This album is good vibes all around. Paul continues to evolve in humble ways, very rarely overplays these days. He is a perfect example of someone who has nothing to prove anymore and has truly matured in his craft as a result. His playing is as free as ever. It's great.
Young people can't play slow. It takes age and lots of practice to get there.
Play a song with a melody and this is what happens.
I don't think anyone would complain if he 'overplayed' a little now and then. Viking Kong will forever be one of the best guitar masterpieces ever created.
He's playing better than ever. Amazing!

That's because for this album he composed vocal parts with lyrics and then translate into guitar only, for what I understand.

There are reasons why i or we love Paul gilbert....
1. He is one of the most Humble and funny guitarist when it comes to communicate and sharing knowledge.
2. He has really evolved...he explored every genre from metal to blues and jazz...not just a shredder...but a musical shredder.
3. He appreciates other artists and stay far from competitive world. He believes in having fun and you can see everytime he plays it.
4. He is getting better and better with age like wine. His recent albums are so much versatile.
5. I cant even play 1% of what he plays but still love him coz he is really a positive and beautiful soul. And one of my fav musician of all time.

I love Paul Gilbert because every time he picks up a guitar he is like a kid with a new toy. There is just so much joy and fun whenever he plays and that comes across every single time I see him play. That is what makes him special in comparison to some other musicians.
The slide parts remind me of some of George Harrison's stuff. Great job!

My friend passed away two years back and Paul Gilbert is one of his favourite guitar player ...this music makes me sad ... Paul is legend
This made me so happy I cried I've loved Paul Gilbert since I was a little boy and I enjoy his music to this day I am 44 now and introducing my daughter to his beautiful music and she likes it and that's pretty cool

Hello Mr Gilbert. Don't know if you will ever read this but I wanted to say thank you for inspiring me to want to play guitar. When I heard RacerX "Street Lethal" I wanted to play. That album made me want to practice. Fast forward 35 or so years and you still inspire. Thanks mate.

While I don't like this type of music, I absolutely love watching Paul play. He's a master of guitar and I can tell he loves what he's doing here. As an aspiring guitarist virtuoso, this is awesome to watch.

These melodies and chord progressions give you a cheerful yet slightly remorseful vibe. Just like someone who owns a building reminiscing his whole life's hard work getting there. Love it.
I love Paul's tone - so thick, and he doesn't overdo the effects. Every time I watch live videos of him jamming with other guitar players, the others always sound thin and fuzzy compared to him.
Lots of feel and emotion. Unreal...Mr. Gilbert never seems to let me down.

Paul Gilbert now reminds me of something I read in an Eric Clapton interview. I'm paraphrasing because I haven't looked up the quote in years but it's along the lines of "You have to absorb all of it, learn as much as you can. Then forget all of it and just create what's inside you, what you feel." I really feel like that's what Paul is doing these days and it really shows.

this is how i interpret the song - it's a conversation between a man and a woman. the first riff, the girl was nagging. and the SLIDE section that comes next is the man trying to woo the woman and explaining himself. then comes that crazy riff again, same thing, it's the woman trying to be unreasonable. so the man tries to console her once again ( slide section again ) .... and finally on the solo section, the two reconciled and made mad passionate love ... and when the man started to express his feelings and talk about plans and whatnot ( final slide guitar section ) ... the girl once more went crazy ( final crazy riffs ) ............ and on the outro, they just went separate ways ......

Yes, folks point out the Harrison-esque melody, but I also hear and saw a double-stop slide up the neck that had me thinking of Duane Allman.
