance by her
Keyboards: Leon Pendarvis & Denzil "Broadway" Miller
Two very underrated players!
So does everyone else on stage just look at Mike and go..."I'm witnessing the greatest improvised solo in the history of the human race???"
Right?
yes

Just...wow!
Geeesh Michael Brecker.......WOW......freaking mind blowing solo
I fucking love how at 3:02 Randy bumps into Mike during his solo and he just hits a crazy high note like it's on cue with their reaction.
Shit, I have seen this so many times and never noticed that.
Hah, that's hilarious ;D. I did notice Randy bumping into Mike before but I never noticed that high note at that time. So funny ;).
made Randy crack up, that's pretty funny. Mike was so in the moment.
