    - 1 large cup of oats
    - 3 large cups of water (warm)

    - 3 tblsp sugar (dependent on taste)

      or just salt - in case one doesn't want it sweet. also maple syrup is fine (even after one did add a bit of salt). it is very variable. I loved it on hotels in asia. we even had one made only with water because in my group were a lot of vegans. it still tasted delicious. no milk needed. one still can add it afterwards and eat it like a sauce without stirring. the only thing, I need, a good recipy that produces a porridge exactly like those that I was served. I think, this video does shot how. the porridge looks so creamy - and no butter or roasting as a first step - still creamy. I will try it now

    I rarely add any sweetener in my oatmeal/porridge not even honey and I always add fruit and nut butter on top. I suggest adding smashed ripe banana in the pot while cooking if you want your oatmeal to smell good and taste more sweet. Honey is good but it’s not easy to find the organic and pure ones. Sugar is not the evil but too much of sugar isn’t good for you. I like this recipe though.💛

    • @cu12351
      @cu12351 2 роки тому

      Get honeycomb or honey from locally sourced areas if ur (understandably) worried about the honey not being pure. Adding bananas is a great idea to! :)

    • @elisabeth9951
      @elisabeth9951 5 років тому +2

      I prefer cups as we don't have anything to measure grams. But it's true that using "g" and "l" is more accurate. xD But from the video you can easily take that is 2/3 of water 1/3 of oats and then add 1/3 of milk.

    I prefer the big Scottish oats rather than ground oats but when my kids were small I used the ground kind. My Irish grandad liked his porridge made with water and salt and then when cooked he added a dod of jam and the cream from top o the milk. I suppose sugar wasn’t used so often when he was young ( he was born in 1911) because of war time rationing and cost. It was also common to pour the day’s leftover porridge in a bowl or tray and add to it each day. When cold It set quite firm like a flapjack and you could cut a slice off and eat at teatime with jam. There is no waste when there is nothing else to eat. X

      One Cheeeka it gets creamy like that when they add too much water and overcook the oats. Try adding 1/2 cup oats and 1.5 cup water put oats in immediately with water not after water boils and let it cook in medium to high heat until it looks “dissolved” but that’s not really the right way to make them.
