I’m so happy to see this person’s nails. They look just like mine!! I have never seen anyone with nails even close to what mine look like. Thank you for helping all of with crazy nails
Please heed Anna’s advice in shortening the damaged nails as much as possible. If you don’t, and think you’ll get away by keeping some length, you’re setting yourself up for a worse situation! The damaged longer nails will tear or break and cause even more damage further up on your nails. I’ve lived it and learned it. Several times til I gave in and filed them all off short!!! I’m in a much better position now as I try to grow some length and have them healthy.
So informative. Its good to know the difference between strengtheners/hardener etc and I appreciate that you tell us how long it takes to grow out any damage. I think we all want instant results but it's good to have a realistic idea. My nails are in good condition at the moment but I still watch your videos as a reminder that I can't rest on my laurels. I'm just going to nudge my nail fold back 🙄🙂
As someone who suffers from cuticle scarring from Nursing eczema, I have found that over-night isolating & hydrating with silicon finger cots worn with La Roche Posay CICAPLAST Baume B5+ &/or a high-quality oil beneath (even Elizabeth Arden Ceramide pod that was massage applied to my face & neck with my fingers & nails, then covered with cots… REALLY REDUCES the dry scars stretching & splitting of my cuticles. It is unpleasant & unsanitary to have cracked fingers, but putting the finger cots on? World of difference! Just be sure the cot is anchored to dry skin by the palm, or it will slide off: fuzzy socks over cots? That works well, & keeps the unguents warm to absorb
I have not been able to get Kerasal in South Australia but I do have Dermal Therapy Heel Balm. I have only used this product on my feet until hearing you talk about Kerasal with 10% urea. I was worried at first because Dermal contains 30% urea and I thought it may be too strong for the finger nails. However, I have been applying it to my finger nails 3 times a week before bed and the skin around my nails are perfect. I have never had damaged nails because I have only ever used normal nail polish and now Essie glow and shine (no gel, shellac, acrylic etc). The only problem I had was hangnails, however, since applying jojoba oil throughout the day after hand washing I no longer have this problem. I love watching you do a manicure on your nails and love the natural look! Thank you for your ongoing advice!
I’m going through the same thing, mail is lifting from the bed. I did clip the nail back and it worked. It’s growing and I keep trimming as needed. Lots of oil soaks and Vaseline at night. I’m hoping in about a month my nails looks better.
I've been following you since I had my powder dip tips taken off in October 2023 (after.2 years on). At the same time, I took my toe polish off and started conditioning my toe nails as well. I started using the OPI repair mode and the jojoba soak and all day oiling of the nails. It's amazing how healthy my nails have become (I'm 57) with these new habits. I have dazzle dry waiting to apply once my nails are where I want them to be or if I have an emergency situation where I need my nails done properly. I have about 1/3 new nail on my hands now 3 months later and I can feel the difference of the new nail with my finger tip, the term plasticize makes sense now. I still have ridged nails growing in but I think over time that will improve. I hope it does. Thank you Anna for everything you do!
I've done my own gel nails for a few years, and for the first time ever, I had the nail plate separate from the nail bed. Weirdly enough, the nail plate doesn't even look that damaged, so I had no idea why that happened. I didn't cut it, though. Just hoping it will grow out 😭But maybe I will after watching this video, even though there's no discolouration or anything similar to these pictures.
Very often it's a sign of allergic reaction. Basically the body is trying to "get rid of", separate itself from the nail plate that is full of irritating ingredients
I am a nailtech from the Netherlands... recently the Russian Manicure is a hype now here and BIAB is marketed as healty for your nails. I get new clients that really believe that BIAB is healthier then gel or acrylic. What I also see is, that BIAB stays on for 4 to 5 weeks on the nails. Which cant be good, but it happens. They apply a very thick layer, but BIAB or Rubberbase has to be applied thin... so there you see a lot of issues after BIAB
Is there an update from this client? Is not that I have to see ro believe, but my nails were like that, about a yr ago, and follow your advice, and I have to say that they are very healthy now! I carry on a roller of oil for my nails, I also have one at my kitchen and another in my bath!. I love the results!!
Thank you so much for sharing this. It is always helpful to see what the problem is and what to look for. I totally agree with your comment in not cutting the proximal nail fold .. I have seen so many that do this which made me start to doubt my thoughts why I should not ... thankfully I stuck to my guns and haven't used any clippers/scissors ...just kept everything as healthy as I could with cuticle oil and vaseline is a great help too. Thanks again Anna .. regards x
It's actually interesting how language can also be a factor when it comes to misinformation. The nail will look ugly if you cut the part out where it separates. It is advised that I put on some nail enhancements to let the nail grow out after the cut for nail plate separation?
The problem is that often this happens BECAUSE of the enhancements (for few reasons).
Also the enhancement will create like a leverage and it will pull the nail up not allowing it to adhere properly.
Not to mention that any enhancement and even polish raises moisture level in the nail which can contribute to further lifting.
Also nail enhancements are enhancement, not replacements. They should be applied on a nail not on the skin. Healthy nail to top it off.

Jojoba plasticizes the nails and it’s an emollient. Kerasal has urea and salicylic acid so it’s moisturizing and keratolitic (exfoliated the skin). Urea also protects the skin and helps to repair the skin barrier.
@TheSalonLife thank you for your reply! I did some research and understood the difference and will buy both. Unfortunately Kerasal isn't available in Germany and currently I'm not able to purchase anything online but I'm looking into alternatives. Maybe that would be a good video idea to showcase products and their alternatives? BTW your videos helped so much and I have a new and better understanding of how to take care of my nails. Thank you
cooties, LOL I have your voice in my head now saying "plasticize the nail" every time I rub the jojoba oil on
Thanks! Your videos are CRAZY helpful!! I’m very grateful that you share all your knowledge!!

Awesome! Thank you!
What are your thoughts on Murula oil
People tend to come up with fancy, exotic oils to have something new to sell. Plain old jojoba works great. That and vaseline 😉
@@TheSalonLife thank you.
PS. Looks like jojoba absorbs better than Marula. So for the purpose of plasticising the nail jojoba would be a better choice.
@@TheSalonLife thank you again. Love how knowledgeable you are. Thanks for sharing.
My nails are just fine, but my skin looks like this. I'll try that cream.
I Think this client had have this bitten a lot - also around the cuticle. That can also les to bqcteria infecsion . 🥰
Hi, could she have used IBX to help?
Kerasal is almost 19 euros in Spain tho 🥲
