Inherited one of my sister's vinyl Ska/Trojan collection in the mid-70s. So by the time the Two-Tone era came around, I'd already been listening to some good old Classics since the age of 10!
Loved this time in my life. Met my husband a month off his 17th Birthday....he's 61 now. We still look back on those times with a grin. Great times. Lots of laughs, lots of boozing....stuff of dreams.
We used to buy NME on a Thursday. PHONE all our mates up to meet at a train station, and go off for a Friday/Saturday night in London (usually Camden), and see Madness et al (generally 2 other great Bands on the same Bill) .....for a Fiver a Ticket!!! So pleased we were part of this era,and watching this with all the young kids dressed up and dancing gets me nostalgic.
Another really funny memory my sister and I have, is of our lovely ol' Dad (RIP 💔 ) smiling, humming and tapping his foot along to "Wet Dream "...don't think he had a clue about the lyrics!!😅😅😅😅
thats not ska its rock steady skin head reggae
I've got a few family members that are skinheads and every time I've tagged along to a Ska event I've had such a blast!
Same, I grew up on punk, always enjoy ska and northern soul nights, ❤
Was a skinhead girl 50 years ago, 63 now, those were the days, 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
What colour laces in your DM’s did you have?? I had bright orange!! Black flight jacket boom! X
@@Vwfan Us girls had monkey boots, smaller version of the DMS. Laces were dark red. Prince of Wales check skirt or trevira two tone skirt and coat. Crombie coat in the winter. Brutus check shirt. Happy days. 😊😊😊
Look at all them cool cats dancing.
Love their style 😎🏆
Growing up in an inner City I was lucky enough to had experience of the Ska phenomenon back in the day.
That Skin girl in the black skirt dancing starting at 0:19 is the prettiest young lady I've ever seen. And she looks so happy on the dance floor. What a nice video!
Ska so smooth! Greetings from Maryland, USA.

Amazing to see it coming back!! 🤩
I came for the skinheads, I'm staying for the dancing.

Great to see this trend still exists. I went from skin head to reggae then raver. The drugs what fucked me up in the end. But he we do recover 😁
I'm a Gabber, but Ska has always fascinated me i love the dancing !!

@@garthly
I was born in 67.
There was a bit of a revival in the late 70s early 8os.
Absolutely brilliant days
Happy memories 😀😀
Still listen to the music.
No huge quiff anymore
Completely bald now.
Sadly a few good mates have passed away but never forgotten.
Live each day to the full
Because tommorow somtimes never comes 🙂
Jamaica ska , estuvo de moda ese baile y música en México por el año ,1960
Had to look through the comments before posting. I'm glad people aren't thinking ska skinheads are the same as racial skinheads. HUGE difference. Same reason a swastika is seen as only hate. Flip it around and its a symbol of peace.
Sounds like a bullshit attempt at justification! Skinheads are happy so long as it's only white people around them! There's where your difference is!
@@jboyd7201 Here's some reading material you may find helpful. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skinhead and en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trojan_skinhead
Class great to see young blood Kept the faith KEEPER SKA
Great stuff, so good to see the new Skinheads, the young keeping it alive. I was a Skinhead in the 70's and eighties, I'm more of a Baldhead nowadays. Keep it alive guys.
so was i but i do still have my hair LOL
@@eddieMurphy11111 LOL, when I shaved my head you could see a dark shadow, now I don't need to shave it. LOL
Did you get a Trojan tatoo?
@@carlosr.9469 no
The good old days
Strange to see the shaved heads n reggae but why not? Plus the dance moves and ladies all looked great👍👍👍
@ Bit before my time n strange because skinheads to me were into other others types of music etc..
A misconception to me. I guess most people think of skinheads as the nazi type..
@ Yep Uk but hadnt heard about it. My parents being from Brum would have done..mods etc.
They never talked about skinheads and my Dad was the driver for the Spencer Davis group! (Were roommates). So know about the music...he was more jazz though.
And yeah know about Reggae n ska etc just never heard the skinhead connection.
Thanks for the explanation. You learn something new every day!
@ Brought up down South. My G G G Dad was a composer of Folk music/dances. Played 4 instruments. (Shropshire side are fiddlers mostly).
Interestingly one relative was in the Marines band in Japan etc while another the band of the Shropshire light infantry (WW2). Cousin a jazz singer, my sister does gigs (violin) mostly midlands.
P.s Am Villa. Dad n several generation Aston right next to the ground. "A stones throw". So although born nr Windsor every time am in Bham etc get the tingles down the spine.
@ I also have links to Spain! (My niece is part Catalan😉) Whereabouts? Might be moving back there but Covid messed everything up sadly
Tell me the bar maybe will turn up for a game ha.
@ Haha no way! Thats where I went to when was teenage on hols. (Torrevieja)
My Nana (brummy) lived in residencia La Siesta about 5-10 mins from Torrevieja. (She lived there for 5yrs...was damm hot in summer.) Used to drink there aged 14 or so in the 90''s..
I'll find that bar one day!
never be the same again 50s teds, 60s rockers 60s skins, a was there 69 was class, 1972 dark ages will the sun ever rise again, dont think so, if you wernt there then you never lived

ROCK AND ROLL, YARDIE STYLE......COME EEN RUDE BWOY.....!
Girl in red strutting her stuff at the start of this.👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Beautiful.....
This is awesome
I'd love to go to something like this
Back in the day people feared skinheads because the didn't understand it was fashion just like teddyboys or rockers your not bad just because you like certain clothes and music
To be fair the swastika t shirts and loud aggressive behaviour wherever they went didn't help.....
iam A heavy rocker biker & couldn't give A toss what others do or dress like as long as they leave other people alone 👌👌rock on & ride free👌👌🇬🇧🇺🇸🇬🇧🇺🇸🇬🇧🇺🇸🇬🇧🇺🇸🇬🇧🇺🇸🇬🇧🇺🇸🇬🇧🇺🇸🇬🇧🇺🇸🇬🇧
It was aggressive bootboy image make no mistake. To many people trying to pc skins 40 yrs on it’s a joke
A big group of coward skinheads attacked me and my brother near Mile End tube station in 1968, broke my brother’s nose resulting in several stitches, and that was not unusual. Later I had skinhead friends, but I don’t forget the reality of ‘bovver’ that scarred my brother for life.
Skinhead girl so cute 💖
Love it
Outstanding Video!!
I still love ist! Carry on OI!
Hello from the states! Im in my mid 30s and i dont know if it was the same vibe here as it was overseas, considering it was still before my "time". As I understand "skinhead" was merely a fashion and lifestyle moniker. These skins were S.H.A.R.P. skins. If someone could affirm or correct my understanding about the movement please let me know, thanks. Everyone, stay safe and look out for one another
The film , This is England, portrays the skinhead movement ot the 80's really well, original skins were definatly not racist
S.H.A.R.P. Skin.Heads.Against.Racial. Prejudice. These days is more of an individual movement Culture and lifestyle. To My knowledge there are No organized group's though S.H.A.R.P. still runs a Website. To My understanding the Skinhead Movement Originated in Jamaica.Jamaican Imagrants migrated to the UK. and those who reside in the UK.were heavily influenced by their Jamaican neighbors in Clothing Style and dress as well as music in about or around 1969.Thus the True' Skinhead Movement Culture and lifestyle is and Never was Racist. It Wasn't until the BNP Boneheads started recruiting those amongst the Skinhead Movement who were disorderant and had a very hard time fitting in amongst their Anti Racists Counter parts. These Boneheads we're influenced by Nazi ideology and Oi music that had a very strong Nationalistic message. But' there's a huge difference between One who is a Skinhead and Someone who is a Bonehead. The Skinhead Movement isn't a fashion statement or a Whimsical fad.The Skinhead Movement is an Identity Culture and Lifestyle.
Hmmmm remember the good old days ya canna beat this

Never understood the skinhead/ska music connection 🤔. Music is sound though.
Just Google it. The early skins listened to Reggae, Ska, and Rocksteady❤
Brilliant guys 👍
My memory must be going, did skins ever wear cloth caps ?
Yeeesss Ska!!! 👍🙂
Grüße aus Germany! 😉
So wanna go too this when and weres the next 1🌟🌟🌟🌟🇮🇪👍❤
It's on twice a year in Great Yarmouth :)
How about the ska dance from One Step Beyond? Now that's dancing!
I concur, the way I remember the scene was higher energy, fun but focused. Sharp moves ( all due to most of the mob being higher than lab rats) (in the nicest possible way) 🤘✌️🤘✌️🤘
@Retro Couture Damn dude, you were in the thick of it - Brains, fugazi Minor threat. There really wasn't much of a scene in Hawaii, we're of the same era though. I found the Clash on a trip to SF. Tower Records. And a kid from Huntington Beach came to my high school for a couple years. He was all about the Specials but I was able to get alot of music from him. Been drawn towards the music and mindset since '79
Fit blonde skynbyrd at the end ❤❤
They haven fun that's so 😎
carrot pullers !
The same ol soulless moves if they do DNA background probably 20 % Mongolian
Sounds good too. But it's a pity you felt you had to re-do your vid cos other people didn't like James Brown. It's YOUR vid. Do what you like Annie.
I already had this video edit, I had two versions of it. Thank you though. :)

The other girls look good, too.
Very nice ! Great music and people. Is this Las Vegas or something?
This is Great Yarmouth, UK, so no it's not Las Vegas aha
Is that Fishbone?
Skinheads look really sharp and musco is great but the scene is boring
Not even sure.. But it doesn't sound like fishbone.. Love fishbone though.
Girls r cute
Haha. I can't dance either.
