You guys are smarter than I, but may I suggest a title change? “The Misunderstood God” rings of a separation in the Godhead. It makes the Holy Spirit sound like a separate God…fwiw.
I would suggest “The Holy Spirit: God Misunderstood”.
Maybe I’m nitpicking. Love you guys and your channel, thank you for what you do.

Actually i think it underscores that the Spirit of God is in fact God and not a seperate part nor attribute, but indivisible from Father and Son. Also a reminder that attributing all kinds of nonsense to Him (not "it") is just as blasphemous as attributing error to Father and Son.
But I see your point and changing thr title wouldn't change either truths, I just didn't take it that way.

This is how some Pastors I know feel...that if the "atmosphere" is not "charged" then we(worship team) did not do our job. There had to be a certain "feeling" present...a certain emotional state. If that feeling isn't there or present...then something is wrong...then the Pastors can't deliver their message properly....because the people weren't in the right "emotional place"...what?!

I was involved in a Messianic/Charismatic church for 12 years. The practices of their beliefs in the Holy Spirit kept its members dependent on affirmations of God's presence through their experiences (heightened emotions, dreams, prophetic words, visions). Therefore, the maturity we were continually prodded to grow in was stunted as like babies we were manipulated by our feelings.

You people are really confused. How did God heal in the book of Acts. He healed by the gifts of Spirit. You said ypu agree that God still heals today. Do you not think that he will still heal by the gifts today? You better stop distracting the people of with lies. How was the lame man healed at the gate of Beautiful? Peter said it is not by his power that such a miracle has been wrought. It is by the name of Jesus. I was at a meeting in Cameroon Africa, Pastor William Kumuyi prayed for the sick from the platform. A little child who was crippled for four years walked right before my eyes. There was explosion of joy as her mother burst in celebration. How was this child miraculously healed ? Just like the man at the gates of beautiful was healed. Why will someone be a cessationist? DECEPTION.

@@Tucauppercut They are saying God can still heal today. But the " supernatural gifts" have ceased. They are making a concession and nuancing it at the same time. If he heals today. How does he heal? It is not by the same gifts of Spirit just as the book of ACTS. How did the crippled child walk in the meeting in Cameroon. By the gifts of the Spirit in the name name of Jesus. Cessationism is a bunch of confusion.

    • @Titus2BibleStudy
      @Titus2BibleStudy 6 місяців тому

You are misunderstanding cessationism. Cessationist are NOT anti supernatural or anti miracle.
Cessationist believe that there were certain gifts given during the period the church was beginning and being established. There was no circulating Bible at this time. There was no central resource. God used Apostles and Prophets as His messengers. They were supernaturally gifted to bring God’s words to the churches. They were basically “human Bibles”. And their message was confirmed by supernatural anointing and abilities.
Today, we don’t need these supernatural “human Bibles” because we have the Bible. And therefore we don’t need those special types of confirmation miracles.
But the supernatural work of the Holy Spirit can and does still happen (when it’s His will to do so) simply by faithful believers humbly bringing their requests before God in prayer.

You might want to go back and listen to what they actually say. Absolutely God the Holy Spirit still works supernaturally within both our lives and the world. What ceased (and you can see it disappear starting about Acts 17) are the outward sign gifts which God used to build a foundation for the church. Once the church was "up and running," those weren't needed any longer. If the Trinity is true, and what Jesus said in John 17:11 and 21 is true, then we will all be one with the Father the same way Jesus and the Father are one. In Trinitarianism, that must mean we would each be our own God - “God the … (insert your name)”, and we, many persons, will be the one God, just as the Father and Jesus and the third person are many persons, one God. But that cannot be correct, we're not Gods, we're created beings. Therefore:
God is not 3 persons, one God.
God is two persons, one Spirit.
    (John 4:24) *_God [is] a Spirit:_* ...
The Father is the one true God, because He is the unchanged, immortal, invisible, always existing Person (Being), and the Risen Son, Jesus, is God because He is the pre-existent eternal Word of God, reunited with the Father in His own Spirit, from where the two existed together, in one Spirit, from the Beginning as the one God - Almighty God and the Word of God (John 1:1-2, 17:5; Rev 19:13).
So whoever has received the Father's Spirit is one with Him right now, having His nature placed within them at the new birth (Jesus called this the Kingdom of God - Luke 17:21). But the Believer only has a down payment, consisting of a portion of His Spirit, competing with our sinful flesh. On Resurrection Day, we will be subsumed into all of His Spirit, as Christ was (Acts 2:32-33) - still individual bodies, but with them glorified, and having no more fallen flesh nature. That's why sin will never be possible in the eternal state.
(Perhaps the Trinity is where so many crazy ideas come from in the world of Kenneth Copeland, and the like, that we will be Gods).
    1 Corinthians 15:44,46 ESV
*_It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body._* If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body.
[46] But *_it is not the spiritual that is first but the natural, and then the spiritual._*
    John 17:20-21 ESV
"I do not ask for these only, *_but also for those who will believe in me through their word,_*
[21] *_that they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be in us,_* …

Tell me, please. Who is the “he”, “him” and “his” (in bold) that Jesus is speaking about in each of the following verses?
      John 3:16 KJV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in *_him_* should not perish, but have everlasting life.
      Matthew 25:31 NASB95
"But when the Son of Man comes in *_His_* glory, and all the angels with *_Him,_* then *_He_* will sit on *_His_* glorious throne.
      John 4:10 KJV
Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of *_him,_* and *_he_* would have given thee living water.
      John 14:16-17,26 KJV
      And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that *_he_* may abide with you for ever;
[17] Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth *_him_* not, neither knoweth *_him:_* but ye know *_him;_* for *_he_* dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
[26] But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, *_he_* shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
As you can see from the above, Jesus spoke in the language of the prophets, using the “third person”, when referring to Deity (Himself). He never spoke ABOUT there being a third person, He spoke “IN the third person”. Jesus is the indwelling Holy Spirit. Apostle Paul even said anyone who doesn't know that is a reprobate (means is in error).
      John 14:18 ESV
"I will not leave you as orphans; *_I will come to you._*
      John 14:21 KJV
… and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and *_will manifest myself to him._*
      2 Corinthians 13:5 KJV
Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that *_Jesus Christ is in you,_* except ye be reprobates?

ever wonder why music is so powerful? because it models the godhead. music has as a bass note 3rd note and a 5th note all harmonizing with each other acting in one accord. so a musical chord models after the godhead. 3 parts or persons harmonizing with each other acting as one chord/God(elohim).this is God. The father The son and The holy spirit as 1God.
cant have a musical chord without all three parts. same with God himself. hope this helps .

As I listen to your conversation, my mind goes to 1 Kings 19:9-12, where the prophet Elijah was shown great signs, but the text says , paraphrasing, “the zLord was not in the wind…the Lord was not in the earthquake…the Lord was not in the fire…and after the fire a still small voice.” I don’t know how anyone can hear the “still small voice” in a charismatic situation.

We all have our leanings, being a charismatic church setting, I've been burned by it's misuse, but I've also been to the other extreme where I ignore the leading of the Spirit, walking for the leading of the mind. I'm trying to find the middle at this point

Am I wrong in saying that the “still small voice“ is better translated as “a low whisper” or “a gentle blowing“ both of which do a better job of indicating that the actual out loud voice of God was coming from outside of the cave, and Elijah needed to go outside of the cave to hear the words that God was saying. Not that there was some voice inside of his head.
