  • While creation is the Holy Spirit’s first act in Scripture, the overwhelmingly dominant work attributed to the Spirit in both Testaments is the giving of revelation.

    Should the TR be the ultimate authority for the text of scripture, why or why not?

      While I admit I never read the TR, there's no question that the HT is the ultimate authority for the text of Scripture. HT being, of course, the Holy Trinity!
      After watching so many exposés on false teachers, etc. I'm trusting man's interpretation of the Bible less and less and more and more would insist on the 5 Solas, especially SOLA SCRIPTURA! No question the modern day wolves in sheep's clothing came into being as soon as the Word of God was completed in around 95 AD. (I know there were false teachers before that and false prophets in the Old Testament. That's not what I mean here.) I mean people who either obviously or not so much (remember how subtle and slick their real father, the devil, actually is.) twist Scripture to support their doctrine instead of conforming their doctrine to Scripture! And, sorry Spencer Smith, but the Independent Fundamentalist Baptists aren't off the hook either! Why? The KJV only lie and once saved always saved false doctrine (it's actually gnosticism, not biblical Christianity. Proof here: simonpetersutherland.com/2018/01/30/is-once-saved-always-saved-gnostic/ )
      I'm neither Calvinist or Armenian. I just prefer to stick with Scripture.
      Your thoughts?

    You are too casual. Not even RC or John, who earned respect over decades, acted so artificially relaxed.

    *Limited atonement: an HERESSY.* Just the name… sounds very strange. The work of the cross is complete, it's perfect! When you don't find any text in the Bible to prove Jesus paid only for a few, you must be very, very careful before using your human logic. God offers salvation to *ALL who believe in His Son.* Because *He paid for ALL of our sins. He suffered the punishment for ALL of our sins.* Those who won't accept this true will be separated from God for eternity. That's hell. That's what the Bible says. That's the perfect and powerful gospel! Nothing limited there. Secondly, if people can't believe in Jesus, because they have not been chosen from the beginning, but at the same time, He is calling us to preach to everyone out there… it would mean God is making fun of us. That's not the God of the Bible. A sovereign god that has chosen the most of humanity to be suffering in hell for trillions, and trillions, and trillions of years, without any opportunity to choose, *is NOT a loving God, is NOT a merciful God,* it’s a god with a corrupt heart, exactly like yours. *Once saved, always saved, no matter what you do, is one of the best lies of the devil.* The Spirit of God would never speak nonsense! All the New Testament is full of warnings, from Jesus and Paul, against the apostasy. To warn somebody when there is no danger, is stupid. The Spirit of God would never do such a thing. My friend *CALVINISM is an heressy.*

    Yet G3 endorses & teaches: Only an arbitrary pre-chosen elect will irresistibly turn to Christ, consequently all others can't.

      Psalm 14:1-3 “ The fool says in his heart, ‘There is no God.’
      They are corrupt, they do abominable deeds;
      there is none who does good.
      2 The LORD looks down from heaven on the children of man,
      to see if there are any who understand,
      who seek after God.
      3 They have all turned aside; together they have become corrupt;
      there is none who does good,
      not even one.”

      Right. In Romans 3 Paul is pulling from Psalm 14 & 53 of what the FOOL says & does. Were your feet swift to shed blood? Romans 3 is Paul telling the Jews they too need a Savior.
      Regarding John 6:44, before you think it validates Calvinism (God pre-saving some & pre-damning most). Back up to 6:40, Jesus is physically standing before people telling them the WILL of God is that EVERYONE who sees the Son & believes on Him may have everlasting life. Then after His crucifixion Jesus draws all (John 12:32). Then after His ascension the Holy Spirit convicts the WORLD (John 16:8)
      Going back to Romans 3 where JMac & others get "Man is so totally depraved he can't & won't seek God he is unwilling & incapable". That's Calvinism, not scripture. You were born when & where you were born to seek God (Acts 17:26-31).
      Calvin "Some are doomed from the womb"... Jesus "For the Son of Man did not come to destroy men's lives but to save them" (Luke 9:56 KJV)

      @@Psalm146-2 1, I like your tag-name (are you a good singer)!
      2, I don't think God is arbitrary. However, Calvin, Johnathan Edwards & many modern day Calvinists call God's chosing Arbitrary. It's Unconditional Election remember? Without meeting any condition or criteria. They get that from poor study of Romans mid-9 (before the twins did anything good or bad...)
      3, In Matthew 22 Israel rejects the prophets, the Lord sends the disciples to invite everyone, even the Gentiles. Those who receive Christ/put on Christ/who are clothed in His Righteousness are allowed in, hence "Many are called, but few are chosen"
      4, Those who receive/accept/trust Jesus as Savior become the Chosen, Elect, Redeemed, Beloved.
      5, The mission & purpose of God sending His Son was to redeem any, all, everyone from the sting of death & curse of sin, even the entire earth (no more poison ivy, volcanoes, tsunamis). Not just a special favored elect few will be irresistibly regenerated & all others will be vessels made for destruction... that came from Augustine's Gnosticism.
