Hi! It's been a week since I last cut my "living skin". Getting out of the shower today, they are so thick are hard. How do I keep from cutting? I want to break this cycle so bad but I'm having a hard time seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. I've been using the Kerasal for the past 3 nights and I use oil throughout the day. Can provide pictures if needed. Thanks!

Ooh, I‘m so going to try this 😮My grandma used to cut the dry skin around my nails when I was a child and it‘s been overgrowing ever since. I got one of those clippers a few years back and thought that was the solution. People always said, you can‘t reverse this „condition“. Wish me luck for better skin around my nails by 2023 🎉
Yes, I have the exact same problem and have never been told I can resolve it. My skin grows up VERY fast. Kersal did nothing on my feet, so I still have half a tube. Maybe it'll work on the thinner skin on my fingers. Look forward to trying this. I also have extremely dry hands. Doctors always comment on them. I just give up. It's exhausting having to soak them in oil in rubber gloves every night.

I very much appreciate your detailed explanation of things. I was an ER nurse for 18 years, but didn't deal with many nail issues other than avulsion and subungual hematomas. As a woodworker and artist, I've been dealing with this kind of thing for years. Now that I've started some of your suggestions, my cuticles/skin is much better. Thank you!
Your advice over several videos has been life saving! I have been a lifelong nail biter, and I am trying to get my nails just grown out to look decent. They don’t have to be long or gracefully beautiful. lol. In fact, I am a seamstress and crafter, used to using my actual fingertips to do things and can’t stand long nails. I always thought my cuticles were stubborn and it always hurt whenever they would get pushed back. Turns out it’s not my cuticle, it’s my living skin! I have done kersal, oil, and orange wood sticks. Starting this routine NOW. Thank you!
You are a godsend! I have bitten my nails since I was a small child. I am now 30, and needless to say my nails are not in great shape. I am making the commitment now to stop biting my nails and take better care of them using your methods. Thank you so much!

Wow! These photos are impressive! I have dealt with live skin sticking for my entire life. I have never been one to want long nails, or use colored nail polish. But having that sticking skin made my already stubby looking nails look even stubbier. I just recently discovered your videos, and have started the process of looking after my skin in the last 1.5 weeks. I also purchased Essie hard to resist. I am already seeing progress, and can't wait for another 3 weeks to pass. It has been tempting to cut, but resisting this temptation. After following you guidance on glass cuticle pusher, I can safely say my cuticles and PNF are in their best shape 💕 admittedly I sometimes skip softener and kinda just gently dry file the cuticles, but that also works for me, and my polishes aren’t lifting from the cuticles after showers anymore.. in fact, they remain PERFECT for over a whole week without any lifting until the nail growth at the cuticles bother me enough to take them off ❤
I am SO glad I found your video and page!!! I’ve been doing my cuticles and nails all wrong, no wonder I do not see any improvement. Buying all your recommendations and cannot wait to see the results in several weeks!! Thank you!!!
Thank you x a million. I am using your routines to save my hands. I had one professional manicure and left the salon with bleeding hands. She cut down into the sides of the nails. Last professional job for me unless I get to your salon.
I'm so grateful for your content! I finally understand what is up with my nails and how to manage them. I started doing what you suggested here and my hands for the first time in forever look nice! I still need to work on my skin picking havit but now there's so much less broken skin that it already helps a lot. Thank you!
Thank you so much for your advice - I have always had stretched proximal nail folds for as long as I can remember, and have been gently pushing them on a daily basis for a couple of weeks now, along with moisturising as recommended. Will the PNF's eventually settle to a more defined shape, or will I have to tend to them daily by nudging them for ever more?! Thanks so much for all your very informative videos.
This is exactly the video I’ve needed but never looked for! I have so many of the issues addressed. I happen to have the Kerasal ointment so I will definitely. Using it tonight. Thank you!
And it works, I have the same problem when I started last year doing my own nails. Used cuticle oil every time I washed my nails, and 3 times when I ate my main meals, morning, lunch and dinner. Now I don't have to use that much force to push back the cuticles. I also just do a full manicure on my nails one every 3 weeks so they don't get overworked
It works like a charm!! I struggled with such skin around my nails for many years and this made a miracle after several days! The two photos are like my nails before and after.
I also started to clean my cuticules more regularly. I think this also help to prevent the sticking skin around the nails and making this skin "thinner". Now it looks like it is cut, but it is not! :)
Life changing. Thank you for the amazing channel and your great way of presenting the material as if we're just in the shop having a conversation! Her elogated nail bed is a huge deal!
100% agree with this method, a few seconds everyday and hydrated and the skin will remain soft and elastic! I do it after each hand wash and sometime just use my own fingers to push away the skin and it works perfect too, I often do it after or during the shower 👍🏼
I’m so happy I found your videos. I started cutting my PNF and the rough skin around my nails, and it’s been a nightmare ever since. (Also I have been using gel and dip powder which I’m sure contributes to my issues) but I used to never do that and my nails were always so much more healthy. Going back to a more gentle, conservative approach and following your advice!
I developed problems like this due to chronic nail biting and I haven't been able to find any way to help my nails on my own. I definitely found some tips that I'll try from this video! Thanks!
After the first use of the Kerasal, my nails looked MUCH better! They had been peeling and bleeding at the cuticle edges. I'd cut the "cuticle" down and still...I was using antibiotic ointment like cuticle oil. This video has the first diagram of the anatomy of the nail, nail bed, and what is really the cuticle. This makes understanding what's going on and what to do about it easy. I always thought the skin around the base of the nail was the cuticle. When I used a "cuticle remover" and that skin was still there, I thought the product was useless. Thank you for your videos. I've learned a lot about my nails and how I should be taking care of them. Wish I'd learned this 50 years ago!
Anna I used to teach my clients the same filing technique for the hard skin on the free edge corners of the nail. I’m very hopeful. I’m going on Amazon tonight. I’ve seen one in a red box with a picture of a heel on it. I’ll find it. Thank you so much!
Thank you for this I have a client with very stubborn skin stuck on her nail plate and wasn't sure how to push it back without hurting her! But thank you!!
The client needs to understand that 90% success is up to her/him. They need to maintain and care for the skin and they have to learn to nudge it every 2 days. You doing it once every 2-3 weeks is not gonna help in this case
Thank you for this video! I have always had this problem with stubborn PNF (and very short nails in general) and never knew what to do with them. I'm excited to try this out
Oh my gosh, thank you. I am so excited to try this routine. My nails look exactly like those pictures before. I'm so self conscious of my nails. The skin always peels and it's painful and red
Hi, I just found your channel because of this vid, excellent content and guidance. Thank you. I substitute Am lactin + Cerave ointment for the Kerasal, since I already had both at home.
Wow! Thank you so much. I watched this video and turned my nails around in one day! I was afraid to go to salon because they always cut the fold and then the painful stripping starts. Going to get some kerasal today! Thanks so much!
Very helpful. Thank you. I get those really rough parts (the ‘corners’ of my nails) in winter. Nothing has worked for me and I end up getting painful cracks every winter. It’s summer here, so I have plenty of time to get some Kerasol.
Thank you so much for this video! My skin around my nails are completely irregular, it's annoying me so much! I'm gonna start doing what you recommended. 🙏🏻
I am a newer nail tech, i find your videos very helpful, I love how you included a timer! how long should it take to do cuticle care for a client who has overgrown proximal fold growth?
I have been enjoying your videos. You are a good teacher for me. I can understand and get the cause and the why. You take these steps. Very teachable. Thank you Susan 🦋
So looking forward to trying this, I've struggled with long cuticles for so long and just keep being told to trim or rally push back, which just leaves the nail bed sore for weeks. Fingers crossed this helps with my home manicure 🤞🏻
It’s not a long cuticle though but stretched skin fold. :) I explain more in these 2 videos How to start taking care of your nails [Complete Newbie Edition PART 1] ua-cam.com/video/4PXrASmK7eY/v-deo.html
This video is really interesting to be because I have psoriasis and have almost callus grade skin around each nail, sides are the worst. but my skin doesn't look terrible drenched in oil. the client clearly had the oil on her fingers in the after photos. I do think that her skin looks better, but to really do a comparison on how the treatment worked, you'd have to do a side by side without the oil ... Dry.
Wow wow wow!! I just found your channel and I’ve already learned SO much!! Thank you for this video and all of the links etc! I was getting ready to leave this same question bc I too suffer from really dry skin around my nails. I’ve always wanted this removed when I get my nails done but it’s a vicious cycle bc it then seems to grow more. My job is very hard on my hands and nails and I really think this is going to help me SO much!!! Thanks again!
Hi Elizabeth. Oil is great at maintaining and protecting good skin but in case of hard and stuck skin like this Kerasal is way more effective. I also like to call it "skin and nail oil" because we remove the cuticle during manicure. We care for the skin around the nails and the nails :)
Thank you, Anna! This is very helpful information. I have been using organic jojoba oil and really like it’s absorption properties ( not as greasy, soaks in nicely)🌸V
While watching TV I push my cuticle back with my nail edge, then scratch off the skin left on the nail near the cuticle. Then, in the shower, a washcloth or loofah with soap works well if you scrub your nails, cuticle area, fingers, hands (GENTLY! CUTICLE CAN TEAR), then definitely lotion/cream after.
Im working on this problem right now! I’m using Eucerin 5% urea hand cream at night as well as during the day here and there, and cuticle oil after every hand wash. I also love dexeryl for hands and feet. What I realized I was doing wrong before was pushing back the proximal nail fold too intensely and I was also pushing back the dry cuticle along with it, then I noticed that you gently feel for the proximal nail fold so that the cuticle remains in tact on the nail plate haha. Pushing back the cuticles gives me a slight cringey nails on a chalk board kind of feeling so I’m still working on getting comfortable with the process😂 your videos have been incredible 🤧 I was waiting 5 months for my nail damage to grow out after finding your channel, and with your advice my nails are now so healthy. I finally got to paint them today - healthy grown out nails 😅 I do have a question though - is Kerasal available in Europe?
Hi Nymfy. Thank you so much for the kind words. Kerasal is available in Europe (Amazon.es is where I found it). Here is the link amzn.to/3PdMfvO Where in Europe are you located? Thanks so much - MSL
Again! A wonderful video that give me some great talking points with my clients with stubborn and thick pnf! Thank you! I’m going to look for Kerasal to recommend for my clients as well!
The cracking and dry is not a cuticle though. It’s a skin around the nails. I explain it all in detail in this video How to start taking care of your nails ua-cam.com/play/PLnP7qaKYlbX5R549SguUizXDGmslD0C4d.html
something I do is put the jojoba oil on then those thin food preparer plastic gloves for a few hours. Body heat helps it sink in and I can do stuff involving water without harming my nails...cotton gloves just absorb the oil away from the hands...
Hello. It’s Denise again. I’ve been watching many many of your videos because I’m very interested in your system to help with the skin overgrowth at the PNF area that is stuck down so hard to the nail, that I too have been cutting them since high school 40 years ago! This video on her worst nail is what mine look like. And they grow back stuck down to the nail already just 2,3 days after a full manicure and removal. I will get some kerasol asap and start using that at night. I’ve been pushing them back everyday and that’s helping a little. I have caused temporary damage to my beautiful nails many times because this is adhered so tightly and there’s so much of it, I’ve had to press too hard or damaged with efile trying to get it to come off or even cut through the plate with a cuticle knife I’m very qualified to use. It’s very frustrating to have this problem when my career was a nail tech and I was in high demand for even my manicures because of my skin removal. Very frustrating. I was glad to see someone with similar problems. Thank you for the advice! I’ll be trying it! I have a cuticle pusher and oil at each sink now too! Lol
Such a wonderful way of explaining. I'm going to follow this and hope it will fix my skin problem on the nails side . Now I see how many mistakes I did to trying to make my nails looks better where in fact looking worse and the skin growing on like crazy.Thank you so much ❤ I just wondering if you have any tips for dead skin on heels. Few years ago I did very big mistake using skin off mask on my feet and however all looks better now still is not same as before. So if anyone thing about skin of mask I strongly NOT RECOMMEND.
1:11 what should one do about the cuticle like shown in the picture? is routine use of kerasal enough to take care of the cuticle without blue cross? because I know/assume that the kerasal is able to soften the living skin and PNF and make it more elastic for pushing back and not growing stuck to the nail after 3 weeks but I'm unsure of the cuticle. could the cuticles eventually fall off due to moisture, such as when taking a shower? Or should they be filed/drilled or buffed away?
I push PNF back every time i wash my hands. Itś already a habit and no huge issues with the skin around the nailplate. Also due the work ( same as Annas :) so .. ) i wear a gloves , i tend to use hand cream when i remove the gloves. Cream will dry off when i need to pull on new set of gloves. I hardly use cuticle softeners unless i paint my nails ( what i hardly do these days... ) And ofc oil.. since i use olis for face anyway so i also rub it onto my PNF whenever i do face routine
Thank you for this. I've used solar oil for 4 days now, and I gently push back the PNF each night. I also removed the thin cuticle. However, I have the same problem as the person around 4:35, where there's a bit of a "flap". My PNFs are quite overgrown. I guess that will correct itself over time, I should just take it easier with the pushing?
Skin takes time to shrink. The most elastic it is the better it will shrink. Here is more info: How to start taking care of your nails ua-cam.com/play/PLnP7qaKYlbX5R549SguUizXDGmslD0C4d.html
I am in love with the Blue Cross you recommended! Could you please tell which oil you like the most to use at bedtime? Also, I’m growing out detached fingernails seem to have “reattached” as they are growing out. QUESTION: is it advisable for me to wear cotton gloves during sleep after applying a cuticle oil? It is that too much moisture? Thanks in advance for your help!!
Before bedtime I only use Kerasal. I don't think wearing gloves is necessary. I think some people make things more complicated just to have something to talk about. When I apply Kerasal on my feet after a shower I do put on a pair of fuzzy socks just so I don't make footprints on the floor and so I don't slip. It takes few minutes for the cream to absorb and then you can take them off. Consistency is more important than the amount. Applying tiny amount of cream every night is better than slathering half a tube one night and wearing gloves to bed ;)
I've been following you on Instagram for awhile and tonight is the first time I found you on UA-cam, so ya, you have a new subscriber😉 I'm a home hard-gel user and so far that's the only way my nails have ever grown. Your video helping the woman with side breakage sounds most like me! I'm considering going back to short natural nails so we'll see. On Instagram I comment as Katie crazy nails.
After trying this regimen and technique for around a month, I hadn’t seen any change. Then I realized what I thought was very hard and thick pnf is a thin delicate pnf completely stuck to an overgrowing and very thick plate like cuticle. I tried pushing back just the pnf for another month, but with very gentle nudging it remained completely stuck to the cuticle and kept stretching with it. I then tried slightly firmer nudging, which immediately stretched and tore the thin pnf. Any advice for how to best proceed?
I am a new nail and I recently started using Hyaluronic acid(sp) on really dry cuticles, it it has worked pretty good! Have you tried that? What are your thoughts?
Hi Anna thanks for your content on nail health and treatment. Quick question can/should you keep these routines when you have polish on your nails? Thanks
Hi Ana! Yes of course! The video of me pushing back the skin was with clear polish on. You are not pushing back the polished part. And you don’t have polish on the skin.
Recommended routine:
Kerasal, a small dab around the nails at night
Oil, a drop of oil per hand after each hand wash
Protective cream (like "Glove in a Bottle") if you must wash your hands excessively healthcare workers, daycare workers, food prep etc after hand wash, just less than pea size amount, this lotion absorbs in 5 seconds.
Nudge back the living skin around the nails gently every 1-2 days. No pressure!
Kerasal amzn.to/3dy31F7
Glove in a Bottle amzn.to/3VJNiWL
Manicure Sticks amzn.to/3rJIYb2
Jojoba bulk amzn.to/3APfVKx
The jojoba bulk is for the hot oil baths but do you also recommend that as the cuticle oil or do you have one you recommend
Yes, use the same thing :) Its awesome. You can always use some sunflower oil or avocado, or grapeseed. Drop of vit E would be good too.

Thank you kindly!!
Thank you so much! I needed this! My nails have been like this for a little while and i wasn’t sure what to do
100% agree with this method, a few seconds everyday and hydrated and the skin will remain soft and elastic!
Thanks!
Good luck!! It can be done!!
Amazing transformation! So happy for this viewer! ❤️
This is so helpful, thank you! 😊
This is exactly the problem I’ve always had and I’ve never known how to deal with it.
So helpful, thank you again 😊
OMG this is what I've been looking for for ages!!!! Thank you!
Glad I could help! 🤗
Anna I used to teach my clients the same filing technique for the hard skin on the free edge corners of the nail. I’m very hopeful. I’m going on Amazon tonight. I’ve seen one in a red box with a picture of a heel on it. I’ll find it. Thank you so much!
Links to the product are in the description box:))
@@TheSalonLife I remembered that after I typed it and sent it. Thank you.
Your videos are my nail savior! Finally nails that look like mine and what I can do about it! 😭😭♥️
Thank you, I can finally work on getting the cuticles of my dreams with this routine 😊
"Skin around the nail", not cuticle :) Cuticle we remove during a manicure :)

Thank you for this video! I have always had this problem with stubborn PNF (and very short nails in general) and never knew what to do with them. I'm excited to try this out
If the skin is hard and very stuck then use Kerasal first for 2-3 weeks until the skin softens. Then start nudging. :)
@@TheSalonLife Thank you for the tip! I just bought Kerasal
@@TheSalonLife Are there any Kerasal alternatives for us who can't buy it? Because of shipping, tax, etc.
Not sure, it's best to go to pharmacy and ask for something with similar ingredients.
Thanks!
HI Bluesky! Thank you so much for your contribution to the channel. We really appreciate it! ☺ Have a great day! - MSL
Oh my gosh, thank you. I am so excited to try this routine. My nails look exactly like those pictures before. I'm so self conscious of my nails. The skin always peels and it's painful and red
Thank you so much for your videos. This is the first one that has actually given me useful information!
Glad it was helpful!
Hi, I just found your channel because of this vid, excellent content and guidance. Thank you. I substitute Am lactin + Cerave ointment for the Kerasal, since I already had both at home.
Thank you for sharing! I have this issue and now I can properly correct it! Stay tuned for results!❤
Please take photos!!!
Very informative and thanks for sharing. Read the linked article and now understand how my nails should be manicured.💅🏾❤️💚🙋🏾♀️
Thank you so much for this video! My skin around my nails are completely irregular, it's annoying me so much!
I'm gonna start doing what you recommended. 🙏🏻
Hi Cassia! Sometimes irregular is normal. If it's stretched then this method will help :)
Thank you so much Susan!
I explain more in these 2 videos

Excellent! Just what I needed. Thank-you for explaining everything so clearly.
Wow! What a transformation! I live by cuticule oil!
The best advice ever…will definitely try this. Thank you and many Blessings to you.🙏🏽💖
I cannot wait to try the kerasal- it does wonders on my dry skin on my feet and makes them super soft.
Thanks so much - MSL
hey I am in Europe and I ordered it from iHerb
Hi, Anna! I am from Estonia. I have also ordered the Kerasal from iherb. But I haven't found Blue cross somewhere in Europe 😊
Again! A wonderful video that give me some great talking points with my clients with stubborn and thick pnf! Thank you! I’m going to look for Kerasal to recommend for my clients as well!
Send them this video :). Such a simple solution! Anyone can do it:)
Thanks so much excellent video with the before and after picture and your very good detail of the process. Bless you !
Great, great advices. I love how you see the problems of handworkers.
Thank you for sharing this helpful information with us dear. 👍😘
Glad it was helpful Ursula! Thank you for writing! ❤️
I didn't know it was possible for me to have pretty nails. Thank you.
Thank you!!! We have a lot clients with cuticles like the ones in this video
Great video! So helpful and gives me hope for my own Cracking/dry cuticles! ❤
The cracking and dry is not a cuticle though. It’s a skin around the nails.
I explain it all in detail in this video

something I do is put the jojoba oil on then those thin food preparer plastic gloves for a few hours.
Lol
Instead of kerasal can I use a 22% urea cream?
Such a wonderful way of explaining. I'm going to follow this and hope it will fix my skin problem on the nails side . Now I see how many mistakes I did to trying to make my nails looks better where in fact looking worse and the skin growing on like crazy.Thank you so much ❤ I just wondering if you have any tips for dead skin on heels. Few years ago I did very big mistake using skin off mask on my feet and however all looks better now still is not same as before. So if anyone thing about skin of mask I strongly NOT RECOMMEND.
Oh my! I've just discovered your chanel! So much great tips. Thank you :)
This is amazing! Thank you, I am absolutely binging a heap of your videos and they've helped me learn SO MUCH about nail care and polish!
i have got skin pealing from the side of my nail and it is going a near the bottom if i pull it the bottom will come of
Thank you so much Anna for all your advice. you're the fairy god mother of nails 😘
Awwww... thank you ! 🤗
Here is more info:

I NEEDED this!!!!! Thank you so much! 😭🥰💖
Thank u. My nails look tge best they ever looked with this care.
I never thought to use something like Kerasal!
These tips really helped me out. Thank you for sharing!
Applying tiny amount of cream every night is better than slathering half a tube one night and wearing gloves to bed ;)
ps. If your fingers are greasy after the oil you have applied too much. You can also wipe the hands after applying oil.
@@TheSalonLife Thank you. I just purchased the Kerasel!
omg i cant believe a cheap ointment does all this magic... thanks!!!
You're so welcome!
@@TheSalonLife Thank you! However, it seems there is no Kerasal in my country :( do you think something like Avene Akerat 30 would work instead?
Thanks for this! I knew that Kerasal was great for dry feet but it never occurred to me to use it on my nasty cuticles. Can’t want to try! 😀🙏🏼
7:32 I'll definitely try that in my toes, I always get that type of hard skin, but I'll have to be careful bc I feel like my nails are too sensible
The most effective for me for the moment...Thank you again
Have you been using Kerasal?
@@TheSalonLife Yes, since day 1
Update?
Thank you so much for this video!!
Thank you very much, really helpful!!!
