You may be right about what catagories Saturday Night may not be nominated, but let's look at other, equally prestigious noms. Best Production Design, Costume Design, Sound Design. It's Best Adapted Screenplay because it's based on a show.
I can't see this movie doing great worldwide, unless there are countries where SNL was broadcast and popular. I'm familiar with SNL from clips I saw on social media but that's all - and completely unfamiliar with 1970s SNL. Of course, some of these characters became famous for movies (like Dan Ayckroyd) but I have never heard of Lorne Michaels before I listened to reviews for this movie.

Really looking forward to this one. Seems like a film with so much energy.
I watched it three times and still can watch it again without getting tired of it.
It looks a great contender for screenplay as well

Yeah, I agree. The film does feel a little niche. I'd be surprised if it ends up being a box-office smash. Cheers!
What a movie!Took me a while to get into it..I know all the early characters..believe me it helps!
Hubby and I really enjoyed this movie.
I actually think it works better if you don't know the original show, because it gets so much wrong
Better off watching SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE: THE FIRST FIVE YEARS
