Paul Gilbert 3 String arpeggios
Вставка
- Опубліковано 18 жов 2006
- From the December issue of Guitar One, Paul explains his crazy idea to play an E minor arpeggio in 3 octaves, eventually leading to his idea to retune the 2nd neck on his double-neck.
Enjoy.
“It’s a difficult lick to play.” Plays it fairly well anyway.
Fairly well is an understatement
Insane looks like he even practiced it
Uploaded 14 years ago, 14 years since I started playing, 14 years of watching this video every now and then and it just never fails to make me smile, thank you paul for your amazing guitar skills
Cuantos años se necesitan para tocar como el?
We started playing guitar at the exact same time man. I come back to this video probably once every year and a half, takes me back. Hope you are better than I am at playing after all this time tho lol
@@MadGunny yeah it’s like a flashback to reading guitar magazines all day and drool at all the Rigs of the big guys 😅 I was at my prime like 8 years ago but ever since then I just find myself noodling unmusical stuff in my room 😂
@Rory no puedo esperar tanto
God damn he can alternate pick faster and cleaner than most pro guitarists can sweep.
You know what I love? How he can just tune the D string to an E flawlessly in like 2 seconds! I love everything else btw, but I just wanted to point that out haha
this guy is so amazing that after watching this vid like 100 times I just realized that the guitar is fixed to a stand
"And, I was never really satisfied with the way it sounded, really, it's... it's OK..." *Plays it flawlessly*
"I was never really satisfied with the way it sounded, i mean it's okay." *SHREDTASTICK*
So true, even though his speed will melt your face off, he always keeps it very melodic and listenable
He's like "I mean its ok" LOL dammit Paul
paul you looks like you need some burgers
its useless, that pinky burns too much calories
ARGH! I have been playing this lick for days, and I can still only manage to play this lick going down the fretboard, but not back up! Paul, you are too good.
So simply, yet so brilliant!
Casual "stretch" between 12 and 19 fret. Curses my child like fingers lol 😅
its easy to play ok
the total simplicity and technical genius of this is really kind of amazing...
Rips out perfectly fluid wide string skip 3 note per string licks like it's nothing. I've been listening to Paul ever since the soundpage in Guitar Player magazine back in like 1987 and throughout the past 20 years he has never ceased to amaze me. Thanks Paul for making life so much better all around!!
omg lol
Before you were famous
so wait iv'e been playing it the hard way? Cause I didn't tune the guitar from D to E?!!??? Well shit on me!
Paul you are always an inspiration! I had the opportunity to see you with Mr Big, It was an excellent concert. Thanks for your music...
Very cool technique ! Thank you for this great idea Mr. Gilbert, i will work on it !
another lick that looks quite "easy" if you watch a guy like Paul doing it..but you can try it yourself for ages..and will always fail..
gonna see him this saturday live ! cant wait
This is actually a great string skipping exercise when done after the re-tune. Thanks Paul!
ya gotta love him for his skill, humility, and personality!
i love listening to him talk about playing guitar, he is truly a genius.
HUGE,ENORMOUS HAND'S HELP EXTREMELY WELL.
One of the easiest explinations for people who are just starting to make progress on their guitars on how to sound out arpegios without having any form of lessons or text to learn from without all the technical jargon. I like Gilbert alot not only cos of his styles and abilities but that he's real and a down to earth bloke.
Insane. Paul Gilbert absolutely slays!
That lick melted my face.
whether you like him or not doesnt matter his technique and playing are insane. thats a fact. one of the best guitarist in the world.
Amazing guitarist!!
i adore this man
i absolutely love that PGM
Paul was born to play guitar clean and fast!
Incredible touch at speed
One nuance many of us guitarists don't really appreciate about Gilbert's playing mechanics is that his hands are freaking huge and he can probably reach more notes in the upper octaves than most others.
i totally agree if anything paul is underrated because 90% of the world doesnt even know that he excists and i LOVE ur name its awesome
the most humble guitar legend. yeah
awesome man!
wow, that was a cool lick!
dude is amazing
Amazing... Awesome...
holy shit man .. that was insane
God Of Guitar
i love paul hes so cool and awesome
Really pretty stuff. He's an artist.
This is extremely cool :)
that guy is such a badass...i met him at NAMM show this year, such a nice guy...i dont know much about guitar though,i play drums
Thanks Paul
I'm working on an adaptation of this
on bass - 5 string - standard tuned
low tuned D
I like D instead of down to B on top
for chord purposes - less rattle also
I was speaking from more of a "producer" standpoint concerning tone. Certain types of guitar tones "sit" in a mix better than others...depending on the type of mix. In those instances, it's not so much about taste as it is about what "works" and makes the mix sound cohesive and musical. Having said that, John has really well produced tone. Paul has a very easy tone to mix as well. Both guys have really groomed sounds. Sounds like your tone is solid, too. I love Dimarzio as well. : )
This was an extract, a demonstration for a Guitar Techniques magazine. How he puts it into play, such as "GooMY" is art. His skill and control of the guitar is art, and how he can bend and manipulate the guitar to his will basically.
Of all the great deadpan comments of Paul Gilbert's on UA-cam, 'It's okay' at 0:29 would be among the funniest.
he's so humorous ^^
I love paul
he is a good teacher.
Es que con ese pedazo de mano y con esa increíble técnica...
Paul is god
that is beast!!!!tthe double neck vid I really didn't care for but this makes up for it 10 times over arpeggios from hell!
the fact that he can do that well skipping over strings is amazing
He's about the cleanest one I can think of. Definitely one of the most diverse and melodic.
Jesus christ, man... He's so good!
Davvero mostruoso !!
Legend
@dimetonn Yes, I'm a guitarist too and I agree absolutely. String skipping is way harder than sweep picking, but Shawn Lane has some pretty badass string skipping licks so.. That's what I was aiming at. I didn't think about comparing string skipping to sweeping.
Should be good, i'll look foward to buy that album.
Hell yeah man, I am in the 8th row at MSG in New York. I hope Paul plays Get Out Of My Yard with that double neck 3 string guitar. He will need the "human capo", and I have a feeling he will be doing it. Petrucci and Gilbert on the same stage...For me, this is a dream come true!
'I was never really satisfied with the way it sounded, I mean, it's ok' plays the fuck out of it
Excelente!!!!
Shawn Lane used to do this back in the 70s when he was 16 years old. RIP Shawn. (And as always, good job Paul.)
good job
awesome !
thanks, it looked to me in the Paul Gilbert amazing guitar video that he uses 1,2,4 but that doesn't make sense too me, ill check it again
If you're talking about Paul....he's not overrated. And, he is one of the greatest.
An absolute genious
"There is no audience throwing cups at me" haha got love that line
so gnarly
EPIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That guy is a monster on guitar for sure :)
insane!!!
haha okay. good. pg is my favorite guitarist. he never messes up.
his fingers are something out of this world
paul is my hero
Just so humble. Remember...he taught a young Brian Carroll.
Started his career with Racer-x
Played on many other people's CD's
Played with Mr. Big
Has a good solo career now and is also back playing with Racer-x
Genious!
Freaking genius!
wat a smart man =)why didnt i ever think of that
I love when he says its a difficult lick, then plays it like its nothing :D
Lol. I was just thinking the same thing.
God, that pinky is wild.
Goddamn! insane paul!!!!
U rule dude!!!
i have 2 things to say
1. did u see how his pinky was moving 0.o
and
2. this guy is one of the people tht inspired me to play guitar
Quite simply - He rules!
Amen brother TESTIFY!
"if i can get it right..." hooly shit not just right he just blew my mind, gilbert truly fucking shredddsssss!!!!!!! long live paul
I totally agree. John does have great tone. There is a way to argue tone as not all aspects of it are opinion, but we don't get into that here. : ) Have a good one.
@TheNovaGradiska yeah,me to . He's awesome!
Holy sheeeeet!!!
oh yeah! now its NO problem,im gonna teach all my new students this!
this guy is sick!!!
Es impresionante...
Thats insane
