Finally a regular recipe! Everyone keeps using alternatives instead of the real deal ingredients that I grew up on!! Real sugar butter and milk thank you!!!
My grandmother used to make this for me almost every week last time. She will use coconut milk instead of cowmilk and will add sugar and a little bit of salt.. That's it! So delicious 🤤 You guys should try that
I don't know what people are complaining about the vid is pretty straight forward you add what you want to add and the basic foundation is there this vid deserves a like thanks.
Her ingredients in my opinion serves 2, here ya go: - 1 large cup of oats - 3 large cups of water (warm) - 1 large cup of milk - 3 tblsp sugar (dependent on taste)
Also guys you don't need to add in sugar if you don't want to! 😊 you can also add in honey instead but if you don't like porridge sweet that's ok! ☺ This video also really helped thanks!
or just salt - in case one doesn't want it sweet. also maple syrup is fine (even after one did add a bit of salt). it is very variable. I loved it on hotels in asia. we even had one made only with water because in my group were a lot of vegans. it still tasted delicious. no milk needed. one still can add it afterwards and eat it like a sauce without stirring. the only thing, I need, a good recipy that produces a porridge exactly like those that I was served. I think, this video does shot how. the porridge looks so creamy - and no butter or roasting as a first step - still creamy. I will try it now
Gorgeous recipe I added vanilla extract, honey (for absolutely no reason) and condensed milk It was yummy I ate it so fast Very good recipe and it’s simple Thank you
Me and my fiancé eat this porridge nearly everyday it is beautiful people you must try it!!!! Thanks for your help miss I will continue this recipe until the end of time!!!!!!

Thank you so much I make it everyday when I feel low on energy and hungry. I love it and my parents love it whenever I make oatmeal I. Follow your recipe thank you very much
I rarely add any sweetener in my oatmeal/porridge not even honey and I always add fruit and nut butter on top. I suggest adding smashed ripe banana in the pot while cooking if you want your oatmeal to smell good and taste more sweet. Honey is good but it’s not easy to find the organic and pure ones. Sugar is not the evil but too much of sugar isn’t good for you. I like this recipe though.💛
@@mmmmmmmm1942 doesn't matter what size the mugs are they are all the same measurements just didn't smaller amount of your cup is smaller or bigger if your cup is bigger
I do that too if I follow American recipe where most of the time they still use cups rather than grams if you use the same size cup it’s usually fine :) but I don’t think many countries use the cup as a unit of measurement
I prefer cups as we don't have anything to measure grams. But it's true that using "g" and "l" is more accurate. xD But from the video you can easily take that is 2/3 of water 1/3 of oats and then add 1/3 of milk.
I’ve never made porridge with water as the base before, definitely going to try this - I really love mine with a pinch of salt and cinnamon after some sugar, but might have to try with butter, too!!

Thank you! Had porridge as a kid but I never got a good consistency/flavour. Just tried this recipe and it's so much better. Going to make winter so much easier😁
I prefer the big Scottish oats rather than ground oats but when my kids were small I used the ground kind. My Irish grandad liked his porridge made with water and salt and then when cooked he added a dod of jam and the cream from top o the milk. I suppose sugar wasn’t used so often when he was young ( he was born in 1911) because of war time rationing and cost. It was also common to pour the day’s leftover porridge in a bowl or tray and add to it each day. When cold It set quite firm like a flapjack and you could cut a slice off and eat at teatime with jam. There is no waste when there is nothing else to eat. X

Bernadette Hynes - Cafferkey it's called oatmeal because it's made from oat.
Porridge could be made from a lot of things, oat is one of them.
I generally consider oatmeal the thicker, more textured variation, and porridge the thinner more runny variation like this.
I think the same way for meatloaf
I just made oatmeal the first time and they are thick af and have zero taste but it's good with a banana, cinnamon and pb.
