I used Eco Style Professional Hair Gel (olive Oil). I didn't get the build-up or flakiness. My hair is 4C and it depends on the different hair types. I have a lot of hair which is thin. After I wash my locs, I rub a light amount of coconut oil whilst it is damp and then use a small amount of Eco Gel.
I really felt this you are telling the whole truth I even thought about using a mouse but my hair so thick I think I'm going to use the edge booster I want to order the gel but I need a retwist asap that gel really works too and yup I saw buildup but it went away thank you for sharing I'm going out to try the gel from dollar store and the edge booster🎉🎉🎉🎉
I always use coconut oil, water and conditioner on a more loose twist day if I need to retouch. I agree its not as neat and tight so thats why I do it on just days where I may need some clean up. My hair is 3c 3b and 4c in the middle lol my son is all 4c and baby that oil water twist I did on him? Yeah nope! Once I get these clarifying shampoos for my son maybe I can try more twist brands cause the buildup this boy gets is something serious.
Good video. I am starting my loc journey again for the 4th or 5th time. Never went through with it because of the flakes and nasty build up. I'm starting with interlocks but I want to Palm roll the rest of the time. Thank you for showing me the way 🙏 lol 😆
Personally I need to use something that has some kind of hold to it if I just used hair grease and water my retwist wouldn’t last 24 hours lol…but if you already tried it and it worked well for you then continue with it
@@_MelissaRae_ Yes.. my hair seems to lock quickly with anything in it which I love but hurts to comb it through lol. Like you said, those products left me with embarrassment after it dried which is why I went back to old school remedy products. I use grease because I like the fluffy looks after a retwist and wash..
I make my own concoctions...... for about my first 3.5 years it worked and that mostly consisted of oils and leave in growth serums. Now.... lordt I don't know if it's due to the length now but like you it looks like I did NOTHING the very next day. Got another concoction I'm going to do today AND try this tight hold gel by taliah waajid.
@@moniquehandy7103 The gel that I like to use is the Genuine African Formula Supergro hair gel. I mention it in this video and I purchase mine on Amazon. It’s a bit pricey but its the best gel I’ve used so far

I used btl & I didn’t have any white residue or flaking so I just think the product depends on the hair type
I totally agree!

To me nothing beats Genuine African Formula SuperGro hair gel. I order mine from Amazon it’s a bit pricey but it’s the best to me
I use hair grease and water for retwist.. is that's okay?

@@_MelissaRae_ I used aloe Vera gel mixed with honey mostly honey so it can hold
what size locs do u have? I like how you hair look matured. I was thinking of getting extra small/mini locs.
I guess mine will fall under medium sized but I’m not quite sure lol
@@_MelissaRae_ Thank you. i just got my hair locked 2 days ago. I decided to go with small traditional locs
@@juntiarosser4480 Great! I hope you enjoy your loc journey 😊
