I've watched this video several times, with the desire to get on a budget. I haven't done anything yet, but I'm finally getting serious! My planner is on it's way to become my cash wallet and I just downloaded this spreadsheet. Thank you for putting out these videos (and for freebies) I feel like making a budget is finally attainable. 🤗
The only thing I would add to readers who aren't Dave Ramsey followers, is that there would be no budget for savings while paying off debt. You build a $1000 emergency fund and just let it sit there without building. Then you attack the debt even harder.

Ur gift card idea is genius! I always struggle with online purchases when I do my budget bc I want my numbers to be exact and lessen the number of transactions from my checking. Absolutely brilliant, thx!

How in the heck did i just find this video you made!! I am in love with this spreadsheet you made. I have always had issues when it comes to budgeting my money and this spread sheet seems so simple to follow. I am definitely giving it a shot this year. I will let you know how it goes. :)

Hi, Charlotte. I love the video and thanks for your time and effort to put this together for us. I really like Apple's numbers app, thanks for the heads up on that and great tips for budgeting. I really like the number of bills shown on the bottom of the spreadsheet. I heard that most individuals go beyond their budgets due to $5 and $10 small purchases.

I have a very similar monthly tracking method that I use. I basically know what bills are due each month and pay them before I give myself "fun money". I also try hard and limit my credit card usage unless I plan on paying it off the following month as it's easy to get in trouble with that. I do like the gift card idea and plan to incorporate it into my budgeting. Thanks!
So I just got onto the Dave Ramsey bandwagon. I only have a car lease in terms of "debt" and once I pay this $80 credit card bill this Friday, I will probably shred that card. I have been saving regularly but I still feel like I am not doing a good enough job. (Give each dollar a job ect). I already have $1,000+ emergency fund and have kept adding to it regularly. I hope to have my goal of $7,500 by the end of the Winter. When it comes to weekly and monthly budgets, everything is met and I barely go over-budget for the month. My question to you is how do I properly budget when you start with a surplus (lets say $2000 for simplicity) and then factor in your two paychecks? I will actually get paid three times this month. That is just how the pay schedule worked.
With all of your debt almost completely handled except a car payment, and having a surplus, you would put all that surplus to the car payment. The idea is to pay everything off (including the car) and then once that is paid off you can put it all in savings. This savings would be different than your emergency fund. You would want it to equal 3-6 months of expenses. I hope that helps. I encourage reading his book, if you don't want to take the course, for a more in depth explanation.

I am trying to track all of my expenses but it is quite hard when, as you said, you are a freelance and nobody (especially here in Italy) pays on time! So frustrating! Anyway I will try this cash method since it is a good solution to have a complete control on our budget! Thank you so much!

We use a variation of your gift card idea. We can also only spend on Amazon what we have gift cards for but instead of buying them with cash we use programs including Swagbucks, etc. to earn them. This way we don't have to take money out of our monthly EveryDollar budget for our Amazon purchases but can still purchase from Amazon the things that we can get cheaper on there (by using Amazon discount coupons, etc.) than we can get them at our local Walmart. This way our Amazon purchases don't reduce at all how much money we have available for putting towards our debt.

Thank you Joella! I've been working diligently on getting better at budgeting for about a year and it's slowly coming more naturally. The hardest part for me is being freelance and not having a consistent income to base my budget off of, but I think this system is helping me work around that and roll with what is coming in/going out each month. What about you - do you struggle with budgeting too? XOXO

Now I have never used a gift card before, but don't you have a fee somewhere for the use of this? If so, why not use a checking account for this and use your debit/credit card?
Nope, no fees for gift cards. The idea is to take self control out of the equation...instead of relying on yourself not to go over budget on your debit card, a gift card has a specific amount and can't be overspent. It's not for everyone, just the technique that works for me!
