- NSTV another year has passed by since Sally won in 2022 here is this year's complete Dance comp sorry about the red lights I did ask for them to be turned off for the dance comp alas you can see for yourself the results. Huge congratulations to Jack Morgan(Edinburgh) the winner 2023

Well just for fun ive been entering this years and was shocked i got in top 24 into round 2 from all these fab dancers .. unfortunately i was wearing silly boots for comfort as i had blisters on my feet from night b4 boors that did stick to floor and made it very hard work but hey ho im 61 im disabled down my left side and a big achievement fir me ...thats me in white boots and green dress

I love how Jack Morgan came out of nowhere ( sort of ) and smashed it at Blackpool. He has been dancing since a young boy , going to Scottish soul nights with his mum and dad and all over UK. Scotland has known and loved him for a while . When he said he was going to enter the dancing competition at Blackpool I thought he has every chance of winning as he has honed his skills for a while . Same as Stephen Cootes Edinburgh also is a top dancer and won Blackpool in 2011 . x

Not to be a "Debbie Downer," but 40 years ago, the standard was high - and I mean HIGH!!
Sharon fron Oxford was (imo) the winner. Her footwork was tight, varied, and light.
Still, it was enjoyable to watch 👍
It's fascinating to see how the standards have evolved over the 55 years for me I agree that at the age of 17 at The Catacombs it was very high I could spin and do the drops but these days at 72 I can still shuffle but following a stroke I cant spin but do what I can. I was at the Winter Gardens last weekend were I saw my friend James Whitehead again probably the best northern soul I have ever seen he is brilliant. KTF

I picked the blonde girl as the best .
She has a very rapid style which is impressive to watch. I would guess maybe some Latin/ballroom experience mixed into her soul moves. Almost everyone has their own interpretation of the music and everyone puts in what they know because that's what it's about - expressing your feelings spontaneously through movement. I enjoy Latin just as much as Soul and Motown.

Winners kept in time, dance to the music and let yourself go !! Stunts alone wont do it
Really weird coming across this site. I'm from Wallasey Wirral and we danced like this in 1970 onwards I thought everyone danced like this back then!

Thankyou for your kind comments but please note that I was brought up loving Northern soul music, it’s just how I dance since I was 15 and I am a sensitive soul so any negativity is not nice to read. I entered for fun as that’s what this is… there are many amazing dancers out there now and were many more back in the day. ❤

I'd say she was just freelance like all of us who have taught ourselves to dance and got our own freelance style ns is not taught its a dance you make ya own moves too 4 me it is Sharon is a wonderful freestyle dancer koko well deserved ❤️
I dont think this was criticism but an opinion. Water of a ducks back to dancers. Your training shows through the extension work in your feet - pointing your toes. I had to lose this from my dancing. Its hard. Otherwise it does look like the old ball, step, change routine. Forget the how to dance N.S.videos it's not what its about. Feel the music. Get lost in it.

It's a northern soul comp not strictly, shouldn't of even got past round one ☹️.
I've been dancing to N/S since I was 15 and I'm now 68 still dancing so I should know what I'm talking about.

It must be you, I've just listened and there are no Disco tracks in there. If you are a Northern Soulie you should know the tracks played as they are well known on the Northern scene .....

Were you born when I started dancing at the Twisted Wheel? 1967/8. We made up our own moves, one of mine is still part of the idiotic stuff that I see today. Nobody danced in a vest then---we were aware of how we looked. There was no flopping about on the floor like a fish out of water either. I'm afraid that you are a late-comer to a commercialised genre. I know TOO much about the dancing and the music!!!
