  • This is a step by step, how to video, showing how to spray paint camo on your gun using dish soap as a stencil. This easy painting technique allows for simple or complex free-flowing shapes and interactive layers. The outlines made by the dish soap are more crisp, and are obtained without cutting stencils.
0:00 Introduction to spray painting a gun using dish soap.
2:03 Spray painting the gun with a solid base layer.
3:19 Adding soft and misted stencils to the base layer for organic shapes and gradients.
4:40 Overview of the first layer.
5:04 Time for the fun part, the mystery part, the soap.
5:52 Visualize what you want to keep from the previous layer before you put down soap.
7:17 Applying the first layer of soap onto the gun, then spray painting two colors for the second layer of paint.
9:03 A very soapy gun with fresh spraypaint.
9:36 Putting down the 1st layer of soap on reverse side of gun.
10:25 Painting on top of soap on reverse side, with a spray painting tip.
11:16 Washing off first layer of dish soap. Reveling 1st and 2nd layers of spray paint and patterns.
12:00 Applying 2nd layer of soap to gun. Lightly using 4 colors for 3rd layer of spray paint.
14:09 Soapy close up of freshly painted gun.
14:26 Applying 2nd layer of soap, and 3rd layer of spray paint on reverse side of gun.
15:30 Close up of dish soap and spray paint on gun.
15:49 Overview of completed custom gun camo.

Id recommend getting one of those dollar store empty ketchup bottles and you have more control over the soap and the pattern. Best part about camo is there very few ways to do it wrong, awesome vid.

I've been doing this for years... It looks way better than something done with stencils by far. Very easy to do. The soap will pool in some areas, so be mindful and use it sparingly. I use a good decreaser over rubbing alcohol. I would recommend using a big bottle and use a striping motion. Better results

@Save Face, you've definitely got tons of comments praising your work, rightfully so. I just wanted to say that I've been wanting to spray my ARs for a while now, and have watched plenty of videos on it. Some of them came out pretty nice, but still hadn't been "wowed" by them.
Then I saw this. Outstanding. I'm definitely going to try this method. I would have stopped after the first rinse, but you kept going, to my surprise, and it came out even better. Outstanding man!

    • @SaveFace
      @SaveFace  2 роки тому +1

Thank you so much man! I appreciate the nice compliment. I was kinda motivated by the lack of simple "wow" paint jobs. I personally think most of the laundry bag paint jobs could be much better with a little more planning/ another color. I was pretty close to stopping after the first wash. But I had done enough test runs to know a second layer of soap would be best. Thanks again.
